    A very good comparison vid mate 😊 I just purchased the companion today. Your review has confirmed that I made the right decision 👍

    I had the Companion one and used it via my EcoFlow River Pro, it lasted about 10 showers then it stopped working. Was sent a replacement one and it lasted about 6 showers, couldn't even make a video about it. Companion said it's probably the EcoFlow's fault lol, I think it just can't handle the warmer water required for a shower.

    I pulled the cheap pump apart, that had stopped working (since I had nothing to lose) and got it going again and it has kept going ever since. the impeller had jammed which may have been some fine grit jammed in it. Trying to repair it resulted in damaging the clips which hold it together - a cable tie is now keeping it together. I used it a lot early this year on a 3 month trip away and it worked every time - so go figure!

    Definitely glad I found this video as I’m brand new to the 4wd scene and so easy for us younger guys to trust adventure kings or the really cheapy stuff for only $80 bucks or little bit more I’d rather something like that over the eBay special

      Glad you found it useful Brendan. You tube is a great resource to research products - what is good but also and in particular - what isnt good and why.

    i have the battery version of this from a different company. i use a kiddie pool for the water source just add water up to 3/4 full on the pool and use a microphone boom stand to hold the shower nozzle and it is ready to rock... i switched out the nozzle that came with it with one that adjusts from spray to pulse.. it fits perfectly and works great. p.s. putting a microfiber cloth over the pump acts as an external filter to keep the big stuff out of the pump

    • @timterry8714
      @timterry8714  3 года назад

      The microfibre cloth is a good idea but does it restrict the flow??

    Thanks for the vid. I have the same companion unit and it died after one use.
    Changed the fuse and checked for any loose connections. It appears the pump just died.
    The water was clean tap water.
    Thanks for sharing

      Yes I think these small impeller pumps are quite prone to water ingress through the seals and that results in rusted bearings. I always make sure the water is out and spray INOX into them to inhibit rust. Its not petroleum based and that certainly helps these pumps stay more reliable. Cheers Tim.

    Hey mate, what do you reckon about running the companion with collected river water? Would a makeshift extra filter do the trick?

    • @timterry8714
      @timterry8714  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jack, Sorry I have been busy and havent looked at the comments for a while. Yes you would definately need a filter for any of thiese 12 volt submersible pump showers, I reckon. I was going to look into it but havent as yet. Maybe something fashioned out of stocking or pantyhose as they would filter quite small particles but it would need to protected with a container so it didnt get small rips in the material. The impellers in these pumps are susceptible to small dirt particles that can jam them. I havent had trouble as long as I have used clean creek and river water.

    Would the companion pump screw onto a jerry can? I want to set up a jerry with a pump semi permanently mounted for washing and filling drink bottles. Can the hose and power cord come off the pump? My idea is to drill a hole in a jerry lid and drop the cable through then reconnect so the pump sits at the bottom of a jerry. Also do you know if you could fill a jerry up through the shower hose if the head can pop off? Thanks!

    • @timterry8714
      @timterry8714  3 года назад +2

      I dont know but it possibly would as the Coleman is designed to screw onto a 20 litre plastic bottle and the pump looks the same..... OK I will try it....
      I just went and tried screwing the pump on a plastic 20Ltr Jerry can and no it doesnt ( the things I do for you people....).
      Yes the entire head assembly does screw off leaving just the hose so you could fill up a Jerry using the pump.

    So for the blue one is the switch closer to the pump to turn the pump off and on? Also for the blue one can it be charged so that when the shower is in use it doesnt need to be plugged in? Finally can the blue one be charged by USB, or does it take a wall charger? Or perhaps you know if a link to the product which may have some of these detail? Finally is the charger for the blue one usb or of not is it small? For instance I want to recommend a product to a relative and I do not believe they have room for a charger that has a large battery that plugs to the wall ie whatever plugs to the wall should not be bigger than say 2-3 inches. I would also look up the charging time for the blue one if there is a product link. Thank you!

    • @jenniferh.7219
      @jenniferh.7219 2 года назад

      Finally why is turning it off at the shower head prob not good for the pump/ ie you are turning it on and off while you are showering to conserve water. I am asking these questions bc I have a relative with a shower/tub that isn't working and I am seeking to get them this product as unfortunately they are not able to get to a gym for shower regularly

    • @timterry8714
      @timterry8714  2 года назад

      Hi Jennifer, this is purely a 12V operated pump and runs from a cigarette lighter socket in a car or a battery pack. It does not have its own battery nor can it be charged by USB.

    • @timterry8714
      @timterry8714  2 года назад +1

      The in-line switch stops and starts the 12V power to the pump. The water restricting button is probably not an ideal way to limit the flow however it is unlikely to damage the pump.

    Is it still working?? Thanks for the video.

    • @timterry8714
      @timterry8714  2 года назад

      Yes Justin it is still working. The maximum he gets from the alternator only input (no solar or night time) is about 30-33 amps and thats only because we ran twin 10mm cables in the vehicle and trailer. Of course the 25 amp limit applies to individual inputs with both solar and alternator present. He achieves the full 50 amps in full sun while driving and both inputs present. We installed 3 x 175watt Renogy flexible panels in his van and now pretty much relies only on solar charging for all his power requirements. He spent 6 months away last year and never ran out of power.
