- One of the Simplest Ways to Perform High-End Skin Retouching in Photoshop! Whether you are creating magazine covers or working on a high-end project, achieve the best quality skin using just 2 layers! In this tutorial, we will a simple blend mode to do extensive dodging and burning to get the most realistic skin texture, maintaining the softness, and keeping the skin flawless.
This two-layer technique is just another way to do dodging and burning, but a little more easily and helps you keep it compact. We will start by learning how to remove blemishes, and also, we will learn which blemishes to remove and which one to not. Then, we with the help of the Soft Light blend mode, we will dodge and burn with just one layer.

@Bowen Kade Yeah he seems like a genuinely good person, which is hard to come by these days. Looks like he makes enough editing on his own to share a lot of his knowledge online. And I bet he makes a killing with RUclips alone seeing as he has almost 3 mil subs. Proof that good people will get rewarded by karma.

This is among your best tutorials. Very intuitive and effective strategy. It really only takes a single watch to fully understand.
This is why Unmesh is the best.
He questions things, he makes the viewers to think and question why we would or should use a certain tool or technique. I don't see that on other channels. It's not the ordinary "follow me and do this" tutorials we see, like on many of the other Photoshop channels. That would be way to easy, and you forget about it quite quickly.

So I've always wondered why it's recommended to fill the dodge/burn layer with 50% Gray. Why not just keep the layer transparent so you can use the eraser tool. Seems way more convenient and I don't see the upside of filling with Gray. Any thoughts?
