Brought tears to my eyes at the end. Ryan you are amazing! Love the way you work individually with every horse you put your hands on. And help teach and show us so much. You are a trainer for the betterment of all horses. Something we all need to learn. Not every horse fits into the same box. We never know a horse that comes into our lives past. Sending a shout out from Australia.
Gosh, I just loooove what you do and how you do it. All horses need to be treated with the kindness, gentleness, understanding, and patience that you show. I'd love to join your patreon. However, being retired and the cost of living being outrageous in Australia at the moment it's just not possible. But thank you so much, Ryan, for all the free content you put up for us. It's greatly appreciated ❤
The change in that horse in a few days is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing. I was going to ask if the horse would ever be able to be trusted, but that last bit of the video I think the answer is yes. What a transformation.
Very nice to see the mare quickly learn to start choosing backing away when unsure rather than pushing forward aggressively. Love that you showed respect for what she could do if she had a mind to, keeping yourself in a safe place while training her. So many people are oblivious to how dangerous a horse can be.
I will watch this this evening. I am going through the same thing with a pregnant rescue spotted saddle horse. In the past when I would get a biter I would give it a carrot and put the halter on while it was eating. Worked like a charm. I know they are all different. I had a paso years ago that picked up my vet by the overalls and threw him like a ragdoll. He screamed like a girl and I didn't blame him. That horse never offered to bite me in the six years I had him so you never know....
I have wanted to find a channel like yours forever. I love horses but I’m nervous around them. I really want to understand how they think and react to confident people and it’s so interesting to see actual owners have issues.
I never forgot an article I saw about a woman who was attacked by her stallion. She’d been around horses all her life, and she’d had this stallion since he was a foal. But this day when she was leading him he suddenly attacked her, picked her up by the arm and started shaking her. She ended up having her arm amputated. We tend to take them for granted, but they can be extremely dangerous if they decide to attack.
I saw a young girl get her ear bit off trying to feed a stallion. He was a well trained breeding show horse. It just takes a minute. You never know. Although this was a stallion, any horse can hurt you.
“Please don’t bite me” 😂 great tactic lol horses don’t care about humans the whole problem is that we’re asking things of them so just do it respectfully.
She looks pregnant. She's a gorgeous girl. I love how you're patient, kind, and fair, and tailor your methods depending on what each horse needs! Her front legs seem to be very itchy.
My first horse bit, kicked, crowded you, reared, laid down, and balked. A soured reining horse. Had to sell him because I was soon to be a mother, but by then I could do anything I wanted with him. Perseverance and being in my teens when I got him and fearless, he was a good friend in the end.
Very nice to see. Mare has clearly bad experiences with cowboys who put on a halter on and force her. Ryan is telling her If you respect my bonderies I respect yours. She's trusting him.
My own horse picked up a 3 wire bale of alfalfa weighing 135 pounds (verified on a livestock scale) with his teeth, out of an open top horse trailer and pulled it out to start munching on it because he didn't think I was going to unload it fast enough for his liking! (He was a Shire-Quarter horse cross standing 16.2 HH.) I had just come home with a ton of alfalfa loaded in the bed of my pick up truck and my horse trailer! I was backing the trailer into the barn and had to stop to open the back of the horse trailer for unloading when my horse came up along side of the trailer to help himself! He was incredibly impatient when it came to his alfalfa! So, having seen that myself with my own eyes, I have no trouble believing that a horse can pick up a grown man with his teeth and toss him over a fence without a bit of trouble if he wants to!!! Horses are a lot stronger than you think they are! FACT!!!!
Becky, as someone who has worked in marketing, may I suggest that every time you are in public especially on camera promoting Windy Hill Rescue you wear a Windy Hill T-shirt. It further imprints your message.
I think the owner is a bit too green for this horse in the beginning. Yes, the horse was defensive in the beginning but while you were working with it I didn't see an aggressive horse. Just a lot of holes in its foundation.
At the beginning of the video, the chestnut (gelding?) in the next pen was really invading her space. Do you think the divided attention impacted her response to you then
They make horse whips for a reason.how do you think that stallion keeps them all in line.it ain't by giving cookies and kisses. Animals understand what is being said to them lke most Americans understand Chinese.
How would you train a horse with food aggression? Note how this lady handles it. Seems dangerous! ruclips.net/video/S4fMgAZaErk/видео.htmlsi=g_gviNsGoh9jfPMH
I can't help but wonder if this horse will ever be trustworthy. Don't yell, but is she really worth all of the time and money poured into her just to get a halter on her?
Your energy is much more important to a horse than words. Horses rarely "talk" with each other with language, they talk with their emotion, bodies and movement. While a dog can understand 165 to 250 words, a horse generally only learn to understand somewhere between 8 and 15 words. What you display with your body and emotions say a great deal they can understand.
Simple tip- if the horse is fighting against you send her away. This only works in a round pen. Keep sending her away from you till she turns to face you. Monty taught that. She will eventually respect you. Stop tiptoeing around that’s making the horse think you’re a clown.

I've leared a lot watching this one. This must be one of the hardest type to work with, . Great that you help this rescue centre and help these horses
Wow! I’m glad you added the clips at the end to show how the horse was doing. Wonderful to see!
@@katyratyra Becky's doing great with her. 👍
At 2:39 minutes you actually have 2 pressure situations going on; Ryan with the stick in front, and the brown horse directly behind.

Way too early to know. I do see a lot of promise at this point.
You don't talk to the horse during training. Isn't verbal communication important too?
