Recycling!….. Win Win Nic ; good for the environment. Good for your brain! Win Win especially given it’s a POO TROL from last century! Keep up the perfectionism you will be rewarded many times over when your sitting by a fire in the wilderness with the a lemon squash in hand admiring how she stands in the light eh!! Not to mention how many duel cabs you drove around stuck on the tracks that day. Respect; CB.
Great stuff. It brings back memories of my father's skills as a fitter machinist and in his later life a evaporative air con manufacturer in his NSW country big shed. I love your shed set up. Keep on going. Cheers.
Hola desde España,os sigo desde hace tiempo y me gusta mucho lo que hacéis,precioso coche para un proyecto de restauración,ánimo con el que al final será una buena maquina,un gran saludo.
Keep recording mate, I’ll watch the project build through to the end, very interesting. Will it be easier to modify the radiator support (condenser and radiator placement), as opposed to modifying the front fenders I wonder?
Seems like it would’ve been easier to sit the G60 on the GQ chassis and modify it to suit and then repair what’s left of the rust with new metal and the GQ panels/floor pan parts where necessary? That’s how I would’ve tackled this project as there doesn’t seem to be many reference points left to work off. Would be much less work. Rust repairs aren’t that bad once you get stuck into them, especially since you have a brake to make patch panels etc. Lengthening the bonnet and front guards wouldn’t be an option for me as the extra work involved will be very time consuming and warping them with welding heat could be a headache you don’t want to deal with. Also, if you damage the bonnet or guards, standard parts won’t fit requiring modifications which means more work and time.
I'm pretty sure he addressed it in an earlier video, that it is easier for him to get it engineered and registered by putting the G60 panels onto the GQ body, even though it takes more time and work.
@@KarlEller Fair call. There’s some rather odd rules in Australia! Just it doesn’t seem like there’s much GQ left to go off in terms of datum points and hanging G60 parts off if that’s his goal. Should’ve left as much original parts intact from both vehicles and worked in sections at a time to get it together as a GQ with G60 exterior, then worried about tidying it up in terms of rust etc and final welding. Would’ve made life much easier I think.
Maybe don't lengthen the bonnet, just build a 'bulge' into firewall under windscreen to fit curved GQ firewall which will push bonnet forward 50mm to suit lengthening of guards
Love this content, please keep it up. Its just as interesting to see a car being built as it is to see it on the tracks.
Cheers.
Great stuff mate. This is really one of a kind.
Keep at it, your hard work will pay off.
Love watching this build
This is a great series, I'm really enjoying it.
Serious challenge which is why I look forward to each vid. . . . .
Wouldn’t miss a second of it mate 👍🍻
I’m glad you have taken on this project and happy with what you are doing. It would be more than I could keep interested in. Thanks for the video.

Definitely want more ,interesting to see how you need to comply for engineering.
Excellent works mate. I’m a huge G60 fan (I have 6 🤦♂️) and I like the different take your doing with your. Keep the videos coming 👍👍👍

It has been agony waiting for updates so please keep at it. I have an L60 and want to use an Xterra like you’re using the GQ.

Nic rather than going 70mm in the guard / bonnet, would it be better to extend the lot by 100 Mil as then you would an extra 30mm as a just in case?
Interesting? Hell yeah!
Put a 4.8 in it!
