    Having one of these tanks installed on my truck as we speak! Can't wait to pick it up in the morning, recalculate with forscan and enjoy the extended range. My last truck i installed a 68 gallon in bed push button transfer tank. It was nice holding the button for 2 minutes and my truck would go from E to full. Fillups once every 3-4 weeks. Had that luxury for 5 years. Now with this truck and the 34 gallon tank, it drives me nuts I have to stop once a week for a fillup, and when pulling the camper alot more frequent. Last year pulling out to Mass. we had a issue with lack of fuel range. We passed the last major pulloff fuel station without stopping, like an idiot. I had such a issue finding a gas station that i would be able to get myself into and out of. I was down to 15 miles to E before i finally found a station. To say the girlfriend was freaking out was an understatement HAHA.

    • @EpicCowlick
      @EpicCowlick  4 года назад

      Lol! We've all been there. Praying for a fuel station when you're running on fumes. This tank really solves that problem. It's expensive but pays for itself pretty fast.

    Well finally pulled the trigger and installed it today. My tank varied from yours a little the breather hoses are longer and actually get zip tied to the filler hose. It really is as easy/hard as it looks. That's pretty subjective I guess. Worst part for me was squeezing the fuel and vent hoses back on the fuel filler neck assy. And even that was no biggie after spraying a little grease on the neck. 2-3 hour job if you're not filming... ;)

    Did mine today on my 2019 F350 with the B&W GooseBall. What a job. I had a little to much fuel in it. Should of driven some more before starting. It took me way longer to accomplish and I feel I’m pretty competent. The filler hose took awhile to disconnect and also the fuel line with the yellow connector. That thing was almost impossible to separate. Took a little finessing on the front U bolts to slide over the right side 90* bend to the inside. I should of studied the directions a little more on the rectangular spacers on where they went. I didn’t feel like it was up far enough for the skid plate to fit at first so I lowered it back down thinking the vent tube was wedged up in there somehow. Realized it couldn’t go up anymore I rerouted the vent hose along the top of the crossmember. Seems to be fine like that. I used the strap method like you along with an adjustable motorcycle stand which was the perfect height. Can’t wait to fill it up at $5.00 a gallon. LGB 🤣

I've done this three times now and prefer having the fuel filler neck assy rigid and not flopping around.

    I just put my tank in today on my 2020 F350. Thanks for the video. It helped me out with mine. I did it myself and using the straps like you did made the job easy for one person. Took me about six hours laying on the ground in the yard. Had a little trouble with the fuel filter screw and one of the fuel line clips too. Why can't they just use the same clip on all of them? Mine had three different kinds of clips! 😆
    Seems as though I'm only able to get 55 gallons in the tank when I went to fill it up.
    What's your experience with filling it?

      Great job on the installation, it's really not that big of a deal. Interesting about that filter screw. I helped a buddy and we ran into the same thing. Ended up just putting a longer screw in. As to the volume, I definitely get a full 60 gallons in there. I recently ran it down to empty and was able to put in 57 gallons. Too close for comfort. You'll love the capacity on the long haul trips.

      These trucks are definitely taller than the previous model, and those seemed tall. My fifth wheel fits great but the axles are flipped on it giving the trailer about 4 inches of extra height. I'm still using a B&W companion using the Ford fifth wheel prep sockets in the bed.

    Just recently upgraded to a 68 gallon fuel tank on my 2021 F450 at the Ford dealer. Before I got home after the install I heard a whining noise and a fuel pressure low alert message pop up. Obviously it turned out to be a bad fuel pump….had a new one installed…mind you only have 9k miles on truck. 2 days later hauling a 5th wheel across country got same noise and loss of power. This tank comes with 1 inch spacers for the brackets so that's pretty certain. When I measured 3/4 inches it was before it had it's first full tank. The weight of the full tank helps it sit down into the brackets and yields the full one inch drop.

      I wish I had taken the measurement on video and removed all doubt. It's easy to think through though. S&B provides a 1 inch spacer and reuses the factory straps. Therefore, the actual position of the strap cannot be more than 1 inch lower than factory. The quarter inch difference is probably due to the new tank still having a concave shape on the bottom. Over time it rounds out with the weight of the fuel and ends up the same shape as OEM.
