    Excellent briefing on the winds, current, sea state/wave height, proximity to land and Bass Strait and then up river to the finish. This all before the race. There is such context given to understand and put in perspective the choices that the winning class skippers made throughout the race. Makes it much more enjoyable and educational as a problem solving exercise. Variables and Conditions + Choice + Fastest possible boatspeed = best desired results. Again really excellent!!!

    It's been so interesting watching your analysis of the great Vendee' race a few months ago. I continue to follow this channel and do the best I can as a land-locked fellow--BUT ONE OF THESE DAYS! Lol, love the boats, the technology, the amazing skill set and courage--really inspiring, no matter what your craft! I'v noticed you, too, have advanced your own knowledge and wisdom as a sailor. Bravo, and Merry Christmas! from deep in the heart of Texas.

    Florian, love your show mate and the detail you get into. BUT - the start is in Sydney Harbour (Not Jervis bay which you kept showing on the map.) they do not sail under the bridge, the start lines are always the same regardless of wind and the fast boats start at the front - far too dangerous to have those 100 Foot super maxis work through a fleet of 100 small boats in the confines of Sydney harbour. Tough conditions this year and a real tacticians race - good luck ! (And check your expected finish time)

    Thanks for the analysis. Going to be a tough race with the strong southerly. Note for the start they actually put the fastest boats on the furthest forward start line and the slowest on the last start so that the fast boats don’t need to go through the slower boats. Not enough room on Sydney harbour for that to happen! They have various different offset marks as the boats leave the harbour and turn south, depending on which start line is used, so that the distance sailed equalises the staggered start line.

    Laughed so much at the flaming goblet of wine motif! Perhaps it should be, “Welcome to the Dark Side”.

    i THINK YOU HAVE STARTED YOUR VIRTUAL RACE IN jERVIS bAY, NOT sYDNEY hARBOUR WHICH IS FURTHER nORTH.

  • @robthompson7174
    @robthompson7174 2 года назад +2

    Well of course you're going to win if you start the race in Jervis Bay instead of a couple of hundred kilometers further north in Sydney Harbour where everyone else if forced to start. That's cheating Florian !!!😂

      @@SeawolvesTV OK, well I'm calling a foul and will register a protest. I want you to stay in Jervis Bay until I get to Bermagui which is the same distance further south ( 153 km) from Point Perpendicular at the heads of Jervis Bay, as the head start you are planning compared to a Sydney start.
      Fair enough? That's called in Australia " a fair go".
