Hi, love your videos. Can you do a tutorial on the setup to sewing with the Juki serger. I bought a juki mo650 de to finish baby skirts and bumpiest but I am not sure how to start using it Thanks

Thank you for the kind comment. Maybe sometime in the future I can do a serger tutorial. There are many wonderful ones on RUclips already, I bet you could find what you are looking for here or on Craftsy.

What fabric did you use here? Very new to this!

Unfortunately the specific fabric I’m using here is sold out, but it is a cotton jersey from Girl Charlee. They have a huge selection of other prints here: www.girlcharlee.com/cotton-jersey-knit-fabric-c-90_103.html. I like a cotton jersey because it has a little bit of weight to it, ie not as flimsy, which helps keep the ruffles from drooping. Another more expensive option, but also good (and what I used for the version with the cowboys on it) is the Cotton Spandex Jersey on spoonflower. You can pick any design from their site and have them print it on cotton jersey. 👍🏼👍🏼

You could also make the flutters out of lace
I’m here bc of the adult size bloomers that Melanie Martinez wears at her live concert 🤷‍♀️

Hey! I’m not familiar with her (going to Google now…) but I have gotten quite a few requests for adult-size in this pattern. I have my hands on too many other projects to tackle that right now but I bet you could totally modify. And lace would be cute!

Does this pattern work well with woven fabric also?

Hi Lis, you could use woven as long as you either used elastic in the thighs (in place of bands) or had enough ease in the thighs based on the finished measurements in the pattern .

What brand is your cover stitch machine?

It is a Janome. I’ve had it for a few years now and very happy with it but if I were to re buy it, I would get a 4 thread cover stitch vs the 3 thread I have now.

If you cut on the fold why cut in half and sew up again?

Personally. I like the seam on the front of the bloomers aesthetically (and functionally), but it isn’t entirely necessary to the overall construction.
