I half agree but it's weird that these chumps took down both Cloud and Dyne. I love Gus, amazing character, but he made both Cloud and Dyne look weak which really shouldn't happen.

Wanted to kill this guy as soon as he suggested Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie would be working off their bounty “in trade” if Cloud lost the race, but his theme song is so good I kinda had to forgive him.
Same. During that entire section, I was constantly flip-flopping between absolutely despising this guy, and adoring him. He IS an extremely vain and greedy POS who has no qualms about kidnapping and selling other human beings, but goddamnit, if he’s not one of the most charismatic characters in the entire game.
I feel the same way towards characters like the Turks, Rufus, Roche and even the Midgar 7th Infantry Swuad as well. Like, they’re not good people, but they are all such charismatic and fun figures, that I can’t really get mad at them, unlike with eg. Don Corneo or all the Shinra higher-ups except Reeves. The whole Upper Junon section especially was a very eye-opening segment in that regard
@@KeDe1606 I think it helped that, realistically, none of the characters were in much actual danger. Cloud could’ve soloed Gus’ entire force of guards, to say nothing of what the rest of the team would’ve been able to do if Gus had tried following through on any of his threats. Really the only reason they went along with it at all is that the gang generally tries not to drop dozens of bodies if there’s an alternative approach.
