  • We just got the Manticore-R prototype in hand and have been testing it out. We think that this goggle brings a LOT to the table, and is quickly working its way up to be one of our favourite designs. Join us for this exclusive overview of a very interesting and feature rich night vision goggle, the Manticore-R.
    Thanks to Nocturn for this housing: nocturnindustries.com

    Can’t wait. I emailed the company (Nocturn) a few days ago asking for an update on the release date of their whole new lineup. No date was shared with me other than “soon”, but they did say the Manticore-R will be released first. Followed by the rest of the new lineup.

    I was thinking about getting the katanas, but I might save for these. Manual gain and aluminum body all while being pretty light.

    I wonder if the onboard power is worth it over the samurais that are set to release, gonna be a hard choice between the two tbh, however it's definitely this or the samurai (id love to see a video of the ruggedized samurais too lol)

    I also quite look forward to the panohousing, will there be a overview video similar to this as well in the near future?

    Looks awesome! Any plans for a panning version? Seems like that's the next big product feature on the horizon in the market. I would love to see a ruggedized housing with articulation, manual gain, and panning capabilities.
    Thanks for the overview.

      Would have to ask Nocturn for that, but that would be cool, though a lot of engineering involved.

    Im waiting for the moment when Nocturn Industries gonna release nvg with 51° FOV. Then that is going to be a real deal

    • @coldharboursupply
      @coldharboursupply  10 месяцев назад

      FOV Might be more of a lens thing than Nocturn themselves, but we are always exploring options.

    Would an iRay Jerry CE5 clamp onto that housing? That definitely checks all the feature boxes hopefully at a reasonable price.

    I'm new to NVG, A question to the offboard power, as mentioned it uses LEMO port, is it possible to make a LEMO port to USB port adapter so we can use other USB power bank to charge NVG?

    • @coldharboursupply
      @coldharboursupply  Год назад

      Anything is possible if you try hard enough. But nothing currently exists and we do not have plans to offer usb.

    Any idea if any of these companies are working on putting a VCSEL illuminator in the housing? It’s tough to get excited about LED-based illuminators at this point, I’d rather just run my helmet light.

    Just clarifying: if you have MX11769 tubes, the gain control won't work at all, right? It HAS to be the 3-pad Photonis system, correct?

    • @coldharboursupply
      @coldharboursupply  Год назад

      EDIT Nocturn has some info on this:
      "It uses 3 pad style MX-11769s. For standard L3/Elbit MX-11769s we provide a corresponding flex adapter that replaces the EGAC. For L3 tubes it’s plug and play. Elbit and legacy require soldering."

    It seems that a lot of foreign substances will flow into the gaps between the 4 buttons on the front of the housing. Are there any problems with this?

    • @coldharboursupply
      @coldharboursupply  Год назад

      The buttons have dust boots and will be potted underneath

  • @mattg9971
    @mattg9971 Год назад +2

    Can you drop in 11769 tubes with pig tails and get manual gain?

      We/Nocturn will release these details as they become available.

    How do these stack up against AB housings?

    • @coldharboursupply
      @coldharboursupply  8 месяцев назад +1

      Time will tell but from our impressions of Nocturns latest products they are going to be a big name to beat in the NV world.
