Nice job. Your brother took had the right person bring it back to life. Nicely done showing the results of Metallicut. I have been enjoying it myself. Also for showing Cquartz Leather and explaining how to use it. I enjoy using it on my leather and vinyl interior. I just coated the vinyl dash on my daily driver with it to see how it does.

Very grateful for the educational value of this experiment, especially as a Vespa owner & lover myself.
I'd request that you attack a newer wide body model too (e.g.GTS300), as they are relatively very decent quality, and classically stylish, so the results should be great. Vespas have been growing hugely in popularity this last couple of decades.

Sandro, that's so much effort for such a neglected vehicle, but goes to show how you can still make huge improvements to the finish. Congrats on another incredible transformation. 👍

  • @GreenWitch1

I think videos of this nature have a lot of value. It just shows what can be achieved on a poor finish & could motivate someone that’s given up to give it a go. Or, in my case is inspiring that I can achieve a good result. Speaking of ceramic coatings, do you have a suggestion for a good product that isn’t terribly expensive that can be purchased at a local auto parts store?

Sandro, that's not orange peel - that's a pineapple peel! LOL! Great job! That's a lot of work...came out amazing especially considering what you had to work with. I'm really glad you did the video because sometimes all people are after are improvement. Working on high-end near perfect vehicles probably actually takes the least amount of pure talent. Taking something hammered like this and making it look amazing takes real talent and patience. PS - if you don't know the story behind the Vespa do yourself a favor and find the documentary about it. That little scooter helped pull Italy out of the post WWII hole it was in.

  • @dodge1724

One your best videos , sometimes the vehicles honesty is what we want to see come through and not just ultra shiny paint - the worst thing your brother could do to it is have it painted ... a good detailing was the perfect choice - I ride Vespas too - you should film customer reactions sometimes- brilliant videos thank you

  • @KipBurbank1

Vespa project is smart, you don't need to mask any parts against water cleaning pressure or soap, just need to be accurate when you split water on some parts of scooter :-) Carburettor air entrance on nose have holes in the bottom of chassis to drain water and tachometer have a nice rubber grommet all around it.

I love your work Sandro...and please dont get me wrong...but honestly why go through all the trouble..when a respray would be quite an easy diy job and achieve a much better outcome with years of life put back onto the panels..even with your work the paint is technically thinner now and would need to be dealt with in a matter of time anyway...how much did you charge for the job...i bet the cost of paint and materials would come in close....lovely presentation and as always a top notch job!!! Also why dont we ever see you..the star of the show!!

It is too bad you are in Oz and not near where I live because I would have a project for you.
I restored a 1963 GL Vespa about 13 years ago. It was a bare metal strip and respray with high quality Glasurit paint, NOS parts and re-chroming. Kids came alone and the scooter has sat in the garage as a target for errant skateboards and bicycles
I pulled the Vespa out a few weeks ago to get it running again and noticed some of the scars from 13 years of being a bicycle magnet
If nothing else, I will find a detailer locally and get them to watch your instructional video

I´d really like to try and get better at it, actual detailing and stuff like that but im not sure where to start since im somewhat of a perfectionist, aka i´d rather take my bike apart and literally make it new than to just clean it. obviously thats not always gonna work tho. So, what would you recommend for starting up? what tools and cleaners should make the base?

Sandro have you ever burnt through the clear coat? I just spent last 5 days correcting my mazda 3 mps, was doing the whole car with the blue hdo pads and precision, using shine mate polishers both mini and the 605, I did the whole car without issue, but when I went to start the polishing phase I noticed that there were still quite a few defects left on the roof, so I went with the lake country MF pads and The last cut to try and get out the last of the stubborn defects, I think I may have left the polisher spinning in the same spot for a few seconds as I was adjusting around the cable, and then with the later wipe off I noticed an area around 10mm x 10mm that was standing out, and yep it burnt through the clear in that area, so pretty disappointed in the end, now knowing that I would need a roof respray to sort the issue, the car does have slight damage on the bonnet that I was going to fix this year anyway, but a sobering experience nonetheless, I just quickly measured the paint thickness around the affected area and it is from 115-120 Microns, and I think I already did 2 sets of passes prior to this attempt with the MF pads, just want to learn something from this experience.
