I think it’s great to see and hear humbleness from Mike Tyson. Actually, to hear both of them speak with a grateful attitude. It speaks volumes about their character in the present. They both achieved greatness in boxing, to which I’m a fan, and very pleased to hear them talk about the real skinny years later.

I like Tyson's answer to "Who was the greatest". Instead of saying Ali automatically like most dopes would, he gives respect to ALL the great fighters by saying "Everybody was the greatest in their time". We have no idea what Marciano would do vs. Ali, or for that matter, what a prime Tyson would do vs. Ali. Or a prime Tyson vs. Marciano. We only know those fighters were the best in THEIR time. Anything beyond that is pure SPECULATION. Tyson is smart enough to know this. Another reason to love Iron Mike!

Hell when he fought Holmes with Parkinson's he still didn't get knocked out. The only way Marciano would win is by knock out. He is too damn small to get in close. I agree. I always liked Larry Holmes and felt bad that he never received the credit he deserved for being a very good champion for so long. He was always generous with his fans. I met him once and he thanked me again and again for my complements to him, and he joked a little about his fight with Ali costing him a ton of fans, even though it wasn't his fault. He's a very nice guy. Glad that he didn't seem to suffer much long term injuries from his boxing career.
Tyson has grown on me over the years. I didn't like him from his arrest though his early comeback, when he bit Holyfield and all that nonsense, but I can forgive all that. There is a certain honest and genuine quality I've come to like about him, even when he's vulnerable. His show about the pigeons was interesting. I wish he'd of been able to get his shit together and be the best during the last 90s, even if it were just for a year or two.

Also Tyson was 37-0 and undefeated for the 1st 5 years of his pro career having 9 successful WBC defences, more than Rocky had and as many fights as Frazier had in his whole career. Just having 37 fights in 5 years is incredible even if some of the fights seemed easy the training certainly wouldn't have been and having that many fights at only 23 shows he was an immense athlete. If he couldn't beat any of the greats at his best they would have certainly been great battles.

There may have been some bad blood when they were younger but it's good to see the two champions sitting and talking. I was never a big Larry Holmes fan mainly because I loved Muhammad Ali, but Larry had a great career. No one was beating the Mike Tyson of the mid to late 80's. I wish Mike had stayed with Kevin Rooney. I still say that the Mike Tyson in the 80's trained by Rooney would have beaten Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield. As for Buster Douglas, he could have just stayed in hotel room. It would have been over that fast.

Cashous Clay was amazing the way he survived Earnie Shavers sledgehammer punches.ILarry Holmes in his prime is a extremely tough man.Larry Holmes got knocked down by probably the most devistating punch in heavyweight boxing history from the first fight with Earnie Shavers Larry Holmes fought Earnie Shavers twice and took that beaten from Mike Tyson.Mike Tyson is soo respectful to Larry Holmes here.Mike Tyson is a class act Two of the greatest boxers in history

I agree, Tyson is the same age as myself, when he won the crown at 20 he made me think I could make my own dreams come true. To me he's an icon. When Kevin his initial trainer left, his subsequent trainers didn't give him the support. Tyson didn't have professional family around him. He probably thought he could do it on his own, like all of us.

It's very scientific and thats how damato created the style and tyson's muscle fiber twitching and speed was perfect to arouse that ideological style. HAd damato been alive ,he would have clearly created the best pound for pounder in history because he molded tyson to be 1 mile wide AND 1 mile deep. The problem was that his death along with jacobs and don king taking over with robin givens caused tyson to keep the mile wide but only 1 inch deep, pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.

with all the belts that around in the 90s and even today you can start see and understand that george was worthy of title fights. foreman had a good chance to clip anyone and that is always what sells. mike was mostly a media hyped fighter, he had a brief moment when he was dedicated, but it was too brief to give him the edge over the great ones like a prime holmes, ali, foreman, lewis and maybe even frazier.

Nobody defeated Larry Holmes by KO (or TKO) in his entire career, expect Mike Tyson. I'm surprised on wiki, the fight with Tyson is recorded as a TKO loss. It was in fact a brutal 4th round KO loss.

If you watch the fight, after Larry was knocked out, there was real panic amongst Larry’s team the medics and security it seemed that they were worried Larry was seriously hurt or worse…… it was KO not TkO…..

The guy was an utter Iron chinned warrior wasn't he. And when he did get knocked down by the hand of Shavers, he not only got back up but ducked, weaved and beat him. One of the best, most pausing jabs ever and he fought everyone from Shavers to Norton in the golden era to Cooney, Tyson, Holyfield and more in the 80's. Fantastic. Easton Assassin indeed.
