Can You Use This TikTok Hack to Make Custom-Size Ziploc Bags? | Hack or Wack

- On its surface, this hack seems reckless and dangerous. You heat up a chef’s knife on an open burner on your stove, and then slice through a resealable plastic bag. Supposedly, the heat from the knife will seal the sides of the bag, giving you a new half-sized bag that works just as well as the original.
Now, I would not normally recommend you heat up a sharp object at home until it is red-hot and then start hacking away at some bits of plastic, but this was for science.

Should’ve filled with water to see if it actually sealed.
Its not actually sealed, it has tiny holes in it ( i tried it myself by putting water into it, and i tried it a lot of times with different knifes. But it didn't work..)
definatly didnt watch this to make my big bag into small ones to store drugs
😂
If you do this you'll fuck up the heat treatment of the knife and it will become dull forever. Use a knife you don't want to use anymore or you don't care about, but never use your good knife.
ThAt's a g👀d hAck🪓! Pun intended 🤪
why do we need smaller ziplock bags?
my answer: lil baby druggie bags
To waste less plastic

I literally just googled how to do this. I have gallon bags, but no smaller ones. Trying to store leftovers in portions. Worked like a charm!!! Thank you!!!
The internet is so awesome. I searched for this exact hack thinking I'm weird for wanting to know if there's a way to do this...and here it is.
This is the perfect hack for me! Thank you for sharing! I needed the mini bags to store batteries on flashlights and camping lanterns in case of power outages. This is perfect!
Metallurgy 101: How to ruin a knife’s temper.
was curious if it’d ruin your knife!
Hey, not everybody has a gas stove! What's the alternative?
😂
A lighter 🤯

I definitely like hack or wack. Thanks for testing things for us, keep up the good work
Muh weeeed!
L❤be that RUclips's system requires this to have the alternate "ENGLISH TRANSLATION" bar auto-added to this statement 😂
So totally going to be using this for party favors for my daughter's birthday that doesn't necessarily need a full sized snack bag. It will give better presentation without having to buy more bags
And thats how you fuck up a knife!
Now instead of a stainless steel knife, you guys gotta some untempered ones.
Thats also "science"
Does heating a knife like they did actually degrade it? I never considered that.
@@jaerivus Yep it absolutely could re-temper the steel to make it softer than ideal. This is why it’s also not a great idea to put knives in the dishwasher. Metallurgy is crazy stuff.
@@audimaster5000 You seem like you know a thing or two (e.g. "metallurgy"), and I thank you for sharing!
@audimaster5000 is this just your cooking knives or everyday cutlery knives as well?
Searched this up For frozen yogurt. Like gogurts. Have tubs of yogurt didn’t wanna buy the gogurt boxes if it’s the same thing .
Perfect! I need to make a long tube shaped bag
Bc ✏️✏️✏️ pencils need custom extra tiny sizes
It didn’t work for me 😢 I heated the knife until it turned black but it just cut the bag in half, no seal
Same 😢
@@Unicornlove14oh no!
This is probably how they are made.... A long strip of bag, that just gets cut down to size by a hot end.
I have an electric stove top
You can use a thin wire and a battery. Thats how I cut styrofoam and ziplock bags… small bags are used for distribution of small samples. Just saying… use your imagination.
Could U tell me how U do it? Need to store some herbs and spices
@Peter Hugi-kennerly 😏
trying to carry tiny craft beads for sewing onto a plane but you can only take 350 ml of beads with you
Forgot to buy valentines baggies for my kids class. Here we are. Glad it was legit.
I cane searching for this because i wanted to freeze individual servings of steamed spinach. The smallish size was a touch too big. And not matter how well you disperse the air out it seems to get back in and you get ice in your spinache.
🤔
I am actually doing this rn because I have a bunch of colored beads and want to put them in snack bags but they are still too big.
Going to try right now!
Sorted all my beads n sandwich bags too large; I refuse to spend more $ on smaller bags such as snack bags
Well I have snack bag but I need to store my Güasacaca Sauca that I just made and this comes handy. ¡Gracias!
What if you don't have a gas stove to heat your knife in? Can you heat it in boiling water?
Obviously, you’ve never done hot knives before.😂 Nice video, I think I’ll try.
Great for heat sealing decorated cookies instead of spending $200 on heat sealing machine
So I accidentally bought the big bags (shopped online) so this is the scenario for me
For what kind of things do u need this tiny bags??? 😅🤪

I’m selling buttons, jewelry, etc.
*What kind of necromancy is this and Why would it be needed* Apparently, Jordan has no children or obvious use for saving money or another size of Ziploc bag.🙄 I think this is genius because I have been doing this since the 80s...splitting plastic bags, that is. I cut the bags in half and used the edge of the iron or a cigarette lighter to seal it, tho'. it WORKED!😂❤
I’m using this hack for boiled eggs! I had to make 2 dozen to donate to swim meet concessions and don’t want to waste a whole sandwich baggy each!
Great! Using them for selling jewelry
This is really not worth it. First of all, you have to heat the knife up which is wasting your natural gas on your stove, which cost you money. Next, the knife is going to get dirty by putting some plastic on the blade, although it'd be a little amount. You'll have to wash the knife. Personally, I think the cost of the natural gas and also having to wash the knife is not worth the cost of one ziplock bag... and then you have to worry if the direct flame heat would damage the knife, costing you even more money. If you really want to see a good useful hack that works then watch the one on RUclips about folding the bottled water case in half. That one really works, is very useful and cost absolutely nothing.
Well now I know how to sell my drugs insta baggies 😊
Nick's or dimes bags or quarter Bags, 8balls etc Thank you very much.

Necromancy??? Huh!
Guys, thanks! 🍬🧁💕🎄🥳💌After making some delicious fudge cake I send friends, and getting the USPS small priority📨 boxes that are an atypical size, I needed a way to send it, but still fit neatly+snuggly, sealed so in didn't dry out nor bounce around in box.
