I had been manifesting this video for the last 2 weeks. Thanks for covering!
I wish Puma would make their MG boots more widely available. So hard to get in North America. Best AG plate out there, no question.
DEo you think AG is any better on AG than standard Turf shoes? I don't find it slippy. Maybe under the sole its better to have studs?
@@robertfitzpatrick2198 I don’t think it’s better in terms of traction. It more comes down to whether you want to feel like you’re wearing boots or a sneaker
Dude i ordered from unisport UK bruh it was tough getting it in north america amazing boot tho i feel, i was thinking on getting phatnom Gx 2 AG but this seems more safer and just more cool for wide feet, UK 9.5
Love these AG boot videos. Great to learn about the stud patterns. I'd love to watch a follow up video for how durable these boots actually are. I only play on AG pitches and am trying to find the most durable boots where the soles aren't coming away after a few games. Cheers 👍
First of all, thank you for the wonderfully prepared and clear overview. I love your videos. I coach a few children's and youth teams myself, so the topic of football boots and the different styles is always an issue for us. Especially after the winter, when we get out of the hall and onto the pitch. For adults, we always recommend buying at least two pairs of shoes, as we often switch between artificial turf (or grass) and natural grass. For children, we tend to recommend MG shoes. Would you agree with that?
Speaking of clarity. I find the dozens of different types of shoes totally confusing and not in the interests of the customer. It's great for you because you can present more to us and we're happy to listen to you, but sometimes I long for the times around the turn of the millennium when the selection of shoes was simpler and clearer. Adidas in particular, which I personally have always liked in terms of fit and style, give me the impression that they don't really know where they want to go with AG shoes. I have the impression that style is being prioritised over functionality.
Great list! Very useful since it seems everyone needs AG these days. Is there any chance you can confirm that the sizing on these boots is the same as the FG version? In particular, is the Furon V7+ AG the same as the FG? I wear the FGs a 1/2 size up…
Great video Jay! Just wondering which of these boots are good for wide feet?
Hey Jay, I think we see a lot of request for wide forefoot boots comparison, may be you need to find someone with that configuration. I also have a wide forefoot and New Balance is the most comfy found so far but not happy with control
Awesome video ❤ can you do one on a solo training session?
my current favorite are the Asics DS light AG.
not only to they have great studs for AG, but they also have a bit of cushioning under the heel that really makes a big difference in harder / older AG pitches.
next best thing is probably somewhere between the puma MGs and UnoZeros. the Mizuno are also solid, but studs are a bit too long for me
I'm in Japan...do HG studs like on Nike's work on AG too? They are short and conical.
@@_cru8368 short and conical should help prevent horrible injuries due to your foot getting stuck, but AG specific soles will typically also have extra even smaller studs to help distribute the pressure when your foot strikes the ground. keep in mind that AG may have rubber or cork, but over time that will wear out and you'll start playing closer and closer to what's under the green turf layer and that's probably going to be some combination of extremely hard materials like gravel and concrete. your ankles and knees will thank you for minimizing stud pressure. maybe not the first day, but over the years you'll feel it
Thanks a lot for the video! I bought the Phantom GX2 ag. The boots are perfect and the feeling is wonderful. Perfect for my wide feets.
Hey Jay, do you prefer the Phantom GX (lowtop) or Luna (hightop) ?
Dude make a turf boot tier list, that's what we need
ag is turf
@@crimnvL turf is turf
Ag is ag
Research it before commenting
Turf its for futbol sala right? And for play in concrect in it
@@IAmCopland turf is more like a grass carpet on a concrete base
Ag fields have a lot more depth and are softer + the grass even though it is artificial it is completely different from turf
Dropping it in a few weeks, I've started testing! /Jay
I've been using the Copa Pure AG boots, but I ground off the edges of each stud making them rounder. I know this is a bit brutal and not everyone's thing, but it makes a good boot a really good boot. By the way, these video's are brilliant, Jay. Thank you.
You mean the 2g/3g boots?
@@woutvanderlinden9434No, the original stud pattern for AG.
Please make a vid covering natural grass boots, or best if you are playing on both natural and artificial grass since thats the case for a lot of footballers in europe. Thank you :)
Hi, do you have any recommandations for hard ground? during the summer, on public pitches, many ground are tough to play with FG. Thanks.
AG/MG boots definitely worth the investment. Save your knees, ankles and match boots from getting ruined
Does mg big studs work at ag or only small studs mg work on ag?
@@abbasayad3253 Apologies MG is a bit ambiguous because some brands MG boots (like Mizuno) are smallish SG studs so they can in theory be used on FG too whereas Puma use MG to describe their AG boots. As a general rule of thumb you can get away with using FG studs on AG if they're conical/ non aggressive. I actually use my Mizuno Alphas on AG loads and I've had no issues injury-wise (yet). I would avoid however using any stud/ boot pattern designed for SG on AG as the added traction will likely put you at risk. So to answer your question i'd imagine your big MG studs probably wont be suitable.
@@Lezgrey so if i use an fg/ag boot on ag should it be okay
@@abbasayad3253 yeah for sure
This great but can you do a kids version of bang for buck and mixed grounds as kids boots and soles plate are terrible to find a good all rounder.
Would love to see the Adidas Crazyfast HG/AG boots that are sold in Japan, South Korea, etc. included in this list. They are a great and safe boot for AG surfaces and I have no idea why Adidas isn't selling them in US, UK and EU markets.
Some days I use Adidas Freak+ TF on some easy games, but current go to is Adidas Accuracy .1 TF. Reason go with TF model is Adidas did not make any actual AG until newest model w 2G/3G & 4G. My feet doesn't fit current Nike and I want laceless model, so seeing Tekela V4 came laceless AG model I'm very interested.
The best expirience on artificial grass I've had with Adidas Predator with Traxion HG sole plate, which was something between AG and TF, because they were boots with AG sole plate, but also had a layer of foam, so they were soft with very good traction
Yo jay mike, are first copy football boots good? It'll be great if you make a video showcasing the difference between the real ones.
I use Puma Future AG and Mizuno Morelia neo AG.
Both work quite good on natural grass too attleast on dry weather.
do you go true to size in both or do you go half size down ?
I hope that you can do a version for turf boots in the future
Only have shoes from the 2013-2016 era where there were big differences between FG/AG variants of boots and where AG soles seem to have just started to come out. So I always used pitch specific boots. Not only for the minimise in risk of injury but also durability of shoes. The FG variants uppers and glue of the soles were not designed to take the beating of AG pitches. Some examples were that on tiempo legend boots. Unlike the FG variant, the AG variant had a small extra layer of suede where the upper met the soles.
Mizuno Neo is very good as well,it is very light with some protection and very good in changing direction
New York City has a ton of turf fields and I’m tired of using the firm ground cleats, they’re so hard on the feet. I have turfs but sometimes I feel as though they lack traction. Looking to invest in a good pair of AGs or MGs to see if it can solve for both my problems!
Thoughts on some of the best takedown models for ag?
Would you say the new puma mg plate is better than the one used on the previous future
is Mizuno Morelia FG good for those artificial grass with black rubber dots? im aware that Mizuno FG is relatively short and very round and thick (kinda similar to copa mundial), also would you recommend copa Mundial on 3G pitches ?
I've been using Adidas Predator Accuracy+ AG for my artificial grass games and sometimes Mercurials but they're a little too tight. For FG games I was using Copa Pure, but after I decided to give Mizuno Alpha Elites a try I was immediately hooked. About to order the AG version to retire my Predators.
Are they durable?
@@clarityfnm3125 Definitely. I use the same Alpha Elite model but in FG, AG, and turf since I play on all three surfaces on different days and they've all held up great. Last night when I took off my AG boots i did notice some slight separation beginning on the toe but there's still plenty of life left. In the last 5 months I've used those the most - about 3 games per week on AG.
I have trouble finding AG boots in the US. When I am in Europe much easier to get. Especially Nike. I know some don’t believe it but I am firm believer of AG boots on artificial.
Thanks for this video, very important topic that still most people do not understand! Personally I would never wear FG on AG, currently using the Puma MG and my next boots I think will be the adidas 2G/3G as our pitch is really an older AG pitch. I'm really curious if Nike will bring out something like the Puma MG or Adidas 2g/3G, as they currently do not have anything that really compares to it, the Nike AG Pro stud plate is really only for high quality, new AG pitches
Yeah, I really want to buy the Addidas 2G/3G beceuse I think durability and feel on the ground is important. I feel like the studes un the nike options are just going to wear down too much and have a too agressive feel. I'm so afraid of buying though because he says "they feel nothing like the 4G option". I also think that he plays more compettetive and on 11v11 pitches that are high quality, I play on a 7v7 pitch that's not that high quality.
Bro even prefered the preditor TF(Turf) over the 2G/3G😳
@@winstongezelius9442 yea indeed sounds slightly concerning haha. I am really torn between the adidas 2g/3g and the puma MG tooling - i think both are good for shitty/old AG pitches
@@GSicKz I’ve heard many people saying the Puma MG boots are the best they ever had, do you agree? What’s your opinion on them since you use them right?
@@winstongezelius9442 Yes theyre very nice, you can use them on:
- older AG pitches
- new AG pitches
- hard natural grass pitches (when its dry and the ground is hard)
If i find a really good deal for some adidas 2g/3g I might buy them just to try it out, but otherwise I would go again with Puma MG I think, they are also a bit cheaper and just more versatile/suitable for more playing surfaces I think
Please make a video on how to lock ankle for pure power strike and curling technique
would the mizuno morelia 4 elite make a difference compared to the alpha version?
Hi JayMike, with your knowledge about Mizuno boots, why AG soleplate is not available in Japan? Only in US/Euro. Thanks for answering in advance.
Do you think the laces on the GX 2 affect using the outside of the boot to shoot or pass
I'm currently using Puma ultra as my foot are a little bit thin. Will the Puma future ultimate 7 MG be too wide for me? Thank you
Are alpha ag plate fit differently than FG? Do you think arch fit is like neo or Morelia 2?
I have Morelia pro ag. Feels awesome but the damn irritating rubber pellets keep getting inside. Thinking of gluing the front portion of the tongue to prevent any gap.
Is the sizing the same for the FG and AG 4g predators
What are your thoughts about the Diadora B elite tech fg?Thank you
I wanna make the purchase from Cambodia, as your fan, but I’m not sure that how can this delivery through dol or not
What would you pick for comofort between the Elite Tiempos and the Phantom gx2 elite?
Do you notice a difference in the feel and sizing between Future's FG/AG and MG soleplates? I think the shape and especially the higher edges of MG soleplate make for a bit different and a bit tighter experience.
I'd just love Puma to maintain the shape of the soleplate while keeping the studs length (and number of them)
I did. Been using Future Z 3.4 with FG studs (44 EU), I ordered white & red Ultra Match with MG studs (44,5 EU) and despite going half a size up, they are absolutely destroying my feet in the forefoot/toebox area just during the tryout, even with soleplate being just a tiny bit longer
As you pointed out, higher edges do play a role and I think that they somewhat limit the ability of upper to stretch during movement, and/or there is not enough material to compensate stiff edges that our toes push against
I loved the stud pattern, even on hard floor I wasn't able to make these boots cause any kind of individual stud pressure. Shame I have to return them due to so big differences in fit & feel
The latest generation Mercurial Elites AG-Pro outsole is susceptible to cracks. I read about those a bit online, decided to still go for it thinking it might be a few isolated cases, then after 2 training sessions a crack started to develop, had to send them back. It's a shame, because I really liked the Air Zoom sensation.
Could you make some recs for good takedown/budget friendly AG options? Recently got some alpha elites for FG. Don’t want to ruin them right away or blow the warranty, but also not made of money so keen to get a more affordable pair of AG’s as I play on both surfaces. Ideally something durable but not too chunky feeling 🤷♀️
Puma future pro mg is really good
Really useful.
I just bought AG, went for the Phantom as the fit was better for me than the legends whilst the Futures seemed to slip in the heel.
One thing I noticed in UK, I could not find Phantom Pros in AG, so went for Academy as the elites at £220 just seemed to high for occasional pitches.
However I notice the academy studs are different, more of them and look smaller than the pro and elite models.
What are your thoughts on the academy AG?
Actually I realise the academy soleplate seems to just be the legend 9 soleplate so looks a good option
Please review Predator Elite turf! 😊
I got the Puma Future Ultimate MGs just before Christmas and I've had to send them back because the outsole had already started coming away from the upper at the toe. Such a shame as apart from that I loved them. I'd be interested to hear of anyone else had this issue or if it was a one-off.
I am wearing them for over a year now and i play 5 times a week, so i think it was just unlucky.
I really love my Mizuno DNA, i know that it's an easy win, but i found them on sale and I'm very happy on ag and fg, coming from Morelia neo beta japan. I am now really concerned about my boots for next year, because I don't think I'm gonna be so lucky to find shoes of quality similar to DNA, and about the Alpha i am a bit concerned for my wide feet. Please give me an advise guys ❤
Make an indoor/futsal list as well please
I am still beyond annoyed why Adidas refuses to make more than one color for AG. Really want that blackout or pearl white one, but no AG option? and none of the AG options have a tongue?
just get older models of addidas TF - like Kaiser. Really TF works great on AG. Actually I think making distinction between AG and TF is just marketing. F boots are really better for your knees - more stable.
would love to see a video on boots for those who play on AG and FG and need one pair for both! Great video, keep up the good work!!
didn't he say the legend 10 and phantom for that?
Are the Adidas Copa Mundial, Adidas Copa Gloro and Mizuno Morelia IV beta elite good for AG?
Im midfilder and wingers puma future or Phantom GX?
Are the futures closest to using turf shoes coz that's currently what im doing on AG pitches. I can't imagine the stiffer sole plates being as comfy as Turf shoes.
hi love the vid but i was wondering if u can make a video for best AG boost for wide feet?
I have wide flat feet. Go for the Adidas 2g/3g
@@tn7328 Do you use them? Please tell me if you recomend because I get so scared to buy them when he says "feels nothing like the 4G option". Also i play on a 7v7 pitch with not that good quality wich makes durability a bit more important than other factors maybe. I feel like he's talking from a more compettitive point of view, playing on 11v11 pitches with high quality.
@@winstongezelius9442 I'd say try them on. I have very particular feet, and most shoes I find uncomfortable. The Adidas 2g/3g were great at the start, but as I've bought more boots I'm finding I don't really use them anymore. I don't like the feeling of the upper when I strike the ball, the boots are a lot heavier and a bit clunkier than others, so you won't really get that nimble feeling. There's more than enough traction in the wet. Personally I wouldn't buy them again. I'm currently rotating between a Morelia elite beta jpn and puma king pro TT.
Is it late to become a professional footballer in your early 30s such as 30 31 or 32 if you have the talent and style to play ?
please make a indoor football shoes, need that!
You guys should try Asics DS light . I swear they are better than my hypervenom elite .
wish i would’ve seen this video before pulling my hamstring on a turf field saturday 😭😂
Independently of the boot, which soleplate do you say it is better considering both traction and safety on different generations of AG pitches?
Always been weary about the hollowed out studs. I feel like something on the pitch will get stuck in them (rubber pullets, ag grass stems), and will cause the boot to get stuck, increasing potential for injury. Also, would definitely not wear them on real grass, since dirt, mud, grass, will probably get stuck in them and cause traction issues. There’s also the unpleasant task of trying to clean those things out after a match. Maybe I’m just being paranoid. If someone is out there with experience with hollowed out studs, please comment. I’d like to hear your perspective. TY.
I play solely on AG and jumped from FG to AG based on one of your previous videos. I had always been an Adidas loyalist but jumped ship to Nike based on their superior AG soleplate. I initially got tiempos but they rubbed around the laces and were super uncomfortable but gave Nike another shot and moved to Vapor Pros. I loved them so much I bought a second pair.
Unfortunately, I drag my toes and I go through boots pretty quickly when the soleplate starts to come away from the upper. I’m open to trying something new but nothing else I’ve founds seems to deliver in that ‘Pro’ level price range. Would love advice/suggestions if people have them.
Yeah that's my biggest problem with the soleplate getting wore down. Do you think the Addidas preditor elite 2G/3G is a solution to that, with much better durability?
i use tf boots on ag pitches. i find the presence of the midsole to make a huge difference to impact mitigation. neither fg nor ag boots have midsoles.
Is turf boots better?
The studs are very short so it’s safer and they work on ag as well
check out the Asics DS light Pro AG to get the best of both worlds
I've had Made in Japan's but I'm not paying £300 for AG boots. Mizuno Monarcida AG........ About £60 and are actually really good. They do a turf option for a similar price and they are also very good.
I’ve tried playing in Nike Mercurial Elite AG-PRO (the sole collapsed within two weeks), Nike Phantom GX Elite AG-PRO (too stiff), Adidas Copa Pure 1.0 FG (great, but the toe ripped). Currently, I’m wearing Puma Future Ultimate MG - the best boots I’ve ever worn. The next pair will be Mizuno Elite
Thanks for sharing, what version of the Puma´s?
PUMA Future Ultimate MG Supercharge - Blue Glimmer/PUMA White/Ultra Orange
I don’t see much difference between PUMA Future Ultimate MG Supercharge and PUMA Future Ultimate latest version
I love playing on this old school turf, when you get up from the "grass" with a face covered with that Russian black caviar on the face.
Still, I cannot see any difference in boots for AG and FG pitches. In South Korea, I played on the last-generation AG's, even chevron studs work extremely well, same feeling as on natural grass but very flat and even with much smaller risks of foot & knee injuries.
That MG plate on Puma looks incredible. Remind me of the AG plate Nike used to use even on the previous tiempo. That is the best plate. Now I just wish Puma would have a leather boot option with that soleplate and I'd buy it 100%. Also none of this fake leather bs...
Nike premier 3 fg are the best for Astro. Hard to get leather and ag but they are the best
Shout out to the old AG-R outsole on older Nike boots. Had that on my Magista Opus And it was fantastic.
I also have the Mizuno Alpha Elite AG and they have been great boots.
Yeah, I have the Nike Vapor 14 Elite AG, I’m glad I bought them because they look safer than the Vapor 15 Elite AG-PRO. The good thing is that Nike still offers the AG-R style soleplate on their Academy models.
About the Mizuno Alpha AG: I wonder how they compare to the FG version since on the FGs the soleplate is also part of the heel counter (external heel counter) but it’s not on the AG version. Can the difference be felt?
The puma king ultimate mg is absolutely wonderful feeling to my feet and knees
Can you do this for FG boots
Does the Mizuno alpha AG have the KaRVO technology?
Is the mizuno alpha elite ag good on grass because I plan on switching to another club and they play on grass while I play on artificial grass. So do u think I should get the fg or ag studpattern?
I would wear turf shoes on this type of surface, the cushioning is worth the trade off of slightly less traction
agree, actually I don't really see difference in traction. For most of us amateurs, this is no difference.
Can I put your product link in my video?
could i also use nike tiempo legend 9 elite instead of 10? because the 9 elite are cheaper
How is the neo morelia ag compared to the alpha?
So its safe use conical/round stud on AG piches?
Hey Unisport! Can you tell us which boots you would choose if you wanted the new predators but you woukd play on the 2g artificial grass? The turf version or the 2g/3g? Is one heavier/bulkier than the other? Or maybe both boots suck and you would go with something else? I was really hoping the 2g/3g is the answer because the turf outsole feels so much different than FG boots:/ I have puma future pro MG and they are great for AG outside high quality field we play on but for the indoor turf, my feet are overworked in those, as if there was not enough support or something...
Hey man, I'd personally go with the Predator Elite TF if I'm honest. I really dislike the fit and feel on the 2G/3G option, so while the stud shape and placement is better than the 4G AG version, I don't really like to wear the 2G/3G version. TF does have a bit extra bulk because of the midsole, but given the extra support you get, I'd live with that compromise and prefer that to the 2G/3G AG boot. /Jay

@@unisport Damn you really don't like the predator 2g/3g🤣
Nike Tiempo Legend 10 Pro or Puma Future 7 Pro?
I'm in Japan...do HG studs like on Nike's work on AG too? They are short and conical.
Does anyone know if there is any difference in the soleplate between the AG Mizuno Alpha Elites and MiJ?
I want to custom order from Nike on the app but I want to know if I should order true to size or should I order half a size up I’m size 10.5
In VietNam we have Tiempo 10 Tf, Phantom GX 1 tf, Nike Mercurial TF, and X Crazyfast in top 5
I can highly recommend the puma mg. Durability is good, the boot still wraps your foot well. I play on 3g .
how do you know what generation your pitch is?
What about the Mizuno Morelia Neo 3 Pro Ag?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Been wearing Puma Future MG for 2 years now. From the US and most games are on AG. How would the Alpha Japans perform on FG?
They're decent on FG, too - a bit more gentle, but definitely do the job. They're nowhere near as aggressive as the Alpha Japan FG, but it's a matter of taste. A softer FG pitch would probably challenge the traction bit though, especially in the forefoot. /Jay
Thank you, love the videos and the site!
Hey, how are they holding up if you dont mind? I have heard some things about bad durability so im iffy about buying some..
@@robbiej0116 Just moving out of them because of that and into the GX with the ag soleplate
@@chief7163 oh wow..thats the other pair im considering. Just concerned about the sizing now lol
What if i trim the fg boots?
I really fancy some predators but all the new AG pitches locally are being advised as 3G and i dont think i want super chunky boots so a little worried about the 4G version.
The 3g ones are quite bulky.
are fg/mg boots fine for 4g turf
@Unisport, what about FG/AG? Can it be used in Artificial ground?
AG means artificial ground
20 years of playing FG boot on AG for me , never had any injury problems
Youre lucky. Ive always risked it since i was young because i was used to playing with FG on AG. One wrong turn and your foot gets stuck like mine did. I got lucky and only sprined my MCL (out for 1 month) but you can sprain other crucial ligaments or even worse tear one of them.
Can you try soccer shoes from Indonesia?
Cool
What abou copas 2 AG ? In terms of safety. :)
Very displeased with the shipping of unisport. I order a week ago my new cleats and they haven’t even been picked up by fed ex. Seems like this happens a lot
I just got the tiempo 10 pro with the AG sole. Its a great boot. Excellent for wide feet. I wish i wouldve gone wiht black though. The yellow version is already black from the rubber pallets 😂😂😂
Do you use them on FG as well?
I mix Puma Future AG and Mizuno Morelia Neo IV Pro
