Reading through this, maybe it's both. There's not just one clock rewinding, but many. Maybe he's walking through all timelines at once, and manages to save them all. He's only seen in one at a time, but when he plays the song of time, all are set, as many clocks are rewound.
In OOT, Kaepora Gaebora was the reincarnate of Rauru, the sage of light- many gossip stones hint at it. His MM counterpart can't be the same, because that land doesn't have sages. Both games were made on the same engine, alternate world theories aside, so of course the characters look the same, and it's unsurprising they have similar personalities.
Stone Tower is my most memorable Zelda dungeon (having grown up with Majora's Mask), not to mention my favorite dungeon in the entire series. It it also my favorite Zelda song by far. This remake is simply amazing. My thanks to the creator, for making such a beautiful remake to a great classic.
Termina was created by the Majoras Mask from the memories of Link. Link was doomed to become a stalfos when he entered the lost woods in search of Navi. The mask created an ill world (hence terminal=termina), filled with problems in order to help Link gain the years of life experience that he lost in Ocarina of Time.
Tal Tal Heights still my jam. Btw, who agrees on a remake of Link's Awakening? It's not appreciated enough as it should be and that kind of breaks my heart a little. Hell, Majora's Mask mentions and sings Ballad of the Wind Fish and that's originally from Link's Awakening.
They're both dreamlike games and they're both great Zelda games! People always mention how MM is a dreamlike game and that's part of the reason why it stands out and is one of the best Zelda games making it a master piece, but they always forget about LA. :(
Yes! I found it! :D This can be a great song to play during Halloween... I was driving with my friends through a road that cut through some desert mountains quite away from actual residential areas. It was at night and then all of a sudden The Stone Tower Theme comes on my ipod and it scared my friends so much! XD
Please please PLEASE make sheet music, or something.. Maybe a tutorial on how to play? I've been studiny piano for fifteen years and this is more stunning than almost anything I have ever heard!!!! :)
Stone Tower Temple was one of the cooler Zelda Dungeons since you had to turn the whole building upside down multiple times to clear it. Maybe they should have inverted the theme in it's flipped mode.
Epic_stuff No but seriously I don't get it. What are those 45 seconds of noise in the beginning doing there? It's just annoying and wasting time when everyone's there for the piano.
And if anyone still thinks it impossible to rewind time, well think about this, sheik says and I qoute "As long as you hold the Ocarina of Time and the Master Sword, you hold time itself in your hands" that means that during the events of Majora's mask, half of time itself is in his possession. This means htat he can control how it flows and how it works. If he wants to reinsert himself at another point in time than he can do that, even if that means he replaces his prior self.
The gif there was from back a long time ago when gifs were allowed anyone who has one uploaded it when it was possible and never overwrite it with the updated youtube setup.
the reset after the three-day-cycles or the manual reset through song of time, don´t rewind, it´s a loop. you jump back to the an earlier point in time, so everything you achieved in the last cycle didn´t happen yet ( that´s why you have to repeat the trigger events again and again)
Skull Kid didn't had friends, so he was all alone and sad, but he found 2 fairies deep in lost woods, then they robbed the Happy Mask seller and they robbed the Majora's Mask, which make him evil, after attacking link and link following him, they both dropped through the secret passage, period.
that guy who owns the bank in majora's mask is a freakin time traveler or something!!! you reset time but he still has your money from before you reset..... your mind = blown
I can't believe I can play this on piano. It's not even that hard, but the song sounds fantastic and difficult and amazing and I never thought I would get it down this quickly. But the piano solo can't compare to this.
The game came out not long after OOT. They used many of the same characters to save time and not have to make many more- its been stated in interviews with designers. Thus, the paralleled characters may not need some 'other worldly' explanation, and being in another country is reasonable- there are a lot of theories after all. I mean, on the mask salesman's bag is a mask of Mario, but there are no theories of Mario being cursed into a mask. XD Some details are for convenience, not always theories
According to the Hyrule Historia, Termina is a "Strange parallel world, where many of the inhabitants look identical to the people of Hyrule." (P.111) also in the Hyrule Historia "Using the Ocarina of Time, Link was able to rewind the passage of time to three days before the moon fell." (P.112)
Remember in Majora's mask when you speak to the owl again? He mentions how he recognizes you from the other game and says, "this is a rare site, you are the fairy child correct?
At the end of OOT Navi goes away flying. And at the beginning of MM it says that Link started hes quest trying to find that "friend" (refers to Navi). Also you should actually read the Wiki, it says Termina is a parallel world to Hyrule, that's why we have the same characters on OOT and MM but with different personalities!
I find it horrifying that Link leaves that many timelines to be destroyed. Like I said, Nintendo would have acknowledged it. When Link goes back in time in Ocarina of Time's ending, he simply disappears and wakes up back as a child. In Majora's Mask, he falls back through a portal of time to the dawn of the first day. Besides, Link knew it was different, since he went to a new timeline before. There is surely a difference.
But when he said that, he lifted the Mask up a little - i think Majora itself took complete control of SK after that scene - somewhere when Link latched onto SK and got dragged through the woods.
_see numerous links running about. Or, if the effects you have on one timeline followed you, each dimension you make is pre-determined, and you are in there after the previous link was, constantly changing each dimension....or you could just be spawned ontop of the previous link and he just stops existing.
Goodness, it's hard when everyone's against you. XD I don't deny that the lost woods has mysterious powers, but I still think its entirely possible that Termina is another country near Hyrule- it makes sense, since Ganon wanted to take over Hyrule, and then move on to the world. Therefore, Hyrule is not an entire world, as people seem to say it is when they say that Termina is a parallel to it. If it was an entire parallel, it'd probably have similar places, and not just similar people, I think.
Very good theory, what with links memories. But I do NOT think it's just another country. The lost woods is a mysterious place - it houses the Master Sword, can turn people into Stalfos, and has teleportation abilities. It most definitely could transport someone to a different dimension.
That's how a lot people interpret it, but I still believe that people look alike due to the same engine- making less new characters meant they could make game faster. Rather than another world, I think Termina is another country. The Lost Woods in OOT never took Link to other dimensions, just other places, I think that's what happened... Still, there are a lot of parallels, and heavy symbol on growing up and becoming a man- it could be a world created from Links' memories by Majora.
You're not necessarily right, but you're not really wrong either. You can look at it both ways, in that you either reset the timeline or create a new one. One way to interpret the games story is that when you go back you create a new timeline, which in turn puts emphasis on the theme of futility that's present through the whole game (I mean seriously, the world is called "Termina") in that even though you control time you can't succeed in all your goals and help everyone in the final timeline.
It is parallel in a sense, in that it is parallel to Hyrule, but if what you meant was it was in its own universe, it wouldn't be possible because Link remembers the Ocarina of Time from the previous game of the same name
Beautiful theme remix. I keep hitting replay! Requests...let's see. Oh! Ballad of the Windfish. I love the Link's Awakening game and it is a really pretty song that could be awesomely remade.
True, but the different dimension theory explains the reuse of all the character designs and is also backed up by the manga (which is technically non-cannon but still). Also, I'd like to hear what you guys think the symbols that Link saw when falling were all about if he wasn't falling through dimensions.
No, he either change time or rewind it. What would be the point of just "moving" to another timeline? It's horrible to assume that Link ditches the current Termina and leaves it to destruction. Shigeru Miyamoto would have acknowledged this. And yes, Link rewinds time. Why wouldn't he be able to? What do you think the clocks are there for? The point of MM is that you CONTROL time. You can slow it, speed it up, and rewind it.
then what do you think skullkid means at the end of the game when he says "you smell like that fairy kid who taught me that song in the woods."? maybe cuz he WAS that fairy kid who taught him saria's song in the lost woods
The song lost it's dark feel with the soothing instruments, and it seems the notes were slightly changed. It's actually quite calming, even with the large change, it's still an amazing and slightly unsettling song. By the way... What the fuck with that ending. Haha creepiest part.
Are you freaking serious? It is the complete opposite. When Link plays the Song of Time, he is shown going back in time. Or, better yet, 'falling' back through time. Notice the clocks around him. Link rewinds time in Majora's Mask. Either way, it wouldn't create a new timeline each time if he did go back in time. The only reason there was a split in OoT was because Link used two different modes of time travel: the Master Sword and the Ocarina of Time. So yes, he does rewind time.
I won't because you're wrong. I know I'm right. The freaking main area is called Clock Town. The game is all about time. Like I said before, you can rewind, forward, and slow time. It's the game's central focus.
Do not put instructions in your description! If they can't spare the time to listen properly then those poor hasty souls do NOT DESERVE IT! Great rendition.Thank you
How do you explain the memories of young zelda, and getting epona in majoras mask? He must have gotten the horse somehow, and warned zelda of ganon, then departed.
I think so thy're connected too but its on the opposite side of death mountain cause you see it in the distance at least i think that is death mountain
that theory has not been proven. considering majora's mask continues off of the timeline of kid link after ocarina of time.. as such his memories with the ocarina when he first retrieves it in majora's mask.
Reading through this, maybe it's both. There's not just one clock rewinding, but many. Maybe he's walking through all timelines at once, and manages to save them all. He's only seen in one at a time, but when he plays the song of time, all are set, as many clocks are rewound.

It's times like this where I'm glad to be a nerd.
Damn, I finally found the remix of this song that was on another zelda youtube Video! Cool.
Am i a nerd? I didn't really realize it!
2:19 always blows me away!
This is legit one of my favorite musical compositions of all time. This song sounds amazing on almost everything
The real video is called: Stone Tower Instrumental Remix. I listen to it everyday. :]
James Scott yea but it's a different song
They're both dreamlike games and they're both great Zelda games!
People always mention how MM is a dreamlike game and that's part of the reason why it stands out and is one of the best Zelda games making it a master piece, but they always forget about LA. :(
Bruh I'm glad your wish came true
Please read the description and indeed the top comment as I did not make this song, neither have I claimed to make it.
Yes! I found it! :D
This can be a great song to play during Halloween...
I was driving with my friends through a road that cut through some desert mountains quite away from actual residential areas. It was at night and then all of a sudden The Stone Tower Theme comes on my ipod and it scared my friends so much! XD
This song is relaxing in a weird way...
peace has been brought to the wandering souls of Ikana Canyon by the beauty of this cover.
Time cannot be Rewound. Link merely goes back in time but THAT Termina that he left is destroyed.
Please please PLEASE make sheet music, or something.. Maybe a tutorial on how to play? I've been studiny piano for fifteen years and this is more stunning than almost anything I have ever heard!!!! :)
This transports me back to another era.
Stone Tower Temple was one of the cooler Zelda Dungeons since you had to turn the whole building upside down multiple times to clear it. Maybe they should have inverted the theme in it's flipped mode.
Interesting fact: In Skyward Sword, Zelda has a Tingle doll in her room. THERE IS NO ESCAPE.
so sad but what a great song from one of the best zelda games ever in my book
I got chills up my spine from this. like emotional nostalgic chills.
0:45 You're welcome.
***** No thanks.
Epic_stuff No but seriously I don't get it. What are those 45 seconds of noise in the beginning doing there? It's just annoying and wasting time when everyone's there for the piano.
***** I agree.
+Metaknightkirby2 the suspense :O
@@Metaknightkirby2 I know I'm five years late, but it's called an intro.
Wow, all the comments here are so well thought-out and conversational. It's refreshing! Kudos to you!
Wow slowed down Stone Tower on piano so wonderful done.
That was really beautiful. The piano captures the mood really well and then adds something more.
I believe the name of this song is "Stone Tower" by Second Chance. Such an amazing remix.
I love this version. it sounds beautiful

Also, I'm pretty sure that in the manga he achieved everything on his second run through. Which is mighty impressive of him.
Gorgeous.. intro and everything.
The gif there was from back a long time ago when gifs were allowed anyone who has one uploaded it when it was possible and never overwrite it with the updated youtube setup.
Actually, the tree you fall in is the passage, the twisted corridor leading to the door with a lock is the gate.
the reset after the three-day-cycles or the manual reset through song of time, don´t rewind, it´s a loop. you jump back to the an earlier point in time, so everything you achieved in the last cycle didn´t happen yet ( that´s why you have to repeat the trigger events again and again)
This music can make people cry u.u It's so beautiful...
That wasn't the Skull Kid speaking. That was the deity Majora, in control of the Skull Kid's body, as it had been the entire game up until the end.
Skull Kid didn't had friends, so he was all alone and sad, but he found 2 fairies deep in lost woods, then they robbed the Happy Mask seller and they robbed the Majora's Mask, which make him evil, after attacking link and link following him, they both dropped through the secret passage, period.

Ballad of the Windfish.
I love the Link's Awakening game and it is a really pretty song that could be awesomely remade.

Yes, I did not make this song.

But was Link really looking for Navi or the Skull Kid? What makes it so great and so frustrating at the same time is that they never really tell you.
I've listened to this about 20 times by now. I love it!, now subscribed ^^
My pottery is no longer safe o_o *hides display of vases and pots*
that's not my argument, where you start out in mm is lost woods
god damn this is awesome
I'm surprised to even see such a debate: i thought the fact Termina is parallel to Hyrule was canon.
omfg, this is AMAZING

It was not the tree... it was the Happy Mask Salesman.
They go back through the corridor.
The song lost it's dark feel with the soothing instruments, and it seems the notes were slightly changed. It's actually quite calming, even with the large change, it's still an amazing and slightly unsettling song. By the way... What the fuck with that ending. Haha creepiest part.
You deserve way more credit
the game flat out tells you that link left hyrule to find a dear friend of his...and he has the KOKIRI SWORD where do you think that came from...hmmm
it is confirmed that Termina is parallel.
Termina is a parallel world?
False. Link actually stumbles upon it in the lost woods whilst running from the grief he had in losing Navi.
Zelda games have some of the best music in all video games, hands down.
Magic. thats all there needs to be said
Are you freaking serious? It is the complete opposite. When Link plays the Song of Time, he is shown going back in time. Or, better yet, 'falling' back through time. Notice the clocks around him. this is exactly the tempo I play this song I love this!!!
I skipped this song because of the beggining. now that I acualy listen to it, It goes on my top 10
.Gif is a magical thing
sounds so sad

Wonderful!!!

How do you explain the memories of young zelda, and getting epona in majoras mask? He must have gotten the horse somehow, and warned zelda of ganon, then departed.
Its confirmed that Termina is a Parallel world, so it cant be a theory :o
I don't know the answer to everything. But Termina is a parallel world. You may not like that it is. But it is.
I need to learn this..
I think so thy're connected too but its on the opposite side of death mountain cause you see it in the distance at least i think that is death mountain

i used to have this on my Ipod Nano :D
Well, the tree link falls through was in the Lost Woods.
genial tu version del tema!!
