You really nailed Jerry's late 70s sound! I went to some shows during that period and your rig sounds a lot like the wolf guitar he was using. You really captured the graceful style too.
New to the channel and I love rock!! But,I really don’t think Jerry gets the credit he deserves for his guitar playing!! Great tones and creative lead lines!! Great playing!!
Great video. Thanks, Gabriel! For those of us using a strat, I set the pickup selector between the bridge and middle pickup. That gets you most of the way there and from there using a Fender style amp like in this video (Pro Reverb, Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Princeton Reverb, etc) helps dial in that tone. I agree on pedals as well - using a light overdrive can help add that bit of edge that helps notes sing during solos. In a perfect world, I'd probably prefer a Klon or King of Tone, but there are many low-budget pedals that can get similar tones and don't break the bank. The one thing I don't recommend is the Qtron + for envelope. I'm still hunting for my favorite envelope filter. The Qtron + has been nothing but a headache for me since I bought it...constantly has electronics issues and has been sent to EH multiple times, but the issues have never been completely solved.
I’m in the midst of building a Jerry-caster now. $400 for a used mexi strat and about $500 or so in hardware cost (Wald buffer, an SDS 1 neck pickup, Dimarzio Super 2 for the middle and a Dimarzio Dual Sound for the bridge, an OBEL jack plate, 10k volume pot, 250k (for single coil) and 500k control pots (for humbuckers) and some switches (to split the coils & for OBEL on/off) and wiring. For about $1000, it’s a great setup. You would also need an OBEL box for the pedal board (I use the Hub Bub Pro - by Godfrey Daniels - great pedal for using both an OBEL setup guitar and a regular guitar with a push of a button). I did have a Phred Wolph, which sounded decent when setup right, but the neck was just way too fat/round for me (more like a Les Paul and I’m a Strat guy).
sounds awesome, i kind of go for those Jerry adjacent tones as well (if i had the money i would buy a true jerry rig amp) i have a custom guitar with dimarzio super 2's, and i have a j rockett archer and i think those get me pretty close to late 80s through 90s jerry tone
Nice tone! I am wondering though, is that an Eraserhead t-shirt? Where did you get that? I don't think I've ever seen one colorized like that - it looks cool.
If possible, 2 guitars. A Strat and a Les Paul preferably with a P90 for the bridge. Even a telecaster with a nice bridge pickup can be amazing for some songs
Call Dave Cody at Sweetwater. We had them build me what we called a Pseudo Eagle for about $2,200. They took a PRS guitar for about $800, plecked it, changed the tuners and pickups, and ordered the preamp from a guy on RUclips and installed it. The guys building it had a lot of fun doing it. Dave will remember the details better than I do. Really cool guitar.
@@GabrielBergman95 I use a QTRON ➕ pedal with a boss overdrive pedal and a fade pedal i found. It's super cool. All plus my looper. Where is the video that go show what Jerry uses for Shakedown Street? Please! Aloha from Maui

How the hell do you have a 50k PRS ? Why not buy a 20,000 fender Alligator ? lol I’ve been playing 29 years and I must say that is just sickening to me lol what a waste of money
I don't get it... with ALL the gear available to sound great as a musician WHY do ppl wanna sound like someone else!!?? 😂 When I started playing I wanted to write my own songs and have MY OWN sound. Not to sound like someone else!! Those ppl you're trying to sound like DIDN'T try to sound like someone else!!
Totally David, thats a great point. I’m the same, I love a good fender clean tone. And to your point, I think the fun is more about the chase. Also, Sometimes trying to emulate a sound you realize it’s actually not for you and make adjustments. Finding your own sound is a journey. There’s a lot of trial and error!
We are all inspired by others to pick up an instrument and try to emulate that sound. In our pursuit of imitation, we discover originality and our own voice. Trying to pretend that we came up with our own sound with no influence or inspiration from others is pure delusion and ego.
Apparently you are missing the entire point . Jerry created a guitar sound that is pleasing that many want to learn how to duplicate it . Few get close and Gabriel definitely does !
@@bluetrane67 - I never said there was anything wrong with learning from your influences, but that's where it ends with me. I don't wanna sound like them, play like them or even have the same gear as them. It was just MY opinion.

Wow, I bet those were amazing shows! Thanks for watching Steve!!
Your playing is beautiful and the tone is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!

He was a master of his craft!
I would say he gets plenty of credit. He sold out stadiums all the way up till his death, and he’s still practically worshiped by all his fans. Haha.

Gabe, great tone, great playing. That’s an awesome rig you’ve got
Thanks Jameson! Id love to get my hands on an SMS Preamp in the future and see how it compares to the Pro Reverb!
Your phrasing is really good.

All you need is a Super Eagle guys
You can use any guitar! Strat, 335, les paul! There is no right or wrong!
@@GabrielBergman95 yes I know that … just thought it was funny that you’re demoing $15k+ rig like people can follow along at home
He did say not common gear… he said his personal gear choices. Go see Davy snd Toby got a budget friendly version. But yeah that was funny.
Sound salty af my guy

Hi there, do you split the narrowfield pickup or do you play it in humbucker mode? Also do you use the bright switch/ preamp buffer?
Goals!
Haha
Nice work, but who can get their hands on a Super Eagle and not pay a fortune?
Thanks for watching John, that’s true, any guitar would work honestly. Even a les Paul in the middle position could work!
Don’t be afraid of the treble bro. lol
Haha! Thanks for watching dude!
your right hand technique is interesting
Do ya need a denist or lawyers guitar?
no, you can use any guitar
Dude i WISH i could afford a super eagle. Awesome tone though
Tbf any strat style works!
Bro what do you do for a living your rig is like a bajillion dollars
Great “ Jerry” tone but i cant exactly come up with $50k for a PRS Super Eagłe
Hints on an under $2500 modeł.
Thanks for watching dude, yes! A Super Eagle isnt needed, any guitar will work!

Hey Joseph, not in this video sorry! Its a hard pedal work with if its not on a pedalboard! I’ll post some videos with this setup and Qtron later!
