I was best friends with Mr. Evans son in elementary school, (early 1980's), and got to visit the property several times. Wonderful to take a walk down memory lane. I go to swim with Dr. J in the pool, see James Bond movies in the private theatre, play tennis with super stars, and meet a real life English butler. Thankful to the Evans family for their gracious hospitality back in the day.

Can't believe he's gone. End of an era. In NY he lived around the corner from my grandparents on Sutton Place. Took one look at this gorgeous man and made up my mind to meet him. I was 17. Loved his brother Charlie. Two amazing men.

Janette - without asking you to divulge any scandalous details, what do you remember about Evans that made him the ultimate party host? (Aside from Woodland, of course.)

@@MichaelAmidei I'm saddened by the news of his passing :( He was just a gracious man, great parties with lots of party favors ;) Was generous in every sense of the word. If you said you liked a particular item in his house, he would offer it to you. He had many famous people over for his movie screenings. Jack Nicholson was a regular. He really cared about people, gave of his time. I miss those days for sure...many stories those walls could tell! Ali McGraw was staying at his house with her dogs when her house burned in a fire. She was just the coolest as well. Rest in peace Bob, thanks for the wonderful memories

I’m reading his book now. He was so fascinating and I’m inspired by the life he lived… and how deeply self aware he was! I was reading some today and I screamed laughing. He was describing how someone wanted him to go back to his family business the fashion company, instead of Hollywood. To know this, and write this… is just what I love!

An interesting, talented man. And what a lovely home; so beautifully furnished with such a calming color scheme - elegant without being stuffy. Thank God, no tacky gilt-edged junk everywhere you look. It really does have an "away from everything" quality. No wonder he did the majority of his business from there; I'd find it tough to leave for any reason.

I am going to buy his book. I am so lucky to have visited this house around 97/98. I met Robert Evans for a few seconds and complimented the house. I was a very bashful young girl, but Robert Evans was genuinely curteous and thanked me. At the time, I didn't know of the amazing legendary films he produced & starred in! Hope the house rains the same 🌟 🎥

I got to spend New Year's Eve there about 25 years ago. Jack Nicholson and Warren Beaty were there along with Annette Benning. George Hamilton and his wife Alana Stewart were there as well. We watched a movie in the screening room behind the pool. There were little cups at the ends of the rows that had cigarettes for whomever wanted one. In his bedroom you could see inside from the hallway and he had a series of portraits with his son. This piece really doesn't do it justice. It was very small comparatively but very beautiful. He was dating Catherine Oxenburg at the time and though I didn't meet her I saw her there on another visit during the day. I think they got married later for about 5 minutes. Lol. Robert and a friend of mine were working on funding a charity together at the time.

Woodland looks, like, a beautiful, sublime sanctuary, that, seduces any and everyone, who, was/is fortunate to have stepped/step through its doors...What a beautiful and harmonious orchestra of concrete, wood, glass, metal, marble and water.

The Good Times don't last. This house during the 1970s and early 1980s was probably a very highly coveted place to be invited into but it now seems like a long forgotten place. R.I.P. Bob Evans. 🌋🌋

His estate was recently purchased by someone who owns a business, I forget which company. They auctioned off a bunch of his items and are going to renovate the house. Apparently Evans let it deteriorate somewhat over his final years. I don't think he died with much money
