- Claudio Bottero, CBA blacksmithing workshop- June 2011. I was instructed to "learn, then share!" so here I am- sharing (and doin' my darndest to learn)!
Billet to birdwings, here in ~5min. Real time, about 2 hours, most of which was spent heating the steel on/in(?) the forge.

For those wondering what they making. This is a piece for a fence. And this guy is Richard Gere the actor. He's a real fan(passionate)with forging metals. And he's making hes own Farm entrance wich toke him 2 months to finish. The fence measured 1 1/3 miles and those big pieces was for the front gate.

Looks like there making a big Anchor for a boat but probably not... anyway, somebody get that guy a quench bucket for his hand! lol holy crow! Lol never seen anyone burn there gloves so much unpurpose

" Billet to bird wings"...Well...ok. Still does not reach the point where what he's forming is anything even vaguely identifiable. I mean c'mon man. Ending the video at this point makes the watcher feel like 5:03 of their time was kind of wasted. How bout throwin in another few minutes , already...

There is no explanation of what is being done. From what I can see is that an artist is trying to work with a heavy piece of steel by using a forge and a hydraulic press. It appears that he has only some knowledge of how these machines work and is rather clumsy in doing what he wants to achieve. In real life some kind of lifting devise would have been used and the people attempting to move the object would have better protection. Even the artist himself should have eye protection when his face was only inches from a heated steel object being stressed by the hydraulic press. I have seen similar attempts by other artists in other media and it is both amusing and disappointing.
He's one of the best blacksmiths on the planet
