Great video!, but i built a version of this deck, and at least for me, it felt alot more powerful on paper then it felt when playing it in my playgroup this weekend. I got owned by the other players decks on around a powerlevel 7. I think this deck could be powerful, but it needs some serious tweaking and work, and you cant just throw value-cards in there and it will just work as it does with some other deck. One big problem i experienced was that the deck wants to go in different directions and not really commiting to one plan. Some cards wants to lock down opponents creatures, some want to voltron your own, some want to pillow fort and some want to tax, and some want to lifegain/lifedrain. So alot of the games i had, i got some ramp with the creatures that lessen the cost and got a pillow fort out and started draining with Eriette, but after a boardwipe that fort was gone, and i was now the target because i had most life and the others recursion was faster. And i found myself often running out of gas, because most carddraw is from having creatures out with abilitys, and casting auras that trigger that. And that engine gets removed easily with creature removal and boardwipes. Thenb competing blue decks just cast draw x cards spells and get ahead. This can ofcourse be just my build, but what im trying to say is that you need to really figure out your Emirettes deckbuild, really figure out what plan you have, maybe prox a little and see where it works and dont before buying alot of cards. I do really think Emirette can be powerful and work well, but my list did not and was a little dissapointed to be frank. So its back to the drawingboard for me, first thing im gonna do is removing lifedrain creatures from my build, and adding more voltron auras and also better carddraw enging thats not require creatures to be out with abilities like "when u play auras draw a card". and adding 3 lands. Feel free to post here if you figured out a deckbuild that works well (and ofc tested that it does) i gues more comments just help MTG Burgeon out with the YT algorythm. And ill post my current not working so great decklist here: www.moxfield.com/decks/vJ-64UZkCEiheqTmuAy8Qg
Hello and thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate them. Also thank you for your detailed recanting of your own Eriette build. With such a voluminous number of auras and avenues to take when crafting an Eriette build (as you mentioned above), for the purposes of consistency in a vacuum, it may be best to craft the 99 as a Voltron theme. Through this dynamic, we know FOR SURE that we will have auras to enchant Eriette and win our games through global life-drain and/or Commander damage. In recurring and ongoing play-groups/meta-games, perhaps a little more individuality in brewing Eriette can take place through familiarity in decks and game-play styles and tactics. I agree with you 100% that for game-to-game overall consistency and effectiveness, Voltron Eriette is best path to take (similar to your current build on moxfield). Happy brewing, and thank you again for sharing!
Thank you so much! I am glad you liked it. Unfortunately, there is no deck list because this is not a full deck. In Building Around Series videos like this one, we craft the thematic core (auras, in this case) of an EDH deck, and then leave the removal, disruption, ramp and mana base in the hands of the individual. Happy brewing!
Omg this commander is gonna be nuts!!!
She is Rickdiculously strong!
