Greetings from Houston. Alomar bunting and Carter getting caught stealing. Just a fascinating first inning. Teams were determined to make the game harder for themselves back then! My word did Olerud have a gorgeous swing.
MLB on CBS ALCS Game 2 Wednesday Oct 9 1991 first-pitch 208 CST/308 EST Attendance - 54,816 ..... Blue Jays Devon White played Triple A ball in Edmonton
Twins moments: 18:28 Gladden steals 2nd 51:02 Gagne’s single 54:08 Knoblauch’s single 58:00 Puckett’s RBI single 1:43:38 Harper’s RBI single 2:10:19 Knoblauch’s 2nd hit
The Jays lacked a true designated hitter in 1991. Rance Mullinicks is a fine player and longtime Blue Jay, but not DH material. In the offseason they went out and got Dave Winfield and they finally got over the hump in 92.
This was the first time the road team won at the Metrodome in the postseason in eight tries. And between the LCS/WS, the Twins were 12-2 at the Metrodome. LDS, on the other hand... It was the Twins' year regardless but the Jays were done the moment Carter tweaked his ribs in Game 3. Plus lack of a proper DH and the wrong rotation order would have did them in anyway (a three man rotation of Guzman, Key, Candiotti, in that order, was the better bet).
Imagine a future hall of famer laying down a bunt to move a runner over. 100+ years of baseball logic that doesn’t exist anymore. Another reason the game nowadays sucks.

I recall I was watching this game partially on TV that I had to put some coins to watch at old Greyhound bus station in LA.
Which team were you for?
I skipped a meteorology class(general ed course) to watch the gat. We had a quiz the next day but I was up to date on my reading so I did ok

It felt like the Jays took complete control of the series here. It was quite shocking that they lost all 3 home games afterwards.
The Twins were quite good back then.

Mulliniks was basically Olerud before Olerud! But I agree, he was declining as a hitter at that point.
Yep, and Molitor the year after that.

32 years ago today
I was at this one.
THEN YOU WOJE UP!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Why not start key in game 1?
And they wouldn't lose in the homer dome for the rest of those playoffs either.
Devo... hilarious on the bitching on the backwards K... Tap painted the inside black.
