      Hi Safe&SoundEquine. Any suggestions?

    How do you calculate the measurements at the end? Get the total of measurements and divide by 2?

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  3 года назад

      No math is needed. You just read the hematocrit value off the outside disc.

      @@VivoPhys you mean the hematocrit of the RBC will be 52 as it shows that

    Well explained.

    Wait… you have to fill all the way to the line? I thought it 3 quarter full

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  8 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on the device. For this device, you can determine hematocrit regardless of how much you fill it, but more gives you a bit more precision than less.

      @@VivoPhys I have a question, I did my hematocrit lab today, and I could not seem to get the exact number as automated my teacher given but mine still within the +/-2 SD and normal range, wouldn’t that be acceptable?
      I mixed the blood at least 10 times before capillary tube, I tend to put more but the reading is like 1-3 numbers higher than the true value so I don’t know what could be wrong. Do you think letting blood sample sit out in room temp. all day before testing can affect result or what could make my reading a bit higher? 😩

      You'll need to ask your instructor what the acceptable range is, but I'd imagine if you're within a couple of their value or is fine.

    Why we can't use normal centrifuges

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  5 лет назад +1

      You need to spin whole blood in a capillary tube. So any centrifuge with that attachment will work.

    Was that a 52% HCT reading that you shown?

      @VivoPhys  2 года назад +1

      It's likely just some dehydration or slight measurement error in this case.
