Is the traffic different between the two? I thought the 65 gets traffic data directly, but the 76 gets traffic data from the Bluetooth phone. Can you elaborate how the 76 gets traffic without a phone connected? Thanks.

Both the DS65 and DS76 receive the same traffic data using one of two ways. The first way is using the built-in traffic receiver that both models have over FM, provided you are in a coverage area. The traffic coverage map is here coverage.here.com/rds-coverage.html The second way is via a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone using the Garmin Drive app. For both models, if "EX" is in the model name, then the built-in FM traffic receiver is NOT present and the smartphone must be used to receive traffic data.

Hi, i have just sold my Smart drive 65 and about to purchase a used 76. Do you know if there's a hardware upgrade in the 76 compared to the 65?
    Thanks

For physical hardware upgrade, the 76 uses USB-C and not mini USB like the 65 did. The DS76 can receive GPS, Galileo and BeiDou satellite networks whereas the 65 only received GPS and Galileo. I have a screenshot of this here ruclips.net/user/postUgkxYavRa6lFIHZ_eh96OtoijH-lDOcJ-cZe That's a software and not hardware upgrade, but still an improvement for maintaining position accuracy. Memory card style is still the same with microSD (it is not necessary to add a card as it has plenty of storage for map data). I do not know if any other hardware has changed for CPU, on-board memory or antennas it uses.
