some of the first real world motors were one cylinder much like the one you built ...mostly put in tractors ...low rpm heavy torque

For smoother piston rotation, i suggest longer piston rods. That is really cool.❤

The crankshaft needs a counter weight on the opposite side of the crank where the piston attaches it creates Ballance and helps it move in one direction and also keeps it from stalling

That's a really good transmission. I built an inline 4 engine and it makes so much torque that the normal little pipe gears can't handle it. Ill try that component box thing next time. Good video!

Hey just thought I'd try to give a little advice: The sensor at the top is fine, but if you have a constant duration on the thrusters then it wont be able to accelerate. A simple fix would be adding a second sensor to the bottom and having the thrusters active when top sensor is activated then deactive when bottom sensor is activated. Besides that, I think its a great design.

i Made a 4 Stroke Thruster Engine, and a 2 Stroke V8 engine in scrap mechanic. fun creations to build. and relatively simple to make.

Hi , I have also made a thruster based piston engine a long time ago and its actually really cool imo.
I also put it in a car with a gearbox , so it also drives , and also put it on a dyno and it makes ~65-70hp !
It doea use some mods , but not too many

i have been working on this kind of engine for 3 years, mine is about same size as yours but does 250rpm and had 55hp,also has 4400nm of peak torque its a boxer,
also you are kind of cheating by using the truster propulsion directly
