Thank you for the video! It was really good! My dog has this because od L7-S1 IVDD. It started in august -22 when he suddenly wasn´t able to get up without pain, didn´t go to sofa or bed, couldn´t jump at all. It was treated a bit wrong at first and the symptoms got worse: his tail paralyzed and he started to have pain episodes where he screamed and started to limb. He also was kicking with his hind legs in rest sometimes. The he went to MRI and we found the disc protrusion. With strict rest and better meds he was able to return to almost normal life and later on was even without meds. 7 months after that he got pain episodes again and that was last november. Now he can´t live without pain meds and is going to have surgery. His sacrum has turned more down from the front and is pressuring the nerves from the above and the protrusion from below. With meds he can move pretty normal and is happy but can´t jump and at night time he ofter growls which isn´t normal for him.

I'm not sure if my dog actually has this. The orthopedic vet said he suspects it but had no results via X-ray. He suggested MRI but at $3k I can't afford it. 😢 Her symptoms began with shoulder issues so I took her in thinking that was the problem. He said he thinks the shoulder issues are just a symptom of the additional weight she puts on her front limbs from the likely back pain. He put her on a dog anti-inflammatory and that really helped, her shoulder symptoms subsided in a few days. He said to only use the meds when she might need it.

My husband’s retired police dog had lumbosacral disease. When she retired early we paid for an MRI scan. She had a congenital malformation in one of her vertebrae. All we could do for her was gabapentin, paracetamol, librela injections monthly and galliprant daily. We had two dogs on librela and galliprant. We called the cost our “dog mortgage” but gladly paid it. Her back worsened and she would squeal in pain so the decision was made to put her to sleep. She is still missed but at least out of pain.

Having gone through IVDD with Nika over 10 years ago, it is really interesting to hear about the latest medical advances in these diseases.

I have a 6year dog with LTV1 and VA1- and she started to show the first sighns after a chiropractic adjustment last fall- I wondered if it was the reason the symptomes started- looking at your video- It might be.. Will never take her to a chiropactor again, just physio :)

My 9 yr old lab was dx with LS disease and ruptured disc. On Tuesday. We have been on steroids and gabapentin. He is not incontinent. He is now taking few steps a lot better to go to the bathroom 3 days after steroids. Still showing lots of pain when and around bathroom times. Pls any suggestions on his quality of life and will he get back to some what normal pain free. We are doing red light therapy will do these exercises with him. Working on him loosing weight complete diet change. Will there be any kind of quality without surgery?

Thanks! I'm really enjoying these videos. Having a dog with spondylosis I'm always interested in learning more about the spine (even if it doesn't relate directly).
