I have been a diesel mechanic for 20 years. I wore Danner for 15. They would only last one year. I walk a lot at work and fast. They stretch out and get smelly at the year mark. They don’t make work boots for mechanics only for people and Construction. We roll around in n the floor and tight spaces. The toe always rips over time. Nice video...
They make the ugly fast food worker black slip ons which I refuse to wear. I wear Danner Quarries with a wedge sole at my auto shop and have zero complaints. I have bull run moc toe steel toes which are very heavy when compared to the quarries and those are my backup boot which I should send to Danner to get resoled
Mine are 9 years old and in need of being rebuilt. They will be going back to Danner soon. I wear them mostly on weekend or when wheeling out in the mountains in my Jeep or when bird hunting in the high desert. That said they are not my primary boots but they are among my favorites.
I’ve gotten a good 6 months out of my Bull Run Moc Toes. The sole has worn smooth and rounded the edges off, but the leather is holding up great and I couldn’t recommend them enough. I put between 2-3 miles on mine 5 days a week on concrete, asphalt and stone in the time that I’ve had them. I do everything from rebar and concrete to finish carpentry to operating equipment. In the past I’ve had Red Wings be in farrrrr worse shape in the same amount of time through similar circumstances. Danner has earned my repeat business. And for those wondering, the moc toe is the same boot everywhere except the toe. And they come with a safety/steel toe.
I agree my Bullruns are over 1 year old I work in them 6 days per week plus wear them while not at work and they still look good. I brush and clean everyday , oil them once every 2 months
Just ordered a pair. I've worn red wings for years (before everyone started wearing moc toes) but wanted something that looked a little different but performed well. Thanks for helping me make up my mind. Great review.
You might be underestimating how much you have walked in those. 40-50 miles is like 8 to 10 days for a normal person. I feel like that is a lot of wear on those for less than two weeks. I got slip on Vans that look basically new after wearing them for over 50 miles, even through dirt and at my job. I suspect that those are closer to 5 to 10 times that distance.
I just ordered these in 8” I have the 6” classic moc toe they’re all worn out now lasted a full year was the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve owned very light better than georgias in my opinion only downside was I had to break them in unlike the Georgia’s I’ve owned but after 3 days of use theyre good we’ll see about the cristys I tried them on at boot barn and they were hella light and comfortable
One week into my new Danners. Cut the "leather" with my fingernail and trashed em in one afternoon working in the yard. In the yard I pulled 40 feet of hardware cloth fencing and raked half of my .25 acres. Danner calls this "normal wear and tear". I've owned these boots for 5 days........
Not a chance. I do asphalt and hot in place recycling for a living, where the surface temperature is anywhere from 500-700 degrees next to the oven and 250-300 behind the oven. And these things last 2 seasons. Not a fucking chance in hell you “trashed” them in one afternoon
@@95roadie the leather was cut down to the composite toe. I could slice leather pieces off with my fingernail. Believe what you will idc I got my money back but it wasn't from Danner, it was from my bank who saw the same pictures and emails that Danner did. Between the bad boots and worse customer service I'll never buy another pair. You enjoy your Danners, glad they work for you, I'll stick with Chippewa.
I prefer red wings over danners, both are nice. I was putting 7-9miles a day, 5 days a week and most of the time 6a-1130a on saturdays was good for 4 miles or so...this is my opinion but the red wings are much more durable and comfortable. I was working for USG and the plant was running before the construction was finished, so we had a lot of walking to do. Also, I think the danner leather doesn’t last as long as the red wings I’ve had. Idk it’s my anecdotal evidence.
I've been thinking about getting a pair of these for work. A big part of why I was thinking of getting them is the lace to toe, I got a odd foot that's super flat and it looks like I can get a nice tight fit with that lacing style.
@@Archifx I actually just picked a pair up this morning, have has them on for about 2 hours they feel like 80% good out the box. The top of the boot def needs some breaking in it's got some hot spots on the ankle, and the inside of the toe def needs to break in, they fit real nice but I can feel my big toe touch the side of the boot. Once they stretch and start to mold to my feet after what I'm just taking a shot in the dark will be like a week of wearing after work and off days I have high hopes they will be really comfortable.
They will. I was about to give up on my pair and I gave them another week. Now I love them so much I decided to make this video. Great boots and they have already saved my ass more than I care to admit.
I appreciate the great review. How do they do on wet tile? I have yet to find a good boot that won't slip and slide on wet tile. I'm over 300 pounds so a slip would be bad.
+FixItNow do you still have them? How are the soles? I’ve heard that the soles on these are too soft for anything but hard shop floors, is this true? Please help me!!
I take a 11.5 typically in US & 45 European. Sometimes 12 or 11 in US. I heard that you should 1/2 size down in Danner. Is this true? My left foot is bigger so I usually go for the wide width. What you do recommend?
Fix It Now I’m getting conflicting reports. Some people say that they run large. Some people complain about the break in. Not many say it’s true to size. Oh well, I guess that it’s dice throwing time again
Yo bro are these true size? Like if you wear a size 11 sneaker would it be safe to just get these in size 11? Or should I go up to 11.5 to play it safe?
Bruh, take it from me, most the people giving size info are completely wrong. If you wear a 11 in sneakers, just like me. Get you an 11 1/2 in danner. You can thank me later. And you still might have to get a 12. But the 11 1/2 will fit length wise. But danners suck because there to narrow, absurdly narrow. Even there wide aka EE is most other shoes normal or regular width. No shoe i need a wide width, except in danner. So bottomline danner boot sizes are off compared to most everyone else. Thats why its a total hassle when u buy from them the first time. All the dudes who say its true to size are wrong. Its your sneaker size plus 1/2 size bigger. And even then you might have to get a 12. I had listened and bought my “true to size” like everyone said and got 11’s. And yes they fit, but only when your feet are normal and not swollen at all from walking all day. So you need that 1/2 bigger to deal with normal feet once the swell up. So 11 1/2 is the way to go. But u still might need a 12. But its between one of those 2 sizes for sure. Another tip is this, measure your foot length properly if you can. My foot is literally 11inches. Thats why in sneakers i wear a size 11. And in reality a size 11 sneakers is really if u measure the length inside u will see its a 11 1/2. But thats why sneakers feet perfect when they give there sizes, because they know to give that 1/2 inch bigger then your legit foot size. But sizing shoes is the hardest thing because everyone makes them different sizes. Some like my Nike size 11’s use your foot size and know your feet swell so they add a 1/2 inch and still call it a size 11 even tho the inside length is 11 1/2. Then like danner they give legit size without the 1/2 like sneakers give u. So you have to add 1/2 to your legit size aka your sneaker size. Then depending on how wack danner makes all there boots to narrow even there wide EE is a normal width on every other show. U might have to go another 1/2 inch size up. Last pro tip is always buy the wide version if danner sales a wide version for that model. Sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. And sometimes they do but there not available for whatever reason so u have to get a D/regular width. And thats when the problems might start where instead of getting an 11 1/2 u might have to go to 12’s so it fits your foots width. So another example, is when i bought size 11 danners the first time because everyone said there “true to size”, i put it side by side with my size 11 sneakers aka my Nikes. And the danner was obviously 1/2 inch shorter. So then u could visually see that i need a 11 1/2 in danner. Bottomline is danner sizes there boots to your legit foot length and doesnt give your the courtesy 1/2inch bigger that sneakers like my nikes and all brand sneakers give you but dont tell u. Because there smart to know your foot swells up 1/2inch bigger then normal size when your foot is non swollen. ✌️ PS: when people say that they needed to downsize 1/2 in danners, thats because there true size in sneakers is wrong because there using to big of sneakers and dont know it. ✌️. Everything has to be based on your legit correct foot size. But some people get bigger size sneakers and thats when they say they need a 1/2 inch size down. The ultimate thing is to buy a brannock shoe sizing device. U will have to shell out $75 plus tax and shipping. But that is the ultimate way to find your true size and so u wont be using sizes based on wrong sizes because you someone whos brains are messed up and get to big sneakers and think its your real size. Or if u delusional like i think a lot of people are when it comes to there shoe sizes and so to avoid any guesses or delusions, its best to get the brannock device and get #FACTS about your sizeing. Then the only problem still will be dealing with different shoe manufacturers sizing issues since it seems so many make different sizes then the proper sizing
