With many other vloggers all covering the same routes and services you deserve a lot of credit for coming up with less well known, and interesting subjects. Its a pleasant change to watch a video which rather than focusing on how many canapes you get in business class instead convey the cold, nearly empty, fluorescent lit ferry in the dead of night.
Travelling by bus is probably the cheapest option and you get a meal voucher. As you say, doing the journey by day makes it part of the adventure where you can take in the views
I was travelling back and forth between Paris and London and Antwerp and London for only £8 each way back in 2019, that's the only reason I found it worthwhile. The cost has increased by about 10x recently and unless they go back down I'll be flying into Europe from now on, although I still find them great for travelling around the mainland.
For your information. The ferries are all ex sea France. The food on them was always terrible. And the security at calais is necessary because of the clandestine passenger trying to get to the UK. Not only does the passengers get checked but the coach does too. They basically put a sniffer dog around the coach trained on human smells and check the interior of the coach including the toilet. For some reason dfds are always slower than p&o even though one of the ships used to be the fastest on the route.
I did this trip and many trips to Antwerp and Bruges from London in 2019 and it cost me between £8 and £14 each way but looking at the app now its between £30-£100 so much better to fly unless they put the prices back down imo
Hey Scott.. If you think that bus depot is bad, its pretty obvious you've never ridden a bus in the USA. Some of our bus depots make that one look absolutely gorgeous...
I’m an American guy who is new to your channel, Scott and I truly enjoy your videos. Your relaxed style and way of handling some rather annoying situations is a gift. Just made the London-Paris journey with the family but we took Eurostar and it was tough enough with 2 kids in tow. Can’t imagine how brutal this would have been! And it’s also good to know what a dump that bus station is, for the next time we’re in Paris. Will avoid. Keep up the great work, and I’ll eagerly await seeing your next adventure.
Looks like an utter nightmare! The things you do so we don't have to! I'd have spent the entire journey wishing I'd taken the Eurostar - under 3 hours end to end in comfort - no matter how much it cost!!
2:04 driver asks passenger if he already labeled his suitcase and gives him a label and pen requiring only the first name to be written on the label. That already tells much about the organisation of these coaches.
Cost please. Was there a toilet on the bus. Did it arrive on time. Do you have to wait outside in the rain at the terminal for the bus like you did? Thanks
The downside of taking the ferry is you miss it and have to wait for another. It can often be some time. I have taken the bus from London to Düsseldorf 4 times with the ferry. 3 times we was delayed and missed the ferry and I lost my connection from Düsseldorf.
It looks pretty vile, thanks for the warts and all review. Correct, it may be a lot more pleasant during the day, I still think buses are the worst way of getting around though. Work hard at school kids, otherwise you may find yourself getting around in a bus when you grow up!😯
Just as I was thinking 'that looks better than London Victoria Coach Station' you tell me the place is disgusting! I used to use the coach/hovercraft/coach service to Paris a fair bit as a student in the 70s. We didn't go into a coach station back then - Hoverlloyd used to drop us off at the front of the Gare du Nord/Gare de l'Est (Quai d'Orsay later on also?). East Kent Road Car Co. coaches didn't actually board the hovercraft (though coaches were able to) so you had to remove and place luggage between the two coaches and the hovercraft. Otherwise it was a nice trip, cheap too - depart Victoria at about 0930, Ramsgate Hoverport about 1230, a 40 minute crossing to Calais, then boarding a French coach (with a coffee stop before joining the autoroute after Arras) arriving in Paris at about 1800.

I've often considered booking with Flixbus to get back to the UK. Well, I did once when I was in Prague. I was worried in case my Easyjet flight would be cancelled, and booked a ticket as a back up. As it happened I didn't need it. I'll bear them in mind for the future though. I didn't know they went on the ferry. I thought they always went through the Chunnel. I liked the meal voucher!

Bus journey times really don't imorove with flixbus ! 25 years ago i went by Eurolines from the dutch border to copenhagen , in 8 hours ! Nowadays, with flixbus it takes 11-12-13 hours ! ( Albeit at higher frequency..) This journey.of 470km should be doable in 7-8 hours , rather than 10 you'd say...
Great vid and no surprise the Paris Bus station is not great. Though on a much smaller scale Manchester Chorlton Street Coach Station used to be dreadful till it was rebuilt about 18 years ago. Unless you are on a long ferry trip the food is appalling on most ferries. Their Amsterdam to Newcastle offering is much better.
I think when people watch vlogs like this, they also want to know about the state of the coach, how comfortable it was, what amenities there were on the coach etc. What times were available for picking up the coach in Paris, what the best times might be. Generally all information about the travel experience. You don't really give much information about anything. It would be great if you did this and then you might get more subscribers.
Leave my man alone, he’s just living his life and taking the time to film it for your viewing benefit. Don’t pretend like you cannot easily find this information with a quick google search…
Would love to travel between the UK and Malta via long distance coaches, so long as Flixbus reopens the interflix tickets. And P&O Ferries was now trying to get agency workers from here in Malta with a Brexit loophole and that Maltese agency's staff is paid like €3.50/hour or something like that
Flixbus and it's predecessor Eurolines are/were always a lot cheaper than Eurostar, even if you book the day before . Eurostars turn up and go fares are just crazy. Saying that the prices have certainly increased for the bus. Monday (tomorrow is showing fully booked on all but one service whereas a trip on Tuesday can be had for £55 or so. That's about double what I paid before Covid.
Wow the whole thing looks like the layers of hell. Edit to add: I used to live in Paris, that place is probably up there with the norm for hygiene in 'le shitte de lumiere'
Flix bus is introducing a new service between Manchester and Paris in the next month via Birmingham Cambridge London Greenwich and avoiding london victoria think it’s going to be ran by whippets coaches as it’s stopping in Cambridge and that’s where their depot is also they brought 2 new coaches witch I’m guessing is for the route
You noticed the restrooms' terrible condition, which I feel is due to those who use them. Unfortunately, some people come from countries where cleanliness is not valued and bring that culture to Europe.

DFDS have offered an all-inclusive meal voucher since the start of the pandemic. It's a very good and competitive touch to their product.
