Its true.. been watching consecutive interviews and that's been going on for yeaaarrrsss. I think it's part of the shyness and it's great how humble they've remained
They act like they're still the same age as they were when the electric feel song came out! That's precious and beautiful.. i love mgmt and connan mockasin ♡
It's nice to see Andrew and Ben doing interviews again. They seemed to kinda stop doing interviews the past few years. And it's cool to see that they haven't lost any of the charm and wit so prevalent in their early years. It's crazy to think the first album came out a full decade ago. Yet, they both seem to still be every bit the archetypal tricksters they were back then. I've always been a big fan of MGMT...mostly for the killer music. But I also just love who they are as people....two smart creative kind witty guys. I still can't get into their live show tho...I mean, there were a _few_ shows in the early years that were legit great, but when I saw them live in 2010 it was the most underwhelming thing I'd ever seen lol. Oh well...some bands are more "studio-centric" and some are total road bands. MGMT are absolutely more of a studio kind of band....and that's partly what I like about them. They're not born rock stars on stage....but they're geniuses at crafting surreal worlds of weird but insanely catchy psychedelic pop.
I love how Andrew just can’t help himself from smiling and/or giggling when he looks down at Conan, such a beautiful human. MGMT is iconic they’re amazing artists
@@superclaireify hahah hey it’s 2021 - we’re not digging over men anymore. I was 14 in 2012 , im pretty sure it would’ve been weird if it was any earlier than that.
At first I didn't realize what that little face was but when I realized it was Connan I lost it. Absolutely hilarious. It's adorable when they giggle at him
What I love the most is to this day after all the success they truly do seem the same as if they are oblivious to the changes that can be brought upon a person’s personality in the music industry. They still seem as though they’re the same down to earth low key people who are trying to make the music they truly want to hear, and it ends up resulting in a unique experience each time
10 seconds in and im already smiling at my screen like an idiot they're still as cute and wholesome as ever this mgmt revival takes me back to when i was 15 and now im almost 20 lmao crying we love talented kings
I appreciate and respect them as musicians so much. They are great. I hope they don't take it the wrong way when loads of fans call them "attractive and cute" to me, their music comes first. Of course they're attractive....But every single album they've put out is golden in my opinion, Even self titled is underrated. They're so creative.
I cant believe myself. I've been listening to them since 2009. I watched all their music videos but never botbered to look at piictures of them nor watch interviews. Now i cant stop. And obviously i am in love with Andrew. I'm 30 years old. I havent had a "celebrity crush" since...god...i dont even know. What the hell. MGMT is indescribable, one of a kind. And i am stoked they are still here. But oracular spectacular is still my fav...

avedic couldn’t have said it better. I did like Kids for a time but strayed away from it and never discovered their other songs. I sorta thought of them as these guys who had this anti attitude and were really serious about their work and were some kind of “hipster legends”, but I’m surprised to know they’re just two normal dudes who don’t take themselves too seriously, have a big sense of humor, and just craft really nice tunes. Their other songs are so much better than Kids or Time to Pretend.
I hope after hearing Virtue from The Voidz that Ben and Andrew decide to go even further down the rabbit hole for album 5. Congratulations and MGMT are their best and most provocative works.
Andrew laughed in the beginning because the interviewer's accent is so harsh he couldn't understand what he first said. he just understood how are you feeling hahahaha
I’m way younger than both Ben and Andrew but it’s so weird feeling as if I’ve seen them grow up like it’s weird seeing Andrew with short hair. Also his face changed but at the same time it didn’t? It’s just really strange, I remember seeing their Fuse interviews back then.
These guys do awesome interviews. Although they don't seem to love it, they dive deep to uniquely communicate each time. Always interesting. Thank you.
I feel like ben always tells Andrew before every interview: hey man listen you’re going to do the whole talk, im just gonna stand there and back you up”
I used to think they were purposely being awkward in the beginning so they wouldn't HAVE to do the interviews but then I realised that's not the case they really are this awkward when being interviewed🤣
interesting to hear they wrote me and michael after little dark age. those were my two favorite songs on the record. wonder if they have demos of other songs written in the time same frame with a similar sound
Got pretty real about 10 min in. I guess my question if I was doing the interview would be “why is it just you and Ben in the studio where is the drummer, guitarist(and bongos!!!), and bass player?” 2.”why do you think people generally disliked congratulations when I personally feel like it was the best album ever?” 3.”why would you pick the 80’s to revive on this album as far as keyboard sounds?” Is it the pop hook sensibility that steered you that direction rather then reviving something I would like more....... like a genesis 70 s type prog style of mgmt keyboard sound? 4.”When you wrote congratulations when was it that you realized it was the greatest album ever and the whole world is stupid for not giving it 5stars straight across the boards of awesome-ness? 6.last question “will we ever see a return to moments of MGMT musically where we can feel some of the vibe of a “of moons birds and monsters” and a “future reflections” type of song on a new album? Can we get us some of that having progressed into your future reflections on album 5 please? Thanks for you time. There are plenty of girls in the sea. It has a cool transition. That was my fav moment of the last album. ✌️🙏👊🏻
these guys always act so spacey in interviews it must like an out of body experience type thing because they write such brilliant music, seems like when the curtains are drawn these guys get focused by something, yet i already disagree with myself because they have just explained the lack of inspirations they have had making this record. must get old after a while i guess, they aren't acting like typical ego centered rock stars. very conscious people. probably can't work under contract. but i waited so long for this album, been listening to it on repeat, now i can already sense myself getting anxious for their next album. thanks for sharing your art with the world gang. wish i could jam with ya wonderful folks!
I was ready for Congrats, haven't heard anything since, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I hated Congrats on first listen. I'm a decade older and it's so good. I'm not a hipster, I don't smoke weed anymore, and I don't do psychs anymore. Such a good album. I was young and dumb. I'd be curious where Andrew and Ben actually would say to listen to next.
Every interview they look at each other when asked a question as if they have no idea what words are
🤣

Andrew's smile every time Connan spoke is literally so heartwarming :)
Connan being in that phone the whole time was so comical. U forget he’s there and then he grunts and u his tiny face
LOL
I initially started skipping through the video trying to find him before I spotted him chilling down there lol

this is such an awkward interview i love it
John McLemore every face culture interview is so awkward. Watch the king krule one
We all adore Andre's introverted awkwardness. He even performs so languid lol.
their interviews are almost always awkward and its so endearing
they literally always are it's great
I met them back in 2011 and they've always been super chill, down to earth dudes. Really digging everything about the new album.

damn, son This is true
Ben though...frick
Pond Impala I love Ben. Andrew’s mannerisms are just cutely childish, it’s adorable.

Andrew is the purest human ever omg
Connan saying hi at the beginning is the funniest thing i've seen in quite a while 😂
Great seeing interviews with these guys. Always entertaining. Conan’s effect on Andrew is infectious.

mid 30s brah
ET Phone Home oh I thought he was 37 for no reason
He's 35
Gosh.... I thought he was younger. I still can’t believe their hit album is like 10 years old already
THEX (aka Theresa) it seems like just yesterday they were some guys coming out of college and taking on their record deal with Columbia :’(
Andrew hasn't aged in anyway shape or form
"When you die" is one of the best songs from the album, definitely my favorite then "Hand it over" and then "TSLAMP"
Me and Michael

interviews with Andrew and Ben are always exquisite
i respect them for saying that New Order and Depeche Mode inspired them to make Little Dark Age
Now we'll never know the end of Connan's storyyyy aghhh
Seems like all their interviews they are always at the edge of just losing it laughing lol
I feel bad their third album made them have doubt in themselves. It's their best album along with "Congratulations".
Damn, I wish I could have a friend who operated on the same vibe as me like they do.
They have amazing chemistry (as friends) like they’re so obviously on the same wavelength. It’s amazing

“It feels like, someone’s missing!”
These guys need to be on a podcast telling their story. I know their music but nothing about them.
All the artists I've been impressed by in recent years: Connan Mockasin, Sebastian Tellier... I'm not surprised.

I'm pretty sure they're actually aliens trolling the human race
I feel like ben always tells Andrew before every interview: hey man listen you’re going to do the whole talk, im just gonna stand there and back you up”
Conan’s constant smile and posture looking cramped up in that phone makes it 10x funnier

Great questions that nobody will ever ask unfortunately..
Is it just me or does Andrew sound like Jake Gyllenhaal? (Not his singing voice but his speaking voice)
Ariel Pink makes my head go round and round.
they carried this interviewer so hard

I knew I heard an Ariel pink influence! Especially on “hand it over”
I thought Ariel was singing on "James"!
pretty sure Ariel has a vocal part on one of the songs actually.
