The concept of frequency makes sense to me. It also makes sense that you could show that in graph form, as well as table form. I am continually surprised by how much Excel can actually do. It can probably do things I've been trying to do by hand or by some confusing method, when actually, there is probably some sort of function to do it. This is a neat video and is a good step-by-step tutorial on how to do this.

I feel like there are some statistical measures that are more important for counselors to know than others (although in a perfect world we would understand them all as well as Dr. Grande does) but I feel like this is one of them. Not only is it important to understand what each score indicates, but it is also helpful to know how often each score occurs in a patient population. For example, what if you were looking at the frequency of different scores on a suicide/depression inventory given after an experimental treatment.

This was a really insightful video. I vaguely remember bins so it was great to get a refresher and they're surprisingly simple as they are just a set of number that include the scores in a data set. The most helpful part of this, surprisingly, the the piece on making the frequency graph. I make, every now and again, graphs at work and usually start in Word and take my data from one place and type in into the excel box that comes up but this would be so much easier. I can have all the data in an excel spreadsheet and highlight it to put it into the graph. It's so hard to remember everything excel can do, especially when you don't use it frequently so I just keep learning from these videos.

This video was informative for me. I had never known that you could calculate the frequency of a data set in this manner. As I was watching, I was wondering why you would use a frequency that had intervals instead of individually, however, then I saw that some numbers did not have any occurrences. However, I am glad that the individual set was shown because then you could tell where the numbers actually were placed. I also liked watching the formation of the histogram and how to input the data set. That will be helpful to me in the future instead of manually inserting each number into the graph, I now know how to put an entire set in.

I understand the usefulness of this function because it lets Excel do all the legwork in sorting the frequency of each value, but I fail to understand why would would not make the bins as detailed as possible. I don't know if it was Dr. Grande simply showing that it was a possibility to show the frequency "up to" a certian value, or it that would be useful somewhere. I would rather know how often each value occurs rather than saying that "a value of up to 84 happened X many times".
