      I watched both reviews! Very helpful. I'll definitely get one when I move to the new flat and have more space to project the, um, space? :)
      Ah, I learned English with an old soviet teacher and these were always making sure proper British English is used in the materials. So it's actually much easier for me to understand you or someone from Scotland than an American :)

    Is it normal that the stars go blurry now and then ? Im wondering if i should return/exchange my model . Every say 5 min my stars go blurry as in the dots turn into short lines.

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  6 лет назад

      leen beets Hmm that doesn’t seem right to be honest. (Sorry)! On my model the stars do go slightly blurry but only around the very far edges of the projection. But even still they are blurry circles not short lines!
      Unfortunately you may have to return it I’m afraid! How frustrating! Sorry to hear that! I hope it all goes smoothly!

    Hi Alex i was wondering where you could actually place this laser ? It would have to be high enough so a child would not look directly into it so how close to the ceiling can the projector go before it becomes distorted? Didn't want to buy it and then have nowhere to put it. Would a wardrobe be to high? Sorry for so many questions.

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  8 лет назад +1

      +Verity Spinelli Hi Verity, dont be worryiong about the questions! Always glad to help. To be honest the further away from the ceiling the better the effect but dont forget you could (depending on the position) have it projecting against a wall. (i.e Pointing down from the wardrobe) But if the wardrobe isnt too high then you should have no problems. Ive just tested it on my toddlers 5ft wardrobe pointing at the ceiling and you still get a great, clear effect. However it doesnt cover the ceiling, only about 80% of it.
      (Its the same ceiling shown in the video) Dont forget tho as well it is wall mountable if you dont mind placing some screws in the wall and you could make it just out of reach of the little one but a good height for it to project well on the ceiling.
      Hope that makes sense!! If not just let me know!!! Always glad to help!! :-)

    Are there separate switches for the Green Laser Stars & Blue Nebula? If there are 2 separate switches & you had them both on...would the blue nebula & lasers always be at full brightness? I noticed that in both reviews the blue nebula faded in & out. I wasn't sure if that was you switching it on & off or if the blue "nebula" automatically fades in/out. I'm wondering if this would work at a wedding reception hall if I had all the room lighting dimmed down to like 20 percent (like candle light dark). Thanks!

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  8 лет назад

      Hi there!! Apologies about the late reply! In regards to your questions you will be glad to know that the device does indeed come with two switches!
      One switch is just an on/off push button for the stars and the other is a dimmer switch for the gas nebular so you can adjust the brightness.
      (The stars cannot be adjusted brightness wise tho)!
      So in the vid that is just me using the dimmer switch up and down but in reality you can just leave it on and it'll stay there! Hope that makes sense! :-)
      If you had the lights dimmed down btw then this should work fine, obviously you won't get the same effect as in total darkness but you should easily see the stars!
      If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
      Thankyou for watching and commenting too btw! Very much appreciated!!

    You seem like a sweet guy, but you STILL talk way too much. I was sitting here with my unit waiting for you to describe turning the unit on/ off high low, etc it's not that hard to figure out. I have had my unit on for over an hour. The green laser has been moving, but the blue cloud effect does not seem to be moving. I was wondering if there is any way to change timing of effects (other than turning the blue cloud higher or lower and I know you can also use either the blue or green independently. Thank you

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  8 лет назад +2

      Hi Bev, apologies for the late reply and apologies for the too much talking! Ha Ha! I honestly don't mean too but unfortunately it's just a very bad habit! Must like the sound of my own voice!!
      Anyhow I'm sorry to here about your blue light not moving, it would appear (as seen in other comments) that there are some slightly different variations/models of this gadget available! But being brutally honest you aren't missing much, on my one it only moves ever so slightly! As for the timing of the effects I'm afraid the only thing you can do is to buy one of those plug in timers and then you can programme the stars or the blue light (or both) to come on but I'd guess that's about it! Is that the kind of thing you meant?

  • @thane1448

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  4 года назад

      Hi there, so as this is a laser product then yes if you had the dots constantly passing your eyes then I’d imagine that it wouldn’t be good for them. However for simple ceiling projection then you are ok!!👌

      @@mcphoney i put random dark grey "blackholes" on the ceiling. I found out it makes things not as bright, lol.
      BUT---as the stars and nebula are moving around, they look really cool against the dark/light.
      makes them almost look like they get sucked into the blackholes then pop back out onto the light.
      I hung clear strips of packing tape from the ceiling and now when the lasers hit them, they send random (we have a fan blowing) comets and shooting stars !
      I made a fluffy cloud from stuffing and the lights dance in it in really cool ways.
      This light is awesome to play with!

      lillian pollock Hi Lillian, thanks for your question. I'm sorry to hear that your laser has gone bust! :-( To be honest I don't think it can be repaired, but at the same time I haven't looked into myself. It may just be a simple laser replacement or it may be more expensive than buying a new projector! Really sorry I couldn't be more help. Have you had it long?
      I suppose you could try and contact the company you bought it from and see if they know anything about a repair option, or see if there is a local 'specialist' electrician who may know what to do. Once again really sorry I couldn't help. Hope you can somehow get it sorted. :-) Let me know how you get on!

    Hi there great video thank you! I was wondering if it matters what type of ceiling you have - here in North America older homes have a "popcorn" or "cottage cheese" or "stucco" ceiling if that makes sense. Would the projector work equally as well?

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  8 лет назад

      Hi there! Apologies about the very late reply! To be honest it shouldn't matter what ceiling type you have as the projector seems to work on anything. It's more of "as long as you have enough darkness" that matters really. Hope that makes sense! Honestly though I'm positive the projector will work fine on your ceiling! :-) Thankyou for watching and commenting too btw! Very much appreciated!

      MCPHONEY not yet unfortunately:( i’ve contacted them and i had to send them video proof. they also said that the laser won’t turn on in conditions that are too hot/cold. i live in the UK as well and it’s not been that hot recently, in fact it’s been raining heavy the past couple of days! but even at night sometimes the laser won’t come on. have you ever had it where it doesn’t work or the laser flickers on and off?

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  4 года назад

      Veezuppp Hmm, they are talking rubbish. Why wouldn’t the laser turn on if it’s too hot or cold? Maybe if we lived on the sun or in Antarctica, I’d get that but here in the UK the temp shouldn’t be a problem.
      If you don’t mind me asking was it from Amazon you got the device?
      Also, (sorry about this) but just to confirm did you send over video proof to them?
      Finally how did you pay for the product?
      Basically by law you have 30 days to return a product if it’s faulty. If the company refuses to play ball which sounds like they may then this link could help.
      www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/visa-mastercard-chargeback/#how
      I know it’s all a pain in a the backside but if they do ask you to return it make sure it is returned/posted 1st class signed for with a signature.
      Just incase they try to say “it never arrived etc”
      But also contact them every day if need be.
      Asking have they received your video, are they sorting it out? etc
      Are they processing the refund etc
      Be kind but firm.
      Let me know dude!

    I have this projector as well. It gives a great atmosphere. The problem is the fan. It makes too much noise. I already sent back my first projector. The fan started to make more and more noise. Probably it is a very cheap fan without ball bearing. We hope the seconde device holds out any better.

      Hi Roy! Thankyou for watching and commenting! How loud was your fan? Was it getting ridiculously loud? My one is (so far) still fairly quiet. Don't get me wrong you can defo hear it but it doesn't ruin the overall effect or anything, just a slight background hum!
      That does appear to be he one thing about this device tho is that there are slightly different versions available and it appears to be the luck of the draw which one you get! Rog Ma Hi there! Thankyou for watching and commenting! I've got some bad news I'm afraid, although this is really quiet (could easily sleep or watch a movie with it on) it does have a very small fan/humming noise when it's on. Almost like a computer fan-but a quiet one! Not sure if you saw it but on the 6minute mark on the video I try to demonstrate the noise it makes being close and far away from it! If you need complete silence however in your music studio then I don't think this would suffice. For example my RUclips mic would pic it up in my studio. Even though it's barley noticeable!!
      Hope that helps!! :-) Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of good news!

    Multiple reviews saying that it arrived broken or worked only a few times and then never worked again. ALL of the planetarium projectors I have looked at have reviews saying that they break right away and have to be trashed or returned. What is up with that? So frustrating shopping for these things.

      Hi there! Apologies about the late reply! I don't think your question has been asked so I shall answer away! :-) Unfortunately though the laser isn't safe to look directly into like with all lasers. So you may have to keep an eye on young children playing with it just in case! Don't worry it won't burn your eyes or anything like that but still can be harmful! A great gadget though! Are you thinking of getting one? Thankyou for watching and commenting too btw! Very much appreciated! :)

      @mcphoney  5 лет назад

      Hi there, sorry about the late reply! I think in terms of height you should have no problem with the lasers. Can’t gurentee the blue nebular will be as vibrant however but personally I think you should still see it!
      But as for 10m wide I think you May struggle to fill it as in the demonstration the room is about 3m wife and although it does project onto the walls as well as the ceiling I would say on total it can only cover up to about 5m in length.
      Sorry I couldn’t be more precise as I don’t have anywhere large enough to test it for you!

      Hi Samuel, hmm thats an odd one. Have you spoken to the place where you bought it from? It may just be a slight fault with a motor or something? @Moses Mabarak Hi Moses, if you're still looking for a solution to this, I might be able to point you in the right direction, as I've been doing some research about this projector (or the previous version of it, to be exact) in order to sell a few of them on eBay. While looking at other sellers' listings, I came across this service (link below), "Laser Stars / Twilight Laser Repair - Laser Repair Service". Now, I've never used this service (and it's not the only one like it on eBay), so you'd be using it at your own risk! However, the seller I've linked has a 100% positive feedback rating with more than 1,500 ratings under their belt, so there's that. If you click the 'Services Desired' drop-down menu, you'll see they offer laser replacement, fan replacement, or both (US $29.99 for one or US $57.99 for both; that's £22.15 and £42.83 at the time of this comment). Their fee is a fraction of what it would cost to replace the whole contraption, and they say their turnaround is normally 1 - 2 weeks.

    wondering what opening angle this projection roughly has? I hope you understand what I mean. thinking about using the projector in a tent for a festival, but if the projection angle is only 90°, it won't be good enough. 180° would be perfect as it would fill the whole tend all the way to the bottom.

    Hi Alex. Great review, nice to see it up close and a good representation of the effects it produces.
    Looking to get one for 4-year-old to use at bedtime, although not sure now because of the fan noise.
    Do you happen to know how long the power cable is on it? I've currently got a lamp cable running behind a wardrobe and into the socket so it needs to be a decent length to reach.
    Thanks in advance. 😀

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  7 лет назад

      Hi Lee, Thanks for watching and commenting! The actual cable length (approx) is 180cm or 185cm with the plug! Hope that helps! Also, when we first got this device my son was the lightest sleeper, (waking up about 8-9 times a night) however the fan didnt seem to bother him! Its difficult to explain how loud the actual fan is, although it can be heard its more like a very mild hum if thats makes sense so i personally think your 4 year old should be ok with it! Cant guarentee it but i honestly think they'll be fine! :-)

      MCPHONEY Hi Alex, thanks for the super quick reply 😀. That's very helpful as I couldn't find the cable length anywhere online!

      @mcphoney  7 лет назад

      No worries Lee! Im actually editing ANOTHER updated review for my new channel MCPHONEY TECH (which is coming in a couple of months) so you asked at the right time! Ha ha! As for the epson projector Im not too sure what the sound is like on that however from projectors ived used in the past (a long time ago) id say it was slightly louder. But only slightly! Maybe even the same? Ive just tried to take a sound reading of it so i could give you the exact decibel and it appears to come up at around 6db. The app i used was showing 20db in complete silence and went up to around 25-27db with the projector on. Not sure if that makes sense but hope it helps!!! :-)

    Thank-you so much for the update. Can i ask a technical question.... Does it say on the unit anywhere what class of laser it has? I'm in Australia and we have some oppressive laws regarding what type of lasers you can bring into the country (brought in because of people pointing high powered lasers at airplanes). I have a nagging feeling these may be banned in Australia and you can only get knock off versions that have a downgraded laser and people say they are nowhere near as good. I will email FindMeAGift and see if they ship to Australia cause if they do i'm going to order one.

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  9 лет назад

      +dannymosquito Hi Danny, thankyou for watching and commenting! Glad the video was of some use! Gutted about the laser ban though! :-( However In regards to the class of the laser its a bit of a tricky one. Im mentioned it in the original video too because on the box and on the specifications (from the website) it is listed as a CLASS 1 laser however the sticker on the device itself labels it as a CLASS 2 laser.
      ruclips.net/video/YwfdAsdqnJs/видео.htmlm31s (Here is the clip of the sticker)
      But it does state that the maximum laser power output is 1mw which is usually quite safe so hopfullyl that will be ok to purchase in your country! :-) Hope that helps!
      Let me know how you get on!
      And thankyou for subscribing too - very much appreciated!!!

      @mcphoney  9 лет назад

      Hi there!! Thankyou for the kind words! Glad the review was of some use! :-)!!As for taking it on a plane i can't see there being a problem with it being in the hand luggage I think the main problem will be the size of it, especially if you keep it in the box. But if you are planning on keeping it in the box until you reach your destination I think it would be fine in your main luggage as it is wrapped quite well! Hope that makes sense! Plus our little one has knocked it over a few times and surprisingly it still works so they can take some knocks and bumps!! :-)

      +QuantomMusic Hi there! Thankyou for watching and commenting! To be honest we have (Well the baby has) been falling asleep to it for just over a year now and so far had no problems. And that includes turning it back on after it switches itself off. (Our baby is still frequently waking up so we are in his room most hours of the night) So id say its on at least 8hours per night with us! If you dont mind me asking did you read that warning somewhere or was it just word of mouth? Better be careful either way I suppose but it is defo worth getting! :-)

    • @JohnDoe-tf1tz
      @JohnDoe-tf1tz 8 лет назад +2

      +MCPHONEY
      The 4 hour warning is from the manufacturer. (In the instruction book that came with my unit)
      longer than 4 hours at a time can overheat the laser, thus shortening the life of the laser according to the manual
      My Unit was made before they came with a built in timer. So i have always had to plug my light into an external timer, and always have it on for 4 hours.
      I've had this light about 5 years ago. (mine still works but the laser is dimmer than when it was new, and all but two of the blue leds have gone out (there are 6-8 blue leds inside)....
      I used this light every night for 5 years, 4 hours a night (thats 7300 hours!!!)
      and just recently has it started to show its age.
      It still looks great, just not as bright as it used to be
      100% worth the money, will be buying another very soon

      Hi Colin, thanks for watching! Yes indeed the stars and nebula keeps rotating. The camera doesn’t give the display much justice I’m afraid - it looks better in real life! Anyhow hope that helped! Any further questions feel free to ask! 👌

    your soon going to get bored with that, maybe less talk and show us what it can actually do, because that didn't impress me..

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  6 лет назад +1

      MrMakjak001 I’ll be honest that’s pretty much all it does. It shines green stars with the option of a blue nebula effect too! Not really much else you can show considering 90% of the footage is the light in action, unless you have any ideas? Always value feedback you see! :-) Plus im planning on doing an updated review (like my cozmo one) so all help is much appreciated! Let me know! 👌

      Hi there, Thankyou for watching and commenting! There should be two switches, one for the stars which just is a push and click one and then a dial switch for the blue cloud! Let me know how you get on or if you have any further trouble! :-)

    Handsome Guy 👍🏼 and nice video. Can the stars be blue instead of green? I ask this because real life stars are white or blue, and I would like it to feel realistic. If you know of any new projectors like that please let us know!

      Hi there! Thanks for watching! I’m sorry to say the stars can only be green as it’s a green laser! It’s still very awesome as well as relaxing!!
      I’ve done a lot of research on other similar projectors but this one for the price seems the best. Others are just “slide projectors” that may create a nice effect but are far too expensive for what they are!! I nearly bought the “smithsonite” projector to review as that was quite popular but once again after reading other reviews, they weren’t too positive!! Sorry I couldn’t be more help!!

      @mcphoney  8 лет назад

      +AcesOverCowboys Hi there! Thankyou for watching and commenting! To be honest I think it would still work really well! Although tvs do produce a lot of light and dont think it would be enough to outshine this! You wouldnt get the full effect but you still get a damn good one!

    Thank you for your in depth review and answering everyone's questions. I was wondering what happens if you walk around in the room while the laser is on? Do the green stars show up on your body as you're moving around in the room?

    • @mcphoney
      @mcphoney  8 лет назад

      +......oOo Hi there, yes indeed they do, its like when you walk in front of a projector, whatever is being shown appears on you! Of course your shadow wil lalso appear on whatever is behind you as well)! Hope that makes sense!!
