I can understand Woolie and Reggie's sentiment. You go a cabaret club, where all the dirtiness is flying around, and you order a classy and healthy fruit platter. Not even a stack of grapes so the hostess can feed them to you like you're an ancient Roman noble, but a basket with a melon, apples and bananas, chock full of important vitamins.

I guess it's because a fruit platter seems so benign and "normal." Given the raunchy nature of this situation (young hostess flirting with her older sugar daddy), you'd expect something like hard alcohol to compliment the vulgar atmosphere better.
