As a malinois owner i will say, it helps a lot if you have a job for these dogs. They want to work and do a good job for you. But if you're not mentally stimulating them, they will get bored. And boredom for a malinois means escapes, destruction of property and acting out. They are amazing and beautiful friends who will love you to pieces. Just know they're a handful as well
That goes for working dogs in general Anyone getting any dog should research the breed first and be prepared to give it the best life possible for its breed.

My big boy is the same. Rough play but zero possessiveness with his toys or food. I can reach into his good bowl or simply take it away with absolutely zero aggression towards me. 3 plus years and he's never once shown me any aggressive behaviour for any reason. He's amazing. 100+ lbs mastiff x boarder collie x black lab mix. He's even fantastic with every single dog he's met. Couldn't ask for a better pup
My dog played loud and always growled to try and intimidate you to drop the toy, but once you say “drop “ she would let go and wait to see if we would still play or if I was done. I miss my girl

I met a dog like that at a park recently. It was slightly smaller than average but it kept running in circles near me and kept growling whenever it got close to me, but didn't touch me at all. I'm pretty sure it was just trying to scare me for fun.
Our gsd-mix also growls when playing. He likes to play wrestling with me or a toy and sometimes pretends like he is biting my leg (biting gently). I'm a relatively weak woman so he has to hold back his strength when playing with me. Those play growls sound very different than when he is actually mad.
“Vocal player” I like that. I had a dog that was half pit bull and half golden retriever/lab mix dog and this was exactly how I played with her. She was a vocal player also. It used to freak people out and I always had to explain that and demonstrate I could stop everything and have her laying down in a second. But no one could look past the pit bull features. Wonderful dog, super smart and obedient and looked after my autistic son until the day we had to put her down (cancer). That was 5yrs ago; I just got a new puppy to train to help me/my son with his challenges and also be a companion for him. Given my son’s issues, I opted to get just a lab/golden retriever mix and she’s only 10mos old and she’s really impressed me with how looks out for him & alerts me when he’s doing something dangerous. As if she’s my last dog reincarnated. Despit Missing the pit bull she still looks exactly like her which I was trying to avoid…took me a minute to get past.
Some dogs, specially big breeds, drool on the regular 🤷🏻♀️ Mine is about a medium sized mutt and luckily doesn't drool like that (cause I find it kinda nasty). But yeah, doesn't mean the dog was feeling any other way.
The reason he acts like that because you have his favourite toy and he thinks you are going outside having a nice adventure. You are exiting him on purpose.

I train working dogs for a living. Getting the dog to drop something instantly isn't an issue ever. He needs to burn that energy out then train some more. They listen better after spent energy. Quick tip, put a treat in your mouth and say the dog's name when he looks at you reward it by spitting treat at it's face. Overtime the dog will look at your face when you call his name rather then looking at your hands

Tokyo Drift is my border collies favorite game. She latches onto the rope and holds on while I spin. Front paws off the ground and hind paws occasionally airborne for a couple seconds at a time. She'll complain loudly if she feels she isn't "flying" enough.
As a lover if Siberian Huskies & Alaskan Malamutes I deeply appreciate the warnings you provide for people considering adding a dog to the family. Every breed has characteristics that might be deal breakers. Breaks my heart to see folks who don’t run, adopt a husky, or don't want a puller, get a Mal. The worst is when they're shocked by the shedding and make them live outside without a pack. It's exhilarating to hear his vocalization. Love HIM!!!
I have a husky and a small mixed breed, when he was about 3 months old he didn't want to sleep inside anymore and wanted to go outside, he's loved it ever since. He does cry when he wants to come inside and play or if he wants to go on a walk
My Siberian Husky (My Nina girl) is the 4th member to our pack. Our other 3 are big beautiful American bull pits. Nina is more of a bully than any of them, but she keeps them well exercised aside from our walks. It’s amazing how protective of them she is at only 6 months old. Yes she’s a runner and it’s nearly impossible to catch her without some sort of plan. But she will follow the rest of the pack to Hell if they lead her there. They won’t leave my yard not even a step. If she gets loose, I usually just let the other 3 out to bring her back home. 😂 4 dogs sounds like a lot of work, but it’s really nearly the same as having one dog. The older pack members help teach the young. I may not have been able to handle her if she were my only companion. Huskies are definitely pack animals. They are at their best when raised along side other dogs.
This guy sets a fantastic example of how you should handle such a powerful, driven breed. He has a clear command, that the dog respects completely, to tell him when it's time to stop. He engages the dog in play and frequently incorporates this command to reinforce it and prevent the dog from becoming overstimulated or defensive, and then gives the dog the toy and "lets him win." He keeps clear boundaries while also respecting the dog's needs and wants. I wish more owners had this level of mutual respect with their dogs.

oh my goodness I miss my German Shepherd, she used to LOVEEEEEEE this kinda play with her toys, she absolutely loved tug of war that was her favorite. My grandfather actually got her for me when I was around 2 years old because I had a fear of dogs and he wanted me to learn how loving and protecting they are, it was one of the best decisions my family could’ve made ❤ She protected me her entire life and she still holds an extremely high place in my heart above any dog i’ve had since. Me and my family were her entire world and she’d do anything to keep us safe. Lol they even let me name her, which my uncle was very disappointed to learn when he got home from work that day, as I decided as a two year old to name her Princess 😂

My dog does this as well. He sounds like a rabid beast attempting murder, and we'll legit be rolling all over the place ragdolling each other pretty harshly, but he'll stop the moment I expose the palm of my hands or tell him to, and he's never even put a scratch on me. They know exactly how much is too much for playfighting. People are always so weirded out when they see it, but once they know it isn't serious they find it fucking hilarious.
Great advice they are awesome dogs for the right person. I have seen a good bit of people who can’t handle the breed people just want one because they think they are a cool not thinking about the dog and it’s need.
The dog's insane reaction time to commands is crazy impressive. Despite the emotions and intensity of wrestling, it INSTANTLY reacts to commands to release. Wow!
I have a austraian Shepherd who does the same. we can go absolutely nuts and will give the command and she is instantly sitting down and relaxed. it's awsome
As a male pit bull owner, I love this. It's shows what knowing your dog and good training looks like. Belgian Malinois are much more intense than most pits but still, okay is very similar. Thank you for teaching this lesson, I always reccomend a breed that fits the person, not what you think you want!
The little fur missile that is the Belgian Malinois isnt even a really big dog by comparison, upper mid size at most. Its just ALOT of dog and can be extremely challenging to keep up with if you do not know what youre doing.
I used to have a Groenen, he had the cutest way of arguing with me being a voicy, snarly little gremlin, but he was also the most precious and snuggly dog ever, capable of giving real hugs and knowing how to comfort me. It is nearly going to be a year now that he passed in about 2 months. Your boi is a cutey and also a little gremlin, I can tell. I am very happy for you.
It would be disastrous to get one of these breeds if the person is not able to control this type of dog. I appreciate your videos helping to raise awareness about responsible dog owning.
That's how all the refuges malinois are: disastrous. They were under-stimulated and got destructive out of boredom. Then they get scolded and handled badly. They get upset because they've got too much energy and the owner doesn't understand them. So the owner gets rid of the dog and if the dog is lucky, they aren't killed, but end up in a refuge where people don't have the time or the skill to undo what has been done, so everyone who goes in the refuge only see a dog who is pretty angry and who of course has little trust in humans.

@@smgp2023 I've had a small mix who lived 18 years, a malinois who lived 18 years and was one year younger and she was absolutely not like the typical malinois (a nice couch dog, she was so quiet) and after they were gone at my dad they got another malinois I've lived with for a few years; now where I live we have a tall mix who's all black and has some shepherd blood. My dad's current mal is very typical and very smart, but her metabolism makes her get fat super easily so it's something to control all the time. The one I have here is a couch dog.

My best dog ever was a Belgium Malinois. She died in 2013. She was the first dog that I had as an adult. I got lucky with her. We adopted her at 5 months and we were her 4th home! She was incredible. Such a happy girl. She was a brilliant guard dog, however she was my very best friend. Although she has been gone for almost a decade I still miss her desperately. How lucky I was to have shared her life for 13 glorious years. Love you my Baby❤🐾
My dog is the same colour and body shape of your malinois,except her face is less black. She is a rescue dog and allegedly supposed to be alsation/ staffy with some mastiff thrown in some where. She is a very gentle and receptive dog. Only barks when someone comes to the door and boy its a loud bark. The speed she runs at is quite amazing, but has never caught a squirrel yet! Your boy is gorgeous, but i would never have one,due to not being able to give the amount of physical and mental training plus walks. Also although i have had quite a few dogs in the last 37 yrs I'm aware I probably could not train him/her to the necessary level. Although all my dogs have played with toys, but gave them to me when i said leave. There is so much more to know how to train to an extreme breed to a 😢❤ level to keep them safe. I cannot believe how much he looks like my girl. ❤ He is so quick when he goes to pick up the toy.. it's such a pleasure to watch you play/ work together...

Tokyo Drift is my border collies favorite game. She latches onto the rope and holds on while I spin. Front paws off the ground and hind paws occasionally airborne for a couple seconds at a time. She'll complain loudly if she feels she isn't "flying" enough.
You could also just bring a strong rope to the park and have a pull-the-rope game with your dog.

As a lover if Siberian Huskies & Alaskan Malamutes I deeply appreciate the warnings you provide for people considering adding a dog to the family. Every breed has characteristics that might be deal breakers. Breaks my heart to see folks who don’t run, adopt a husky, or don't want a puller, get a Mal. The worst is when they're shocked by the shedding and make them live outside without a pack. It's exhilarating to hear his vocalization. Love HIM!!!

I have a husky and a small mixed breed, when he was about 3 months old he didn't want to sleep inside anymore and wanted to go outside, he's loved it ever since. He does cry when he wants to come inside and play or if he wants to go on a walk

My Siberian Husky (My Nina girl) is the 4th member to our pack. Our other 3 are big beautiful American bull pits. Nina is more of a bully than any of them, but she keeps them well exercised aside from our walks. It’s amazing how protective of them she is at only 6 months old. Yes she’s a runner and it’s nearly impossible to catch her without some sort of plan. But she will follow the rest of the pack to Hell if they lead her there. They won’t leave my yard not even a step. If she gets loose, I usually just let the other 3 out to bring her back home. 😂 4 dogs sounds like a lot of work, but it’s really nearly the same as having one dog. The older pack members help teach the young. I may not have been able to handle her if she were my only companion. Huskies are definitely pack animals. They are at their best when raised along side other dogs.
This guy sets a fantastic example of how you should handle such a powerful, driven breed.
He has a clear command, that the dog respects completely, to tell him when it's time to stop. He engages the dog in play and frequently incorporates this command to reinforce it and prevent the dog from becoming overstimulated or defensive, and then gives the dog the toy and "lets him win."
He keeps clear boundaries while also respecting the dog's needs and wants.
I wish more owners had this level of mutual respect with their dogs.

oh my goodness I miss my German Shepherd, she used to LOVEEEEEEE this kinda play with her toys, she absolutely loved tug of war that was her favorite. My grandfather actually got her for me when I was around 2 years old because I had a fear of dogs and he wanted me to learn how loving and protecting they are, it was one of the best decisions my family could’ve made ❤ She protected me her entire life and she still holds an extremely high place in my heart above any dog i’ve had since. Me and my family were her entire world and she’d do anything to keep us safe.
Lol they even let me name her, which my uncle was very disappointed to learn when he got home from work that day, as I decided as a two year old to name her Princess 😂

As a male pit bull owner, I love this. It's shows what knowing your dog and good training looks like. Belgian Malinois are much more intense than most pits but still, okay is very similar. Thank you for teaching this lesson, I always reccomend a breed that fits the person, not what you think you want!
Good advice, too many people get big dog's but can't handle them.
The little fur missile that is the Belgian Malinois isnt even a really big dog by comparison, upper mid size at most. Its just ALOT of dog and can be extremely challenging to keep up with if you do not know what youre doing.

I used to have a Groenen, he had the cutest way of arguing with me being a voicy, snarly little gremlin, but he was also the most precious and snuggly dog ever, capable of giving real hugs and knowing how to comfort me. It is nearly going to be a year now that he passed in about 2 months.

It would be disastrous to get one of these breeds if the person is not able to control this type of dog. I appreciate your videos helping to raise awareness about responsible dog owning.
That's how all the refuges malinois are: disastrous. They were under-stimulated and got destructive out of boredom. Then they get scolded and handled badly. They get upset because they've got too much energy and the owner doesn't understand them. So the owner gets rid of the dog and if the dog is lucky, they aren't killed, but end up in a refuge where people don't have the time or the skill to undo what has been done, so everyone who goes in the refuge only see a dog who is pretty angry and who of course has little trust in humans.

@@smgp2023 I've had a small mix who lived 18 years, a malinois who lived 18 years and was one year younger and she was absolutely not like the typical malinois (a nice couch dog, she was so quiet) and after they were gone at my dad they got another malinois I've lived with for a few years; now where I live we have a tall mix who's all black and has some shepherd blood. My dad's current mal is very typical and very smart, but her metabolism makes her get fat super easily so it's something to control all the time. The one I have here is a couch dog.

My best dog ever was a Belgium Malinois. She died in 2013. She was the first dog that I had as an adult. I got lucky with her. We adopted her at 5 months and we were her 4th home! She was incredible. Such a happy girl. She was a brilliant guard dog, however she was my very best friend. Although she has been gone for almost a decade I still miss her desperately. How lucky I was to have shared her life for 13 glorious years. Love you my Baby❤🐾

My dog is the same colour and body shape of your malinois,except her face is less black.
She is a rescue dog and allegedly supposed to be alsation/ staffy with some mastiff thrown in some where.
She is a very gentle and receptive dog. Only barks when someone comes to the door and boy its a loud bark. The speed she runs at is quite amazing, but has never caught a squirrel yet!
Your boy is gorgeous, but i would never have one,due to not being able to give the amount of physical and mental training plus walks.
Also although i have had quite a few dogs in the last 37 yrs I'm aware I probably could not train him/her to the necessary level.
Although all my dogs have played with toys, but gave them to me when i said leave.
There is so much more to know how to train to an extreme breed to a 😢❤ level to keep them safe.
