  • Looking at buying the KitchenAid KPRA 3 Piece Pasta Roller & Cutter Attachment Set? in this video i'll share a few of the pros and cons that i've experienced plus a few of my tips for making fresh pasta a success!😛

    I love making my own pasta. I love that feeling of accomplishment after perfecting the right consistency and getting unique tasty flavors you can't get anywhere else but at home. How about you?
    ☝Well, if you’re a pasta lover, perhaps now's the time for you to learn and start making your own pasta!
    With the help of this kitchenaid pasta roller and cutter set, you can easily customize the taste and thickness according to your own palate. And, fresh pasta tastes way better than what you can find at the store.
    why? because you can use fresh grains, vegetables and herbs to make it! priceless!
    The KitchenAid KPRA Pasta Roller and Cutter for Spaghetti and Fettuccine is a kitchen tool that simplifies the pasta making process. yes, you can do it by hand or use a manual pasta press/cutter but why do that when you have electricity?
    As with all kitchen aid attachments, this pasta roller and cutter set can fit with any KitchenAid stand Mixer with the little front port.
    this KPRA pasta attachment set is well made. it's mostly, metal and pasta roller and pasta cutters are made of stainless steel. So it'll be rust-free and cut easily and cleanly.
    the only thing i don't like about it is the plastic that i mentioned in the video, but doesn't seem to be much of a big deal so far after the years i've had and used it..
    so - if you're the type of home cook who likes to be hands on, and do it yourself, maybe this is something you'd enjoy using. 😛
    🤔 do you think you'll give fresh pasta a try with this kitchenaid attachment set? why or why not? lmk in the comments!

    Great review! I have the same KPRA pasta attachments for years and had similar view about them. But recent event completely changed that. It all started when I found my pasta sheet was contaminated with black substances by roller attachment. I disassembled entire roller attachment for a complete cleanup. However, I don't suggest you do it by yourself. The attachment is not designed to be serviceable. It took a lot of adjustments to make the roller running smoothly. The black substance came from the roller used to adjust the thickness. The steel adjustment shaft runs through the entire length of the roller, which look like made by Aluminum. The friction between static adjustment shaft and rotating roller produced a lot of black substance, I guess that is metal powder. Mechanically, this roller attachment is very poorly designed, as there is no separation between food processing area and mechanical power transmission. I found that discolored pasta dough crumbles are all over the places, inside the roller attachment, and cannot be shaken out over the years. It is not surprised that the black substance also leaked out to my pasta sheets. Another example is that the end cap of roller attachment is fixed by three self-taping screws. It won't last long if you keep dissembling the attachments. The attachment is very pretty, but I don't think it is made solidly, nor will it last long for heavy use. I am always suspicious why KitchenAid is so particular about immersing the attachment into the water, now I think I know the answer.

      Hi there! Thanks for sending this experience you had with KPRA pasta attachments. I guess you won't know the things you mentioned if you haven't used your pasta roller for a long time. I will definitely keep this in mind when I'm using my pasta roller.

      I haven’t tried actually, but you mentioned the possibility of making soba noodles in your vid and I’d love to give it a go.
      I have experimented with pasta, but I can’t help but feel that soba noodles are next level and something I wouldn’t just try without getting some tips from someone who obviously knows their stuff, like you.

    Hello! A lot of times, when using the spaghetti cutters, the strands come out with two stuck together. I can pull them apart before drying, but that is a pain. Do you ave any hints/suggestions on what I should do to prevent this???

    • @alldayieatlikeashark
      @alldayieatlikeashark  4 года назад +2

      Hi Darren, you can prevent it by coating your pasta dough with corn or rice flour immediately after cutting. Don't use regular flour as it may have a different result. I hope this will help you. how many time in a week do you make your own pasta?
