SEAL vs Marine with the Sig Sauer MG 6.8 (Next-gen Squad Weapon) | GearScout

- Опубликовано: 20 фев 2020
- Retired Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former Marine Weston Scott get the full background and factory tour of the new Sig Sauer 6.8 machine gun it's building for the Army's Next-Generation Squad Weapon Automatic Rifle program.
Firing a 6.8x51 projectile specially made for the program by Sig (they call it the Sig Fury round), the new NGSW-AR has devastating effects on targets at greater ranges than the M249 SAW and even the M240.

*loads mg by pulling belt through with spoon*
"Why didn't someone think of that 50 years ago?".... Someone did, that's a design feature of the PKM which was introduced in the early 1960s lol
or the MG-3 from Germany.
Shhhhh seals and machine guns dont mix haha. I was thinking the same thing.
Actually it was designed by hitlers regime and they named it hitlers buzzsaw aka the mg3
@@phillipbrewster6058 you mean mg 42, the mg 3 was introduced in the 60s
@@FOVoid oops yeah
"Why didn't anybody think of that 30 years ago!" They did. The PKM and the czech Vz. LMGs both had that feature, as well as others.
The MG-34 already had that reloading and semi auto feature. And that's almost 90 years old.

Mr. Mercury An RPK is magazine fed? Not belt fed.
I was a SAW gunner and it jammed a few times during a firefight in Marjah, and I still have weapons anxiety that is why I own several and if they malfunction I stress and impulse buy more
There was one time during training I was on the m2 ma deuce every 3-5 rounds all it did was jam and I was not happy at all with it
Our retarded gunner shot his 50. Barrel off and since then I have anxiety letting idiots clean squad weapons
You buy more different guns hoping they don’t malfunction as well?
Stars N’ Stripes Forever thanks for your service
Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸
You guys need to make a video series called “Citizen Shooter”
Take a completely untrained civilian and teach them to shoot. Meaning tactically and accurately in real world defensive scenarios
Great idea @mrmicronano!...my brain is working the scenario...
Honestly would love to see that, especially since I don’t get to shoot often...
That's how I feel without coffee sometimes. I figured they were already doing this concept by letting a Mortarman on camera? Thanks for watching! #0341love
Same. Would love to see this
I play COD. Basically im a trained professional now.
Army: *buys new handguns to replace aging Beretta M9*
Soldiers: *untrained and still firing handguns inappropriately, almost as if the handgun might not be the problem*
That is very true but also the Beretta M9 was one of the worst handguns ever made ! The only reason why it was so popular was because it was the cheapest handgun contract for the military so Beretta made so many of them that they also sold them to other countries who buys whatever America buys ! Good training doesn't come in until you go to special operations units and that makes a huge difference because you actually train everyday and get to choose from a variety of non issued military weapons like the Beretta M9 or the Colt M4 which are garbage as hell !
nightbreed141 lol, you know nothing.
@@nickrhine2822 I probably dont know much but that I do know and thats a fact. Maybe you love the Beretta and thats why you dont want to hear this but the truth hurts. Lol you know nothing.
nightbreed141 probably a glock fan boy
nightbreed141 please enlighten us, with all your extensive experience and combat expertise, on why the m4 and the beretta are such bad weapons. I’m truly curious.
As a former grunt, I'm doing cartwheels while shouting, "Amen!" over the weight savings. Everything else is just frosting on the cake.
OldSoldier54 army or marine?
@Mike D How will polymer cased ammo be made into belts then?
AS a former 0311 I know command is going to increase the weight on troops while citing this being lighter.
hahahah I just picture them adding the weight that is taken away for another tent or something that won't be used ever lol
@@ReviewThings Probably more MOPP gear because you can never have enough MOPP gear apparently.
The .338 MG looks like a westernized PKM lol.
It pretty much kinda is
I mean, in terms of *practicality* , there is still no better LMG than good old PKM.
There are more fancy, powerful, ergonomical, lighter and maybe even accurate ones, but none of them combines it all in one package.
I bet that .338 MG may be the next king, but only time will tell.
I think it was Chris Capatulo of Task & Purpose who said, "The only reason why the M240B outperforms the PKM is because the gunners are better trained."
@@lovepeace9727 PKM is not a LMG
@@IR-xy3ij
It's not an MMG, SAW or HMG either.
It's light. It's machine. It's a gun.
i love you guys. this was great!! Glad yall did a review, many of us have been wandering about these.
is that really how they train soldiers to hold handguns?
TheHedge it’s honestly disgusting :/ they need more leverage over the gun. Looks like they’re holding it with their pinky finger out😂
Angel Jaurides it’s like it’s heavy lol
The slide will kill em instead of mujaheed lol
Amen
Why? Here’s the cycle that has yet to be broken. Garbage leaders who are garbage shots being allowed by their garbage leaders to teach Joes to shoot who end up being garbage leaders, garbage shot and garbage instructors. Wash, rinse and repeat. There’s not enough room in this comments section for me to get into how much I despise soldiers who can’t even take the time to be a proficient shooter. It makes me fly into fits of rage because its such a basic and fundamental part of the entire military profession.

@@atrocity2606 I dont know about Russia destroying anybody in anything except a vodka drinking or domestic abuse... but I think we can both just agree the marine should stick to making up war stories with his friends and faking PTSD
Christopherson f I treat my wife like a queen. I have never abused her or any woman. In Russia we value woman a lot more than the west I believe. Did you know only woman build AK-12’s and AKM’s for the Russian military. It’s because woman are much more skilled at crafting and prefect every little detail. Vodka ? Yes we love to drink vodka and smoke cigarettes, but I see Americans also like doing this so what’s the big problem ? And Russia is responsible for 75 percent of all German casualties in WW2. We didn’t give German SS officers coffee, chocolate and cigarettes like the Americans and British did... we loaded them on cattle trains and sent them to do forced labour in Siberia.
Christopherson f PTSD is for weak men. My father was a Soviet soldier in Afghanistan in the 80’s, and growing up I never heard him complain about how bad the war was. If me or my brother ever cried he would beat the fuck out of us. I see these American parents let their children disrespect them, and I see as you mention these marines complain about “ PTSD”.

Don’t be surprised military sticks to 556. If anything, they’d go with 6.8 SPC and not 6.8 x 51
@@wokndedfan413 5.56x45mm is still going to be around for awhile. The NGSW weapons and ammo are intended for frontline use, but all the support troops and other soldiers are still going to be packing M4 Carbines. If anything, one of these 6.8mm OVERMATCH rounds is going to end up replacing 7.62x51mm. 6.8 SPC though doesn't have a snowflake's chance in hell of ever being adopted.
@@wokndedfan413 -- It certainly won't be the .277 Sig Fury the United States Military goes with. That round is so high pressure it will likely be burning out barrels in less than 3,500 rounds. Guns and phallistic humor goes always so well to together.
With the pistol question, we were never trained either! Still managed to pass the pistol APWT (UK annual personal weapons test). It kinda sucked that I had to watch US videos on proper pistol handling, but I guess it’s time.
Although every range package was rushed, everyone would pass the annual rifle test, that’s where we really did well (proper training from the very beginning I guess).
someone on youtube also said the cartridge would be plastic.
There are three different weapons, and three different ammo types, in the competition. The exact caliber is 6.8x51
I remember when we were Mobing up for Afghanistan, our unit got introduced to these new night vision/thermals for helmet mounts to replace night vision..After about a 3 day class on using them and being super excited, the Army Ranger teaching the class was like "oh by the way, US special forces have been using this since 2006" and it was 2012 at the time...I bet the Special forces have been using this stuff for a good time now..they get all the cool things
This is a totally new gun the army has been asking to replace the medium machine guns. They needed an answer that would bridge the gap between the 50BMG and 7.62 caliber M240. This is it 🤩

And I would love to work for a company like this. Almost retired vet.
It is of my personal opinion that the Sig Saur MGs should go with a traditional side-locking belt box as opposed to a bottom locking option. Its easier to visually see and index, (especially in prone). The hand leverage for locking it in place is easier to get to (especially in prone), and both the belt box and mount free up a lot of space which makes the profile of both the weapon and ammunition storage more efficient. (luckily its all M-lok down there so any new designs are easy to incorporate on the weapon. I am very curious to learn of the reasons why SIG felt the need to try their current option, the only advantage I can think of is ambidextrous use, but one can argue that a new side-locking design could allow for both left and right insertion and ejection.
