I was just thinking the same thing. I want to be able to look at everything. I better plan on driving, or ship it back to Kansas city. Because there's no way it will fit on a plane lol.
Rachel: both the shelf and lamp were winners! The paper choice for the shelf was really nice. The color for the lamp was well chosen. Carol from California
Loved the shelf! Sorry about your week. If I lived where the weather was like that, I would be saving every penny I could to move. Lol. We southerners (North Carolina) do not do well with snow and cold. The lamp was pretty, too. Thanks for sharing. Hope next week is better!
Me too!! haha!! I'm glad you found the video helpful - I was really thrilled with how much I liked the painted metal - definitely something I will do again!! :) Glad you liked it!!! Thank you!
Rachel, yippee for having a son that is a plumber! What a blessing that was. 10"! We got about 1 1/2 inch but it was dry so easy to shovel. Except for the bending part. LOL Got a little more last night but it is kind of icy. Wasn't such a joy to shovel. Now, about the SHELF, girl we need to talk. You are amazing with the vision you have for some pieces and this shelf shows it. Hands down my favorite of everything I have ever seen you do. That would look perfect in my sewing room with my antiques. WOW. Just can't seem to find the right words. Gorgeous, stunning, incredible? They don't seem to be enough so how about Perfect. That seems to express what I see when I see that. The lamp turned out beautiful. Liked the Farm Fresh color. On screen it was a pretty almost seaside blue. It was a very peaceful color. Glad you were able to get anything done this week with all that was on your plate. Have a good weekend, take a nice hot bath and relax those muscles. ☺ See you on Tues!
I'm glad you liked the shelf so much - it was an interesting and fun piece to work on and I was really happy with how it came out (and of course a little thankful that I liked the look of the painted metal, lol). I will definitely be painting more metal in the future with the DIY paint!! :) And Farm Fresh is a pretty color - it fits in with just about everything and would absolutely be a great keystone color for a coastal display. I sometimes wish coastal decor made more sense here - I have always loved the greenish blue tones . . . And boy do I wish I could use my bathtub on snow shoveling days, but the darn thing has a leaky drain and I have been banned from using it until it's fixed . . . and who knows how long that will be . . . haha!! Anyway - thank you! :)
@@theeclecticcottagespokane Gal, I hear you on leaky drains. Ours has one also. That is too bad because I would sure soak in it on bad back days. LOL (Like after shoveling our snowy ice.) So I was seeing the color of Farm Fresh correctly, sometimes you just can't tell. This color doesn't have to be coastal, there are plenty of lakes around there, just have a lake theme. The urn you just painted would look right at home in a lake theme. Outdoorsy. Unless you are one of those folks that have aa concrete floor in your house, then it would be indoorsy. LOL Have a good night Rachel.
I just came across your channel and loved it! I've done a lot of diy's over the years. Small to large projects. I quilt, voleenteer and teach sewing. At 74 my life is full. I absolutely love both projects! What's not to love. Keep up the lively work and I'll be watching you. Blessings
❤Rachel, I absolutely love the lamp. That!! shade that came with it -along with how You transformed the base ..Simply BEAUTIFUL!!❤❤. Ps: Glad your frozen pipes headache has been taken care of..wheww!
I love the lamp! I would however put a different shade on it. Love your videos! You feed my passion, and give me wonderful ideas! Please sell your stuff online too!
Awe!! Thank you so much - I love that you find my videos helpful!! I'm glad you liked the lamp - even if the shade isn't your favorite! :) And I hope to eventually sell my decor online - the logistics of storing boxes and shipping materials in my tiny shop with little space is a bit of a hindrance that I am trying to figure out a way to overcome . . . :)
Thank you!! And I always look forward to Spring - it is my favorite time of the year, but I am no where near ready for it - still too much to do before then, lol!! :)
You could try a couple different colors and styles and see how it looks. I love the look of the lamp. The finish is great. I have a metal shelf that needs some something. It just is blah and sure needs a facelift. Maybe they need a lighter paint. ❤
The lamp is brilliant! Covering the brass like you did..... So clever. I have a very similar wood lamp that I love, but I will love it more now that you've motivated me. Thanks!
The shelf turned out so beautiful as did the lamp but I would have to change the shade. Not that the shade looked bad just that it wouldn’t blend in my decor. I really liked that paper choice but I’m always excited with your makeovers. Snow seems to be everyone’s challenge right now and the cold. I just wish we could have had some at Christmas. Now this next week comes the January thaw for us…sloppy and messy but I guess that’s what winter is. Looking forward to what you share with us next Rachael but I’m betting it’s gonna be good!!!:):):)
Good morning… Project 1 - the color is really pretty! And I’m one of those people who love distressing so it really compliments the lamp. Project 2 - painting that metal was a great idea. I am wondering that if you stained the shelves a richer darker honey color that might have given the piece a more upscale appearance?? BUT I’m a cottage core fan and the beautiful decoupage paper you chose was a great look.
Well I'm glad you liked them! And for the shelf I was definitely wanting that shabby chic look, but I suppose you could have sanded the shelves down to stain them if that's not the look you wanted. :)
I love both! But the lamp was probably my favorite! I love all the older lamps! Do you spray paint out side when it’s cold? I was just wondering because I have some items to do and it’s very cold where I live! Have a great weekend and see you Tuesday!
I'm so glad you liked them!! :) And I do spray paint outside as long as it's not TOO cold - I wouldn't do it when it's like 15 degrees . . . but as long as it's close to freezing and I can get out and spray and back in where it's warm relatively quickly, then yes - I will spray. But I make sure my paint and my item are both room temperature and I spend as little time outside as possible and bring the item in immediately to dry inside . . . if that makes sense! It's probably not the "recommended" thing to do - but sometimes you just have to roll with what you've got! :)
Love the shelf! That decoupage paper was beautiful and added just the right touch!
I think so too! Glad you liked it! Thank you!
You give me courage to paint metal. Your painted shelf was amazing!
Yay! I'm glad!! :) Thank you!!
I love them both! Thanks for sharing the metal hand painting procedure.
You are so welcome! Thank you!!
I loved both of your projects, you are very talented ❤
Awe - that is so sweet of you to say - thank you!
Both turned out really nice. My favorite was the shelf! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely in love with the shelf ❤❤❤😊
I'm so glad! :) Thank you!
I loved the rack, paper so pretty.
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
I absolutely love the shelf. This coming summer I see a road trip in my future to Spokane, and I will stop by.
I was just thinking the same thing. I want to be able to look at everything. I better plan on driving, or ship it back to Kansas city. Because there's no way it will fit on a plane lol.
Glad you liked the shelf! And that would be awesome - hopefully you make it here! :)
The shelf is beautiful too❤thanks for the inspiration Rach!
Love both. But the shelf was my favorite. You are very talented.
Thanks so much! 😊

Beautiful projects. Now I know I can paint metal with DIY paint.
Thank you!! And me, too!! :)
I love that you painted the shelf!
I'm glad! I was so nervous about it but I love how it came out!! Thank you!

Haha - my husband would move us out of here in a heartbeat if I would go - he hates the cold, lol. Glad you liked the projects - thank you so much!!
The metal looks stunning! The decoupage shelves were just the right touch! I’ve learned a new technique! Thank you! 😊

I love the shelf. Looking for one for the brick wall by my stove.
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
I loved the shelf! ❤. The liked the lamp but not the shade.
I'm glad you liked them - and that shade has definitely gotten mixed reviews, lol!! Thank you!

I love the shelf and the lamp but I wonder what the lamp would look like with the shade a different color...😊
I have painted many a lamp shade, but I wasn't about to try and tackle all of those tassels! lol. Glad you liked them! Thank you!
You could try a couple different colors and styles and see how it looks. I love the look of the lamp. The finish is great.

Love your projects! You have inspired me to paint a brass lamp that I have that definitely needs some help.
Thank you!! And I'm glad!! I hope it turns out beautifully!! :)
I love the shelf. I have a similar one, now I know what to do with it.
