The reason for that it cos taekwondo looks flashy and it's nice to look at. Muay thai kicks are all about effectiveness and power. Even though I'd say that Muay thai kicks are way more practical in real life and in kickboxing tournaments, they aren't flashy
The teakwondo champion would lose to an amateur Muay Thai fighter. That’s why they try learning these fancy kicks that don’t work in real fights to compensate the fact that they can’t fight.

Hi Nathearn, i just wanna say your videos inspire me to train more with my kicks, just today i did my ever first spin kick just like you did. Keep up with the amazing content!
I did taekwondo as a kid and picked up muay thai later, the gym owner actually loved when people from other disciplines came in and did stuff like that because it's always better to train against a mix of things rather than just what you're learning. Btw, the owner is the guy who invented mcmap and helped train Anderson silva
You can spin the shins too, you can’t do it in Taekwondo competitions but the crossover is fun. I started with Taekwondo 10 years ago and just kept adding techniques from other martial arts.
I heard that Muay Boran is very similar to how they do kicks like Taekwando but more deadly(Muay Boran is a more traditional martial arts from Thailand actually), while Muay Thai is more towards the basics but effective martial arts from Thailand(if i'm wrong, please correct me)
I know the feeling. I have done taekwondo for 10 yrs, kickboxing for one year and have just started boxing. The second I entered the gym the air was different, sharper and more militarised
My coach teaches kickboxing but a 4th degree black belt in tkd he said once you know tkd any martial arts with kicking is easier to learn and tkd is pretty good when you mix it with kickboxing or muay thai
I utilize taekwondo kicks in Muay Thai and it’s extremely effective since most other people don’t expect it, especially side kicks, they’re almost impossible to catch and hold
As a person who had trained Taekwon-do for 7 years already I would like to elaborate why muay thai guy got pissed so much about spin kick. Thing is, spin kicks are not going to be efficient in an actual fight which what muay thai is about. They are in taekwon-do because they are efficient but only for Asians who have completely different body proportions(legs are much less of a % of entire body height compared to the European/american person). In a street fight, a regular kick and a spin kick have similar strenght(for white person body proportions), however the spin one takes much longer to execute which puts you on a disadvantage. Even if you watch some sport Taekwon-do fights you will see that spin kicks are made only when fighter does the spin while making a step bakcwards, in order to get some aditional space for execute the kick since without that space, his opponent would just shorten the distance with punches on head.
😂😂😂 I had this exact conversation with the owner of a Muay Thai gym. I did taekwondo as a kid, ballet as part of my circus training and kick boxing for stunt work. His punishment of 500 low kicks was basically a warm up for me which angered him further. It was good for both of us, he beat the crap out of me and I’m now a much better Muay Thai fighter 🤣
