love this idea. Would really be interested in your doing measured head-to-head between your BTB and an actual Bose system of like type (5 series with passive subwoofer?). You could measure SPL with same input power, frequency response, and then maybe a blind listening comparison. That would make a great video! Thanks for sharing, as always!

In fact, I believe they sued consumer reports after they had a negative review on the frequency response. Like I said, I'm not sure if that's still the case. But it's one of the reasons why it can be hard to find frequency response graphs on bose.

lol i made a similar stacked design (square box, not curved),
using 3-4mm bamboo sticks to link all the pieces up instead of a thicker wooden rod.
the difference was i stacked up all the in-betweens 1st, minus the top and bottom,
then i hand-sanded the interior smooth. after that then i glued up the top and bottom piece.

The replacement Bose speaker drivers are $35.00 each. Price is high for what they are.
Small speakers like that are not designed for Rock, heavy metal or Rap music. They have to have a frequency crossover installed.
Years ago BestBuy was playing music in the store. I was hearing this music everywhere. I could not figure out where the music was coming from. BestBuy has a open ceiling design, I couldn’t see any speakers. I kept looking and looking. Then I saw one, they mounted the Bose cubes high up on top of the steel girders in the ceiling. Those little cubes were filling the entire store with music everywhere you walked and could not tell where the music was coming from.
    The takeaway is.
If you use small speakers like that, mount them high up near the ceiling.

Bose stuff is ok, just not great value. They actually make decent small speakers these days. At least they had it right with the active equalisation of tiny speakers. Kind of needed as the response of a small driver in a cube enclosure isn't going to be all that great by itself.
With a decent box, of course the Kartesian will have higher performance ceiling. Will be interesting to hear how they sound as that is quite a large dustcap/dome radiator which could have a resonant chamber behind it

Literally a rounded panel of mdf with the speaker placed in the center literally harvested from a bose would sound better.

No matter how you look at it this type of speaker, this will NEVER be good speaker! Does not help if BOSE has made this type of speaker, it does not get any better for that reason. Bose is equal to no treble!
1 way without crossover never gives good sound!
