    He was just being honest. I see nothing embarrassing about it. Would you prefer he didn’t speak honestly about how he felt and gave canned responses? He said the defensive system didn’t help him but it’s still on him to adjust.

    Panthers fan and This is a complete reach. He said his honest opinions, and can you blame him for his feelings? The man was with us through the dark days and relocation rumors just to see them ship him off and win it all without him. Do we win the cup without the trade happening? Unlikely, but the man is and always will be a legend in south Florida.

    Too bad what happened, but just to play devils advocate here, you can bet that Treliving buttered JH up with talk of still aiming to build a wnnining team, to get him to sign with the Flames, as would any other GM given the season he had with Florida. Now hes in a rebuild, nearing the twilight of his productive years, with nowhere to go because of his contract.

    As a long time Panthers fan, I have been saying this for a while now - That 115 point season Huby had was a one-off. He has always been around 70-80 point player. Plus he was benefitting from playing with Sam Bennett in the Quenville system. He has always been a flashy player who cares more about the personal numbers and living the lavish lifestyle than sacrificing for the team. He posted a comment on social media after the Panthers had just gotten swept by Tampa Bay in the second round during their President's Trophy season, saying "Happy to be home" - THAT did not go over well with fans, nor new GM Bill Zito... he should have said "This sucks, I wish i was still playing for the Cup".... after that comment he made, all us fans were screaming to trade him... he's just too soft.

    ANAMOLY: Despite HUBERDEAU'S '21-'22 season production in FLA (115 points in 80 games = 1.44 ppg), in the '22 playoffs his numbers were a modest 5 points in 10 playoff games. The Panthers understood that those '21-'22 Regular Season numbers were an ANOMALY for HUBERDEAU. His career numbers (not including his '21-'22 production) are a respectable (but unspectacular) 0.80 ppg (regular season). When the Flames acquired HUBERDEAU he was an (immediately) impending UFA - HUBERDEAU and his agent took advantage of the situation. Combined with the uncompensated loss of Johnny Gaudreau, Calgary had put themselves into a bad trade situation and an even worse contract situation - maybe a large reason as to why Brad Treliving is no longer GM in Calgary

  • @Megaerajorma
    @Megaerajorma 22 дня назад

    I can still see huberdau getting back to 80p range if flames can give him better role and linemates. But over 100 point days are gone. Contract is what it is and best idea what i can come up with is trade with Utah or chicago: huber (30% retained) - crouse/reichel etc straight hockey trade. And yet i feel like calgary would need to add picks here just so someone would be willing to take his salary. But i can also see if traded to chicago that being in same line with bedard could uplift his game back to point per game.

    Can't fault him for the contract the team offered him. His play? Sure.
    The man is just just being honest about his feelings. He is staring at the sand leaving the top of the glass in his NHL career and sees the surrounding talent disappear around him.
    He's a good guy and fans just don't have sympathy. Hopefully the flames get some decent young talent for him. Ironically from the flames perspective his best points totals were playing with Sam Bennett as his center.

    I agree with everyone here; Huberdeau is just being honest. With that being said, he's got two options. Either stay with the Flames and adjust to a more defensive scheme, or if he knows he can't then ask for a trade. Of course, the Flames will have to eat some of his contract, probably 3-5 mil, to make him tradable.

    • @kevinr.5558

      Not a chance Flames eat that much for 7 more years. We have the most cap space in the league with his albatross contract & its not like we need it for awhile. His options are more, 1/ play a ledership role & pick up your game or he can go the Zadina route & mutually terminate the contract so he can go be a free agent & sign & play where ever he wants.
