Take your time. Schools are very very important. Not to be a downer but look at the makeup of the neighborhood. Check and triple check the crime in the neighborhood. Pay close attention to the domestic crimes 👮🏻👮🏻♂️. Also look 👀 into the healthcare system 🏥👩🏻⚕️👨🏻⚕️🤕. Does it have a level one trauma center. You don’t want to move and then feel like a prisoner in your own home 🏡.
I would look into magnet schools! I went to one in Vegas. Still a public school but more career driven and college prep. And doesn't matter where you live bc they don't have zone variances. Also note on the schools. Since they're all fairly new, they all look the same and have the same layout, so it's hard to tell from the outside, if it's a good school or not. With a few exceptions, it's mainly based on the area. Nice neighborhood = good school.
I grew up and still live in the hood (Northeast Las Vegas). What was great was that I was zoned for one of the worst high schools, but I chose to apply and got accepted to one of the magnet schools. This jump started my career. Yes, we have horrible schools, but we also have options. I love Vegas. We are so spoiled here … in a good way.
I get moving out to Vegas for the big beautiful house but other than that I absolutely hated living in Vegas compared to CA. 1. I think the school systems in Nevada are terrible! They are ranked the worst in the nation like 49th out of 50 states…There aren’t enough teachers to students nor established schools to new developments. They blame bad funding but Nevada year after year take no accountability to there students doing poorly. 25% of Nevada high school students passed math on a standardized state test. That’s absurd. To clarify I do not believe state standardized tests measure your intellectual capabilities but I do believe that they test the basics that you need for college and again it’s absurd that Nevada can’t get it together for their students. You guys will have to look into private schools for your kids. Magnet schools also do not cut it in my book. I can go on and on about the school system in Vegas… 🤦🏻♀️ 2. Weather. OMG Summers are unbearable. It’s basically hot atleast half the year. LA can get hot but not Vegas hot haha 3.Many believe that Vegas food is very diverse but I do not think it’s true. Yeah you have all cuisines but it’s nothing like LA where you can drive to the 626 and get authentic Asian cuisines or Ktown for legit Korean bbq. Not the same in Vegas I’m sorry. Xoxo a loyal viewer just trying to look out for you guys if you really do move down to Vegas. Things to really research about before moving or picking an area to live in Vegas.
Public school system are not that great where ever you go, I would just look into Private schooling personally. But the weather is a wash IMO, only difference in my experience is at night. Vegas is stupid hot at night in the summer but it's actually kind of cold during the winter, but still not that drastically different from LA. LA had the best food scene in the country pre-covid, now it seems like half the places are shut down and didn't make it due to restrictions. Money, Traffic and homeless are personally the main reasons I would move out of LA again, there's a big cost savings across the board and half of LA smells so bad sometimes lol.
Actually, Arizona is ranked 49th. NV is ranked 39. But it really depends on where you go. I live in a really nice area of Arizona and the public schools here are good.
@@lifewithstaph I’m sure there are outliers and I’m sure there are good schools in Vegas but to not be blinded by the reality that many schools in Vegas are not doing what students need to progress into college. And yes let me clarify that I read the national report for 2021 on the nation’s largest metropolitan cities and Las Vegas was second to last (last being Honolulu).
So fun to see you guys together without the kids, not that there's something wrong with having kids around.(I have 1myself😁) but its definitly refreshing to see you two happy & just enjoying normal life.

That second or third house was cozy and still seemed luxurious to me. From what I've heard yes please get the heck out of California for safety and financial stability. Thank you for taking us along looking at houses. It's always fun to see.
that third one is go to im not gonna cap. good mixture of luxury, nice family home, big as well, and better education system. all signs for me is that one
Its so hard to base schools off of ratings. Normally Id recommend seeing if you could tour the schools and bring questions and talk to staff and just walk the halls to see if you are able to observe teacher and student interactions without interrupting the class.
Orange County, CA is pretty great. Only downside is that the homes are somewhat expensive but compared to LA homes, they aren’t lol. Also, it’s pretty safe out here, schools aren’t bad either, especially in places like Orange, Orange County, CA(Always have to emphasize the difference that there is a city called Orange in Orange County lol)(Anaheim Hills, CA),(North Tustin, CA),(Irvine, CA)(Schools in Irvine have a high rating, from what I’ve seen). And many more places in OC
I've lived in Vegas majority of my life. The house market isn't horribly bad. But school wise, yes charter private schools are the best but not all private ones are the best. There are a few public schools that are really good.
Ant, from one fellow sneakerhead to another you should show what the KOTD are in your vlogs and also incorporate some sneaker content. I see that you guys also added shots of your Jordan and Kobe's in the intro. Would be nice to see what you've got and what Christina and the kids also rock.
We moved to an area because of the school district, the rating we oddly low however with that being said, it’s one of the best in our state. Then after some years, my daughter attends the number 1 high school in Michigan. So even if the school ratings seem low, don’t believe the numbers. ✌️
Yeah CA is bad, so many restrictions that don't make sense and the cost of living is so expensive and every year it just seems like it gets worse and nothing ever gets fixed for how high the taxes and fees are.
I've always correlated Vegas as Vacay and or retirement living but not to raise a family. Those homes are luxury but they don't look like home. But I'm sure whatever decision you both make will be the best for your family.
I wouldn't recommend moving to Las Vegas they been in a 20-year severe drought and getting worst every year. I have family that just moved out of Vegas to Houston, Tx because of water and the extreme heat.
Vegas homes are nice and big but I heard the schools aren’t that great. Plus most of the sought after colleges are in California. I’d rather pay in state tuition than out of state tuition
Check out southern highland, southwest, cactus area and mountains edge area. Southwest offers lots of great food especially Asian food. Southern highland/cactus area have lots of new homes and getting more developed. Mountains edge might feel a bit More crowded compare to summerlin but it’s has easy access to many places. I sent Ant a PM with the same info! A lot more Asians migrated from Spring Valley/Summerlin to Mountains Edge/Southern Highlands/Rainbow area over the last 10ish years (myself included). Those areas are where the action is at! 🙂
Check out charter school in LAs vegas it’s like private school minus the prices. It’s free and they teach a grade ahead. I’d check out all legacy traditional school (kindergarten to junior highs 8th grade) then you have coral academy which is a stem school also free and some locations have from kindergarten up til High school so she’ll grow within the school
I love California too, but 5 yrs ago my husband and I decided that our lives would be better living out of California. So we moved to Louisiana and our life is better, but I do miss California. I grew up there, I have family members there and friends. So Cali will always have a spot in our hearts, but we won't be moving back because of the cost of living and all the rules. Also people are so much friendlier were we are.
Honestly, Palmdale is not too far, still within L.A. county and you get a lot more house for your dollar without being too "far removed" BUT if your goal is to leave L.A. period, Vegas would be cool. Utah too since you have family there. Once you leave CA, in my opinion, everywhere else is the same.
I think while you can and the kids are still young…make the move…change of scenary and spacious home for living and hosting But down the road once they are older and moved out to college and such…i would move back to cali….its just got everything there and novelty of vegas will wear off From someone who had left hometown for something new exciting i definitely had my fun and then moved back to home base city But you are lucky you have options to travel to wonderful places around
Good job Ant and Christina. We were thinking the same situation as you wanting to move to vegas, but was also thinking for the kids school. Yeah LA right now economy is not so great, everything is so expensive but school is important for the kids.

Also Private school is nice, but you could always do Public School and combine private tutoring or distance learning as an alternative and who knows maybe with everyone leaving California, 8 years from now the schools might improve 😊
You do not need to send your kids to private schools in Vegas to have a good education. Look into charter schools like Doral Academy and Somerset Academy and then magnet public schools when the kids get to high school. I grew up in SoCal, but moved to Las Vegas just before high schools Me and my sisters were Las Vegas magnet school kids and my children now go to charter school in Vegas and love it. 🙂

Once I had my first kid I moved out to the IE (new development in Eastvale) my oldest is 22 & youngest 16, none have a clue what it is like to hear gunshots like i did growling up. I rather raise my kids out here, than in the SGV as much as I still like many of the eateries and stores out there, I knew the further from LA was best and not to mention cheaper for more house. I make the drive out there still once in a while when I need some good food 😂
NorCal is way more chill than SoCal. Why not explore NorCal?
Write or call and complain to the head state people of California and tell them about the crappy issues of California that should be fixed.
