Whist your Foden was in Scotland I think it was used by specialist Recovery Team on the Scottish Rally Scene. Back in the day (2001) myself and my mate were competing in a Forest Rally near Dumfries and had a big "off", basically we crashed into the trees down a 1 in 3 hill and I thought the car was unrecoverable. After a long wait, the race finished and the recovery team turned up with your Foden, they had a bit of a chat and scatched their chins a few times, then sprang into action and winched the car back up the hill via a few Pullys attached to big trees. The Rally Car was a total wreck and they then used the crane to load it onto a trailer to get it out of the Forest. Despite feeling pissed off with crashing out of the event and wrecking the car, I can still remember being mightily impressed with the power of the Foden winching the wreck out of the Forest up that huge gradient.
I was unsure when I seen the black cab all those months ago...... but must admit being all black I think the Foden looks bloody amazing!...... ohhh and Ted at the end! So damn adorable!!
I remember the BARV was suppose to be a function over form project too. You can tell you actually care about the Foden as it seems to be one of your best purchases. It definitely earns it keep for you. As a merch idea I was thinking you could make a “Hewes Towing” shirt. One the front a simple “Hewes Towing”. On the back saying “it takes one” with the silhouette of the Foden above. Below it says “to tow one” with silhouette of a Centurion.
Don't short change yourselves. The knowledge and skills you and Jack have about these heavy machines are second to none. You post it, I'll watch it. AND BatDog too.
"You've just got to not look at the whole picture. When everything looks bad, you are just going to do one thing at once, even if the thing you're doing also looks bad..." Some hard-learned life wisdom there👍 Also, honestly, I have seen much worse welds done by a "professional" on - wait for it - gas piping at my house.
If seen far worse welding from so called "professionals" and if you look at any Japanese bike right upto the early 1980s the welding was shocking but it worked! As for the colour of the Foden I love it it looks menacing and moody which is spot on. Great job as always and thanks to TED for overseeing this stage of the proceedings!
LOL.... “Jiggery Pokery” is my new words of the week!!!! Foden looks great!!! Safety yellow for the outriggers? Nature’s warning colors, black & yellow. What do I know anyway. I’ve been told all of my taste is in my mouth. LOL BTW, mic and camera work is outstanding on this video. Content is stellar as always, and of course there is Ted & Jack. Thanks for the Sunday drop. A cup of coffee, my easy chair, and your Foden exploits made a great start of my day. Play safe, live lively. Thanks for all.
You guys are great. Your sense of humour seems more Australian than English. But then again, I've met some really great pommies with similar attitudes like yours over the years. You have that true English spirit that blessed the modern & old world., which has made life more bearable before the environmental & woke's invaded life.
so new mike. sorry i didn't know you had sound until now. i've been watching with cc all this time. looks nice like all your work. just kidding about the sound. it is a big improvement though/ have a nice day, and keep building. wish i could come a turn a wrench with you guys.
Could do the boom and outriggers in or with some hazard stripe yellow. But the tacticool black is looking good. Get a logo in the door and box covers maybe?
Looks fantastic in the black, one thing I will say is that hammerite wont stay white for long. We used to do rally cars in that collur underneath and under the bonnets but it always goes like a nicotine stained yellow after a few months.
As an Ex 24 years time served REME mech and Tiffy you have done her proud. Work Horse yes but a great rough and ready bit of kit used on public roads in UK to the tracks in Rwanda, x country in Bosnia and many other terrains. At one time it used to claim to have the highest cab in the trucking world get the BV on and have a brew
You boys would be lost with ted the workshop supervisor, u can tell he is used to seeing more shenanigans than required for any task by the way he just stands and looks around like "how are these hoomans still alive I will never know" haha keep at it lads.
Years ago car makers left their body shells out side to let the surface start to pit then primed them or in the Old Enamel coach paint days they painted straight onto the bare metal .my 1949 Austin A40 Devon is still in great condition and on most of its original paint .👍
Great to see the tools getting some love. My ex boss had a HGV training company and he would never look after the trucks (tools of his trade) he'd always wash them so much so they were rusting to death, but actually servicing them or doing preventative maint was not his strong point. He couldn't understand why it was costing thousands of pounds a month on various repairs of his crappy Renault's!
While a camo paint scheme was my personal preference, I must admit I really do like the "murdered" look. The hard-working Foden is deserving of you lavishing lots of attention and getting it mint. ✨ And for Ted: "Good boy, wotta good boy!!"
The 2 things I miss the most in my day job is the plasma cutter (sometimes I could have just used a cutting wheel but you know how it is) and the tig welder. 👌🏻
whatever you think of your weld and patchwork (I thought it was ok tbf).. you can grinder that weld down and cover that with a nice coat of paint - pro tips ;)
Nice to see the Foden getting some love , it's looking smart .. cheapo led strip lights for the lockers ?? strobes & high-vis / reflective tape for the legs ??
Nice job, just the right level to do the rough work without fear of scratching the paintwork. How are British electrical systems from the 80s? I myself grew up with Lucas, comment superfluous. A very nice channel with joy and love for what many see as unnecessary machines. Best regards from Sweden.
When I worked as a contractor for the U.S. Army and I didn't have a wheel jack to remove and install a wheel I used a 2 wheel hand truck to help do the job. Just slide the lower plate under the tire, lift and pull, the tire slides off on to the hand truck and to install do the opposite.
There are few things that don’t look good in black… a big heavy duty truck looks dam good in it😁. That’s good going to get her painted up👌👍. Wonder if yellow or red out riggers might look better than white 🤔🤷♂🤷♂
I think black will look good but definitely needs the ATeam red bits lol. Seriously tho that monster with a proper custom paint job would look pretty special.
You guys do a great job and Ted the top dog.. And I like Joe's style of presentation. Rather reminds me of Jeremy Clarksons ramblings and banter. Looks like you guys have more fun and following than Top Gear anyway. Jack would make a good Jockey. Just had to throw that in. I watch the show alot and I live Australia mate.
Well done Ted can't believe how much support you give the boys. Keep them at it because you have such high standards
“I am your Foden” 😂😂😂😂
Nooooo its impossible ! I will never tow you !
“Look, I am your wrecker”
Not convinced Ted ever gets enough credit for his supervision skills… 😍
Absoultely, the place would fall apart without him!
Ted has seen some stuff in that workshop im sure lol. The dog is absolutely fearless
I can’t believe the amount of work you guys do plus killing it on the videos! So many videos. You must never sleep!
I struggle sleeping
From the man who is building a 6x6 monster wrecker...
@MrHewes the workshop bose speaker setup is not your average fm radio 😅😊

Can we take a moment to appreciate that these are the hardest working guys in the UK.
That black looks sick!
Appreciate ya, from the US!
Your channel does at a canter what Top Gear dreamed of doing but failed. Respect to you guys. Inspiring stuff and fun.
Was just thinking how Joe's voiceover was very Clarksonesque 😂
I was unsure when I seen the black cab all those months ago...... but must admit being all black I think the Foden looks bloody amazing!...... ohhh and Ted at the end! So damn adorable!!
Mike, aka mic, is a welcome addition to the tanking crew. Go Mike!
I remember the BARV was suppose to be a function over form project too. You can tell you actually care about the Foden as it seems to be one of your best purchases. It definitely earns it keep for you.

That's a pretty good idea actually lol
Lovely to see you taking proper care of her.... you owe it to her. She'll look after you for many more years. ❤Foden

Genuinely becoming one of my favourite channels Mr Hewes 🥰👍
Relieved to see Ted in charge , with him on the case I can rest easy tonight knowing the job was done right under his careful directions
Looks bang tidy.....mics a 100% better. Can't wait for the finished article. Cheers lads
We all love the Foden, I personally like the all one colour look.
Good to see Jack back at it (nice work on the re-riveting of the side cabinets) and Ted back on safety duty.
Every video my respect for your work and Teds greatness grows.
LOL.... “Jiggery Pokery” is my new words of the week!!!! Foden looks great!!! Safety yellow for the outriggers? Nature’s warning colors, black & yellow. What do I know anyway. I’ve been told all of my taste is in my mouth. LOL

new mics are so much better! audio quality is pretty much spot on 👌
Well done Ted, overseeing the lads hard 😎😎work.
A pallet truck is a great thing for big heavy wheels 😊
Congrats on new mike! It actually DOES make a difference when we can hear what you say. Unbelievable, I know.
I see that the Rode mike did not survive for a long time, oh well. Would I be wrong if I say that it got _HEWED_ ? :b
Well done for getting the new mics that was loads better.foden looks cool in Matt black.

A bit of paint covers a multitude of sins. Good job, a big pat on the back to the team involved. Thanks for taking the time to video.
...and the new mikes!!!
Lots-o-lovin' on the Foden. Perfect episode for my favorite vehicle. 😊
I suggest adding those reflective strips on the support bars, the rear and front for some extra visibility at night as you mentioned your concern
I love what y'all do ! Glad y'all got a decent mike !!!
Whoo Hoo - we can hear you loud and clear! Many thanks for the video guys.
so new mike. sorry i didn't know you had sound until now. i've been watching with cc all this time. looks nice like all your work. just kidding about the sound. it is a big improvement though/ have a nice day, and keep building. wish i could come a turn a wrench with you guys.
The foden and lovely TED are brilliant. Good job too 🐕
Could do the boom and outriggers in or with some hazard stripe yellow. But the tacticool black is looking good. Get a logo in the door and box covers maybe?
I like the commentary style video 👍
I bloody love this channel!
Love the Foden play by play
Looks fantastic in the black, one thing I will say is that hammerite wont stay white for long.
We used to do rally cars in that collur underneath and under the bonnets but it always goes like a nicotine stained yellow after a few months.
Damn, Foden is an absolute thing of beauty. That black paint makes it look real menacing.
It looks like you have everything under control there Ted, I love drab olive but it does look good in black.
As an Ex 24 years time served REME mech and Tiffy you have done her proud. VERY ENTERTAINING! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!

That Foden is an impressive bit of kit.
So nice to see the beast getting some TLC, love it.
Always remember, that a grinder and paint will make you the welder that you ain't.

Looking Great - May the Force be with you all!
May the brute force be with you?
Great colour scheme, you guys are killing it, good to see the beast nearly ready for work again.
Excellent as always looking good 👍
Giant Tonka toy must be very satisfying to work on - great video
Love the improved audio from the new mic!
4k60 hdr with a real microphone!! Technical quality quickly approaching the quality of the foden
Nice to see the Foden getting some love , it's looking smart .. cheapo led strip lights for the lockers ?? strobes & high-vis / reflective tape for the legs ??
My thoughts exactly
Tusen takk for god underholdning. 👍🤗👍
Black was the best choice for the Foden body panels in my opinion, not that I’m any kind of expert. Nicely done lads, nicely done.💂♂️🪖⛑️🏴🇨🇦
As they say, It’s my and I can do what I want. Thanks for sharing another great job 👍
Super , great usable truck , did a great job , thanks for sharing!
Its good to see the old workhorse being improved.
you should do the outriggers black with reflective stickers on them, white would just look like they have been robbed off another truck
Microphone great touch improves the videos no end.. Thank you and please keep using it 🙏
You and me baby,
Ain’t nothing but Foden,
So let’s do it like they do on the internet via the modem.
Looks mint. It’s definitely my favourite vehicle
Love the wander round with a shaving brush!
Loving the Foden Joe, what a motor. Keep up the good work boys really enjoying the channel 👍
looking good Joe she coming along nicely 👌
You are doing the great job. and it will come to a end, all the little snags ready to work.
Nice job, just the right level to do the rough work without fear of scratching the paintwork. How are British electrical systems from the 80s? I myself grew up with Lucas, comment superfluous. A very nice channel with joy and love for what many see as unnecessary machines.
Best regards from Sweden.
All the electronics on this truck actually work fine
kiss off death there.........@@MrHewes
Lucas... the prince of darkness
I’m liking that ‘Strap On’ T-shirt.
Bright Neon Yellow - Or Sunburst Orange on the Riggers... Awesome
Great video!! You have a great team! (Jack) Lol.
The new mic and voice over has improved everything quite a bit. Thanks for that
Audio so much better than usual. New mike is great.
Looks great . Well done guys 👍
New mike sounds good and copes with background noise superbly.
Love the new mic, surprise it works so well in that silent echoless shed.
Good work.Always looking forward and enjoying your video's
black looks great, very distinctive! dont let em tell you any differently
That is one nice bit of kit if I had the money I'd buy one enjoy youre banter and streams
Awesome re-build. You'll get ppl ripping you for not painting it green, but it looks goo the way it is. If it's your work horse, make it how you want.
The Foden looks mean in black, what a beast
Top bombing fellas, including Ted... you have turned your Foden to the darkside 👍🏻😁
That Foden beast, gives me the metaphorical horn.
well done that man ... another good vid
When I worked as a contractor for the U.S. Army and I didn't have a wheel jack to remove and install a wheel I used a 2 wheel hand truck to help do the job. Just slide the lower plate under the tire, lift and pull, the tire slides off on to the hand truck and to install do the opposite.
We can all agree we need more Ted content!
Ted needs his own social media channels
There are few things that don’t look good in black… a big heavy duty truck looks dam good in it😁. That’s good going to get her painted up👌👍. Wonder if yellow or red out riggers might look better than white 🤔🤷♂🤷♂
I think black will look good but definitely needs the ATeam red bits lol. Seriously tho that monster with a proper custom paint job would look pretty special.
I gradually used up Mum & Dad's old heating oil tank for similar tasks.
Looking very good in black for sure
Good to see you got a mike. It will make the audio much better, well done.
Kym...
I like what you have done , can’t go wrong in black
Once you go black… on a serious note it does look great in black nice work guys
I like the scale rule as a Gide . I find your vids really very interesting lads keep it up
