Yeah, you can even hear some of their influence in his phrasing. Lots of stuff he played in this one reminded me of a lot of Trivium's earlier catalog, Crusade and Shogun in particular.

I think this was Jared's best yet. He really brought his A game. I feel like he kinda held his own against such a crazy good guitarist.

OK... the first time I watched Nina.... I mean... this video, I didn't realize that the sound was turned off. It's even better with the audio. But any whey... 0:56 for Nina and 1:20 for Jared is where you both went from the Greek Philosphy of: Shredding for Shredding's Sake into Art for Art's Sake. The melodic/rythmic content was far more pleasing than the cooking an egg at fifty-paces riffs. More shredded cheese, please.

Both are great. As far as effort expended per sick lick, Nita wins hands down. Jared is tensing up to aggressively rip through those alternate picking flurries. Nita looks like she could shred at that level all day without breaking a sweat.

Nita is great and much, MUCH easier on the eyes than you bro, but you took this one my man. :) As Satriani once said about Paul Gilbert: sometimes the best way to show off a thoroughbred racehorse is watch it go strolling along. Or something like that.
I got that too. His sweeps are still very shreddy and formula, but his melodies and phrasing was really good this time around.
