Our government's bad economic decisions were also reason for us being poor
      1. Nehru and Indira Gandhi were supporter of the socialist ideology
      2. India was somewhat of an socialist country where major industries were in control of the government from 1950 - 80
      3. Ease of doing business was very poor, because of all pervasive licensing (license raj) , which discouraged the entrepreneurial mindset which made us rich in the past
      4. Government intervention drove away MNCs like Coca Cola and IBM
      5. Bank Nationalisation worsen our Economic condition and achieved nothing but Quick loan facility for Politicians
      6. Rise of Communism, which ruined strong economies like West Bengal, by discouraging potential investors.
      7. Corruption
      8. Lack of Patriotism due to Ideological Subversion which drove many geniuses out of the country in 70s and 80s
      9. Slave producing education system

About time. Empires rise and fall. It is cyclical in nature. World order is changing. Countries that have been colonised and invaded for a long time are under recovery mode. Both India and china missed the Industrial revolution. But china had an upper hand during the time of Independence because their literacy rate was better than ours. Only 10% Indians were literate in 1947. The govts back then should have focussed more on Improving the literacy rate. Japan that was completely decimated in 1945 rose from the ashes because of their higher literacy rates and support from US in rebuilding their country.
China on the other hand opened up its economy in 1978 compared to India's economy opening up in 1991. So we definitely missed the train over there. But the key point is that most of the chinese growth is on the back of abnormally high unsustainable debt. That debt bubble is popping up and is being felt in real estate sector. China definitely is more developed and richer as compared to India. No doubt about it but to say that china is rich is an overstatement. It is an upper middle income country with huge Income disparity, corruption similar to ours. Chinese premier le keqiang himself said that 600 million chinese live on a monthly Income of less than US 140 Dollars.
India needs to focus on consistent economic growth for the coming 2 decades in order to reduce the development gap be it in social or economic Indicators.

Higher debt is not an issue for the Chinese Communist Party. What is debt? Just finances. China has developed itself into world-class industrial technology hub, they have technology that will sustain their nation for centuries. They have the powerful institutions that will sustain their country. India has none of it. China is already a superpower by one way or another, their slow economic growth is natural because their country is close to reaching its total potential, including their population issue. They will just transform Industries from being labour based to mechanical based manufacturing facilities. Robotics and artificial information is going to dominate the world now and China has already managed to gain a strong edge in the technology field as I mentioned before. We were colonized not because of our disunity.
We were in pursuit of spirituality.
Arabs, Turks, Europeans were in pursuit of profitability.
We could not fathom the depth of their hunger, nor could we envision the savagery they could inflict on us.

colonialism was devastating but i do think india could take more responsibility for its future. look at countries like japan. which was poorer than india at one point. for example, life expectancy in india is around 70 compared to around 80 in the usa. the indian govt could encourage indians to consume less oil, milk, butter and animal products and consume more vegetables and fruits. while eating around 1800 cals each day. they could also encourage them to exercise daily for 30-60 mins. all of which could easily boost life expectancy without the need for spending heavily on healthcare. the number of stray dogs could also be done away with by partnering with ngos and other animal rights group. something which could make the country more clean. providing more funding to ngos like teach for india so they could impact more children with high quality education could be a solution to tackling india's education crisis.

China and India had the same GDP few decades back but in India there is too much corruption and there's no unity and everyone put religion before the nation and this is the sole reason why India is far far behind china. In a way I feel India needs a strong leader too (like Modi but prefer someone better at the moment he's the only option rather than that cartoon gandhi) like how China abolished religion can't happen in India but this definitely plays a major role because there's so much internal fights nobody wants to see the bigger picture of the nation succeeding

    6. Rise of Communism, which ruined strong economies like West Bengal, by discouraging potential individuals.
    7. Corruption
    8. Lack of Patriotism due to Ideological Subversion which drove many geniuses out of the country in 70s and 80s
    9. Slave producing education system
    10. Communal Divide
For us, the best case study would be Singapore, once a Slum ridden country which emerged as one of the greatest economic power under visionary leader Lee Kuan Yew, If you ask me socialism destroyed India.

Because of our 'pandit' nehru and his socialism. No liberation of markets till 1991, China liberated markets long ago. India's failure is a mix of colonialism, congress bootlicking of English people, socialism, India being close to Soviet union hence usa never liked India like they did China, so never invested into India, even after 1991 liberation, but they invested a lot in China and of course straight up mismanagement of the administration of nation.
