  • I don't often do IAP playthroughs but this one is something special. KORG have just updated Module of iOS and added London Symphonic Orchestra as an IAP and, at the time of recording (13th October 2023), it is on sale for only £6.99 (plus you can demo it free for 7 days).
    The sounds change depending upon the velocity so it can take a bit of getting used to but each of the 17 presets sounds really nice, as you can hear in the video!

    They should have released this at King Charles big day.
    Now if Korg can release some "disco strings" like the ones used on Fly Robin Fly, Donna Summers disco tunes, etc.
    Now I can recreate those orchestra pieces played in Lord of the Rings movies and Games of Thrones.

      @@ColinPowell_AMultitudeofOne I'm jealous, I don't seem to have access to buying that one! When you say Korg Module, do you mean "Korg Module Pro" by chance? Is the list of available sounds different? Or is it because I live in the US? Any idea? I *want* this!!

      @@jsfbay1 Yes, this is Korg Module Pro and the London Symphony Orchestra pack should be available when you go to the Store option in the top right of the main screen, with the option to Try Demo or buy the pack. If you don't see it, it could possibly be a regional thing (I am in the UK). I only have the Pro version so I can't check the non-Pro version to see if it is available there. I believe it is possible to unlock the ability to purchase In-App Purchases from the free version though.

      @@ColinPowell_AMultitudeofOne The
      They seem to be and I initially bought a few all at once, and I think it came to nearly £50 . I would usually spend more than that on a VST plug in to use in Ableton Live, so I felt it was worth it. I then discovered that there was a credit balance and some of the packs showed up as free. When I downloaded what I wanted and later bought some more, there was yet another credit balance and I think buying them all gave me about 40% off altogether. They weren’t cheap of course, but I thought that it would cost about £300 or more to buy them all, but I was happy to find out that I spent quite a bit less than that over the time that I was buying them.

      Thanks. I am not classically trained either (self-taught) but I would say the most important things are to get some goods sounds and to use expression to vary the velocity of different sections of a track to make it more natural

    Question: which Korg piano app do you have to buy first? Then, is it offered to you as a sound pak? Is this Auv3? Can I use this in Garageband iOS?

    • @ColinPowell_AMultitudeofOne
      @ColinPowell_AMultitudeofOne  10 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you, @Renahere1885! Korg Module is itself the base app and it comes with plenty of piano, synth and orchestral instruments, all of which can be added to via IAPs (which can be expensive but you get a 7 day trial period). It is AUv3 so you can use it in GarageBand iOS and the sounds are also available to use in Korg Gadget, if you have that app.

    am i understanding that playing the same notes with greater velocity will bring out more instruments/sounds/textures,
    and that playing the same notes with lesser velocity with bring out less instruments/sounds/textures?

    • @ColinPowell_AMultitudeofOne
      @ColinPowell_AMultitudeofOne  11 месяцев назад +2

      Rather than less or more sounds, it is actually different sounds e.g. in some presets, if you play notes quietly you get a nice soprano voice sound but more velocity changes it to strings. But by varying the velocity in each hand or even fingers of a hand you can increase the number/texture of sounds.
