DCS Update - Mission Editor Changes

  • There's a couple of new features in the DCS mission editor!
    One great thing is the pop-out text boxes for "Message to" and Scripts actions.
    The other is.... almost a home run.
    (Apparently RUclips didn't like my background music on the last one, even though I have the rights to use it. This is a re-do of my video yesterday)

    Another great use of this new option is the detection of launched missile or droped bombs! In single mission, it's much easier to put the right "voice" to the pilot who launches the missile or drops the bombs!

      You don't want to edit them in a text editor? Like Notepad ++ or VSCode?

    Awesome stuff! I just had an idea. I wonder if I could setup a linked trigger zone around my aircraft while in the hardened shelter and tie it to the weather, to stop the rain from leaking from the roof until I pull out? 🤔😂 God that's soooo immersion breaking! Especially since the rain drop effects are so nice! I've been hoping for a fix since I first noticed the bug (back when the Hornet came out). I'm no programmer, but that bug really doesn't sound like it should be so hard to rectify. Oh well, off to download your updated, latest version of OIR for the F-15E

    Nice! I'm happy about this because I've been having some issues with a moving zone trigger in a mission idea I'm working on. I think this will make it easier to get that working and will make it more resilient. Thanks for the explanation!

    Another update, the linked zone is now working for player aircraft internally so hopefully next patch this will be fixed as well. Thanks!

    In the patch, I was happy they they finally fixed the "client in trigger zone" feature that had been broken in the last patch. For 2 months I had to change a lot of my trigger zones for multiplayer missions I had previously made. In terms of your video, I want to thank you for pointing out those bigger text boxes. That is something I could easily have overlooked. For the "almost a homerun" feature you talked about with moving triggers attached to a unit, I agree that the fact that player or client aircraft can't use this makes it much less appealing. ☹

    You can put a 150 mile trigger zone around a Super Carrier and launch intercepts if an enemy aircraft enters the zone... all A.I. of course.

      I won’t be able to get to that soon. But if you use 7zip to open .miz file, create directories in there
      KNEEBOARD/IMAGES
      And put your jpg or png files in there.
      4x6 format works best IMO.

    That is an amazing feature. I created a mission where two planes have to escort an enemy transport back to their base, and I had to fight to make it work so hardly! It would have been much easier with that. Nevertheless, the fact that it can't be used with flyable planes takes out A LOT of its possibilities... 😕

      It seems like maybe it’s not too hard to add it to play controlled, so hopefully that will come soon.

      @@sedlo absolutely. Still, ED is amazing at changing certain extremely difficult things, very challenging, whilst the ATC stills fail EVERY SINGLE TIME an airplane enters into runway, and didn't change it for years, no matter how many people have been requesting it...

    I can't get the moving zone to work. I got it attached alright, it moves with the selected unit(Blue). But I selected 'When part of coaltion (RED) in zone (Triggersone) show message XXX'. But nothing happens. I tried changing it to 'part of unit' and selected the relevant red unit as well as well. No dice.

      Part of Coalition in zone has been bugged for a while now, I guess it didn’t get fixed with this update.

      Seems like it. However, I use part of coalition in zone for fixed trigger zones and they seem to work, just fyi,
