I've often said that Endless Space 2 is like Stellaris if Stellaris had MUCH more personality, but much less freedom of choice. A lot of 4X strategy games (the 4 x's are actually eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) don't have a lot of personality to allow you to roleplay the empire of your choice, but Endless Space 2 is probably the closest we'll come to an empire-builder with RPG mechanics. It's kinda insane to see all the things you can do...all the options you have...definitely worth giving a peek.
With Origins, Become the Crisis, Federations, and now Overlord, you get a LOT more RP customization in Stellaris. I have this Hive Mind Empire in Stellaris that I modeled after The Mantid from Warcraft, their origin is that their planet has an Ancient Tree of Life, and their sole purpose in life is to find more suitable planets to plant more and more ToLs, and they absorbed the Baol Plantoid people into their Hive Mind, working as caretakers for the Tree of Life and making all of the planets into Gaia Worlds.
This game has got some fantastic art and creativity behind it. And yeah, some of the systems and stars like Auriga are either named after real ones or constellations or other stellar bodies.
I really appreciate these longer reaction videos. I've had medical issues this past month which has caused me to basically be stuck in bed all day. This helps fight the boredom, so thank you for that.
The Riftborn are my favorite faction, their backstory is quite sad. They hail from a peaceful and harmonious dimension, suddenly overrun by an all-consuming disease because of a rift created by the endless. They were forced to flee into an unknown, chaotic dimension, so different from theirs that nothing makes sense. And are now just trying to secure a future for their race. I absolutely love their soundtrack, it's filled with emotion and fits their story extremely well.
Then you realized in their ending they figured out how to convert our universe into their. So for the survival every single species in our system, the Riftborn must be eradicated.
Small correction: they actually outright stated endless space 1 wasn’t cannon, and that dust is actually the remnants of “the lost”, which were gods who were basically sentient spirits of certain planets, and the endless massacred them. The Unfallen’s home planet of Koyasil is thought to be the last surviving lost.
I've played this game a lot with my friend. We always do a random civilization and it's just really fun exploring the universe, not knowing who or where your friend is. This has got to be the most enjoyable 4x multiplayer experience I've ever had.

If I remember correctly, that scene is the start of one of the episodes and that guy who said that ends up in one of those prisons, discovering that wasn't the case. So basically every Star Trek episode ever.
@Deadpoppin would be improbable improbable that it’s all actual felons. Wish the Govt looked at it and said “something is wrong here” but half of the reason it’s like this is their fault. I could go off on a huge rant about what I think happened but I don’t want to get angry so I’ll stop here.
Umbral Choir is extremely vulnerable if it's intentionally targeted FIRST. You pretty much have to play as part of a team to even get to the point where your existence matters. But your enemy (United Empire) formed non-agression pact with Craver boys and used their wealth to feed pirate into lvl 3 detection. Now you are dying by the system, cut off from new planets, your food growth ensures that you won't get enough people to muster the hacking strength and surprise, God Emperor starts developing everything through 3 insanely powerful channels (Which are their outright broken industry, dust instant purchases and influence instant purchases).
I also think Horatio is really cool. The idea of implementing the genes of other races into your own is just really appealing to me. But to be fair, the Umbral Choir are still cooler.

Concerning star names: I just played ES2 the other day and on my fresh Craver's playthrough I started in the Trappist-1 system. Which is pretty cool as it is a relatively recently discovered system, especially the detail that it had planets in the goldilocks-zone where life as we know it can exist. Said planets where discovered in 2016 and 2017 and I was ecstatic to hear alot of games added the system and it's details in patches as information in real life got available. For instance in Elite Dangerous the engine that simulated the milky way galaxy with its 400+ billion systems just happened to create a system roughly in the same spot where Trappist-1 was. When it was later found out Trappist-1 has actually habitable planetst he developers Frontier Development changed the system in a patch to more closely reflect what kind of planets and moons are in that system and named it Trappist-1 Also, incase you wanna know more about Trappist-1: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRAPPIST-1

Please fix the audio level. Your voice is a LOT louder than the video voice - if I put volume to hear the video clearly, you are basically screaming in my headphones.

Wait a second, I don't remember voice actors. Is it a DLC?" And it's when I realize I was talking about "Stellaris" and I've never played "Endless Space 2".
Man I loved this game a ton, although i had a few minor gripes that as time went on turned into major ones. My biggest problem was the alliance system and the fact everyone in the alliance wins together. I quickly learned that having 50% of the galaxy on your side made the game trivial. Please just let me turn alliance victory off so I can play with the boys without the game being a baby game for baby’s.
