Freddie I bought a 2020 honda monkey 125 sold it 12mths later for exactly what I paid for it 3.5k the guy who bought it had a motorcycle rack fitted to the back of a new yellow suzuki jimny and then fitted the yellow monkey to the back of the jimny when he went away for the weekend a really cool setup..
Hello Freddie ! I beg your pardon sir. But as a young lad here in the United States of America . We actually had a version of the DAX . It wasn't called a DAX of course . It was the Honda Trail 70 . It was a 70cc trail bike and looked very much like the one you are showing in your video . I know this because my Dad bought me one back in the early 1970s I started riding at the age of three on a Honda Trail 50 . I have owned many a bike since . Dirt bikes and street bikes . I'm old now just stick with my 04 Harley Road king and 650 H1 Arctic cat TRV ATV. Love your videos . Keep up the great work !!
Lovely that they brought this back. Back in 1975 when I bought my first new bike I was sorely tempted, but 17 year old me in leather jacket and a cigarette in my mouth went for the CB125 instead. I thought that it was cooler and gave me more street cred. Those were the days... 🙂
My first bike! Did my cbt in December 2022 and bought it. It has made me fall in love with biking. Still learning, still confidence building but can’t wait for the summer. Never, ever sat on or ridden a motorbike before. Light enough for me to handle with confidence. Simple enough for me to look after. Oh and by the way I’ve just turned 66. Ultimately aiming to take it in the MoHo and ‘do’ Europe!
My first was the green machine as well lol.. hate to see what they would charge for one of these here in Canada now…If it was reasonable Id almost be tempted 😊
In 1970-1972 I had a friend that had 2 of the Honda 50cc mini-cycles and one of the CT-Trail 70 bikes. This CT-Trail 70 became your DAX. We used to treat all 3 terribly and they just ran and ran... Amazingly, they became our favorites, living in the very flat terrain of the tidewater area of south eastern VA, here in the states. The DAX is a much improved version of this classic bike, and yes it belongs in the dirt and mud and running over little 2-7 foot high humps and bumps... Hours of fun for beginners to experts alike. I hope they bring it to the States.
Cracking little bike there. One point I would mention, they're good for putting into a motorhome or on the rack at the back. Try doing that with Enfield, and it may end in grief.
I can second that , but man the weight increase . I have a Dax 125 , produced by Skyteam , and that weights 72 kgs . Exactly the same bike , except Chinese . And yes , it does sit on the back of my motorhome , that's why i brought it .
Back in the early 70's my family used the DAX as a pit bike at the track while I was racing flat track motorcycles . My Mom, Sister and Dad all got around the track on it for years, sometimes all 3 at once - and all of us racers, being teenage racers, would stage impromptu short track races, sliding around some cones in a parking lot on our pitbikes. The fabulous, superb handling (way better than our Monkey bike), DAX ruled those little funtime races. And - they do great wheelis! Just hold down the foot shifter, rev the engine (the clutch is disengaged) , make certain you are pointed straight and are balanced, then lift your foot to dump the clutch and it WHEELIES forever! The DAX is, in my opinion, the finest small motorcycle ever built in the history of the world! I am hoping they become available here in Canada, as I will get the first one available here...
I love them all… Monkey, Super Cub, Trail and Vespa. I’ve always owned 650-1200cc bikes but am definitely in the market for a mini moto. Work, shopping, farmer’s market, etc. are all within a five mile radius.
Brought back great memories of the CT70 I learned to ride on in the US. Exact same shape and build but with folding handlebars that made it possible to put it into my dads station wagon. But here it really needs to be a 150cc because that is the minimum displacement to get it onto the freeway. In the US, you just have to jump on them for an exit or two as rural roads don't always connect to everywhere.
Thank you Freddie, I look forward to your videos coming out, whatever the topic or wherever you are in the world. It's a happy safe space where the doom doesn't penetrate and I can spend 20 mins being taken away from it all. Long may it continue!
This model was not just carried in Europe in the late 60’s early 70’s, it was also in the U.S. as a Honda Trail 90, and a Honda Trail 50..they were the most reliable, longest lasting bikes made..but back then all Honda’s were. This looks like the original Honda Trail 90..
For those of us into the modern retro’s, it’s great Honda are still there with the likes of RE and Triumph. Thanks for the review Freddie, now looking forward to your next Podcast!
The Grom, the Dax, the Monkey, and the Trail. Love them all. But hey. Let's not forget the Supercub (probably the most useable of all, and the real SE Asian scoot). And then again, let's not forget scooters. Comfy, quick, and cool. Well, to most of the world. We love all of these machines. Thanks for a cool and fun vid guys.
Freddie, I love the enthusiasm for this little treasure. It’s a fun looking bike. For my first bike I’m still saving up for the Interceptor 650 Mk2, but that’s because I plan to ride longer journeys and I think this bike is much more suited to smaller commutes and town runs. The level of accessibility manufacturers are bringing to new bikers is only a good thing.
Beautiful bike! I just bought a 2023 Monkey. Maybe I should have waited for the dax. I like that longer seat. I’m a learner, and only 5’1” (155 cm) tall so the Monkey feels like a full-sized bike to me 😂 Having lots of fun learning with my dad and looking forward to future adventures! Cheers from Chicago!
At 55 I returned to 2 wheels in 2008 after a 36 year hiatus. Since then I have taken my CBT every 2 years and owned a new Vespa 125 GTV, a Vespa 125 GTS and a Honda Forza 125. In 2019 I bought my Honda Monkey new and still own it at 70. On those 4 bikes I have totalled 38000 miles including 10000 on the Monkey. In summary I have loved 125s so much that I have never once considered taking my motorcycle test. I keep telling myself that I'll probably be too old to ride the next year but I just seem to keep on going. Loved the video and who knows...I might just get a Dax next.
Love it Freddie. From Superbikes to Cruisers, biking is about having fun. The Dax is just about the epitome of fun! Don’t know if you’ve tried them, but the Grom and the Benelli TNT are also such fun.
@@FreddieDobbs very cheap thrills! I have a video of my son riding the TNT at Motorcycle Live. He’s 14 and literally didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. These small bikes really do bring smiles for miles.
My step son has a TNT125 and he absolutely loves it. I've still not got round to taking it for a spin - but am tempted to see if me and Lisa (Mrs SteveW) can ride it into town after seeing Freddie and Monika on the Dax - just for a laugh 🙂 Here's a quick clip of Cameron (stepson) trying to race me on my Interceptor on a day trip last year...... ruclips.net/video/3YrPp8-IFGY/видео.html
Yep I would have one as an addition /as well as my other bike for those errands popping out to different places .If you had a van /camper perfect to just hook on the back and leave the vehicle at your accommodation and run around on the Dax easy parking and at no cost win win perfect .Good times 😊👍
These little bikes bring big smiles.I felt like a young lad again the second I pulled away on one.Perfect to throw in the back of my truck and head off to the country.Thank you Freddie.👍🏻
Love it.i was captivated by the Dax in the 70's as a young impressionable lad. I think I'll have one next season.perfect for Northumberland back lanes ! Another great review delivered with infections enthusiasm. Cheers Freddi!!
I don’t know if this video was scripted or off the cuff but this was a well thought out video. Freddie Dobbs does not disappoint. Love the passion, he’s a man of the riders….also love retro bikes!
Monkey Z125 owner here since 2020, has a lot of same parts. It's still a thrill to ride and everywhere you park, people will look and stare and ask question about it. The fun per € is incredible. Same issue with brake pedal paint btw, but perhaps a powdercoat to fix it ;-) FUN FACT: You can easily push the bike to turn it on in first gear!! (When my battery was empty I just was able to push it!)
I agree the small bikes are great fun I have been riding since i was 16 and am now 63, i run a couple of big bikes but the most fun i have is riding my little yamaha YB 100 stroker around the lanes. Bunches of smiles every time I love the small capcity machines, maximum grins, nothing better than a warm sunny morning, trying to get 50mph out of a 100cc smokey single LOVE IT 😊😊😊
Thank you Freddie and Monika for a great video that brought back many happy memories. I learned to ride motorcycles on the original Dax back in the late 70's. Of course the original Dax was 70cc, with a kick starter and cable actuated drum brakes. This new Dax is 125cc, has an electric starter, ABS and hydraulic disk brakes! Forget quantum computers and AI, this new Dax proves we are truely living in modern times.
Absolutely... Yes Honda should have brought the CT 125 to you guys. ... I personally, would absolutely LOVE if Yamaha would bring the AG200 farm bike to the states.. I'd buy two.
First comment : Nice videography. In 1977, I purchased a new Honda Mini Trail 70 ( ct 70 ) for $ 453.00 (usd) . When I rode it to school, all the other kids laughed at me , at that time most of the kids had either a full size motorcycle or a moped ( mopeds were quite popular but they were underpowered & expensive costing $ 8 - 900 dollars ) . The moped shops sold Motobecane, Batavia, Garelli, Peugeot and Puch. My ct 70 had orange paint, 3 spd semiautomatic transmission, 6 v electrics and 0.9 gal fuel tank ( 130 mpg ) with a top speed of 55 mph. I rode my mini trail from the Los Angeles area to Lake Tahoe and back & to Santa Rosa twice. I remember riding across the Golden Gate bridge.
Passionate review as always Freddie. I am 65, and after 50+ bikes have been steadily downsizing and now ride a Meteor. I would love any of the 3 Honda retros, CT, monkey or a Dax, but not before a Hunter. I do respect your reasoning though.
Absolutely love the dax. I have an original one which was my very first bike dad bought me when I was 8. I'm now 58 and would love a new dax to complete the set. Well done Honda.
Great video per usual - always top shelf. IMHO these bikes are overpriced for what you get, especially when compared to the price of the RE 350s - you get so much more in the 350s for a modest increase in price. Safe riding from Ohio USA! 😎
Again another fantastic video, great detail, great review of this bike, I actually think you do the best bike videos on RUclips compared to the others who just show them riding from a handle bar view and talk rubbish. Keep it up freddie, I'm already looking forward to the next one 👍
As I grow older this bike doesn't seem as intimidating to me as your usual loaners, but then a tricycle is hazardous to my health nowadays. I do like it , especially the part about picking it up and moving it which I'd be doing mostly. Yes I'd dream of riding the Bonnie o'er the ocean as well as walking on water, but that's not going to happen. It's 6-7 miles a day for me on my go nowhere bike in front of the Tele. Lovely video and love the earth in the UK.
I think Honda has knocked the ball out of the park with their mini moto line. I bought a 2020 Monkey that looks great parked beside my 1969 Honda Mini Trail 50. These machines may introduce new riders to motorcycling, just like the Mini Trail 50 & the Trail 70 did back in the day.
They're main roads in Cornwall. Need to check out Tavistock in Devon, great start point for rides out. Every direction is amazing for motorbikes, both on and offroad
These bikes are great fun aren't they - really enjoyed that Freddie and Monika, looking forward to giving it a go myself in the next few weeks! Have a good weekend...A
Discs both ends? Good. Clutch-less, AKA semi-automatic. Good. Maneuverability. Good. 162 UK MPG. Good. Better even than my commuter (2015 PCX 150). No basic fairing for winter commuting. Bad. Can it be fitted? DIY maintenance of the semi-auto transmission. Maybe bad. Most DIYers will not be able to do this well. Price. Not so bad. Would I buy one? As a toy, yes. As my commuter, no. The Honda CT125 Hunter Cub is about the same price, perhaps. Or the current Super Cub 125, though its styling is too refined for a bike of that nature - a bike that should be wholly utilitarian, in my view. Great video, thanks a lot.
Excellent video Freedie!!! Love this!!! Hope they sell it in America eventually. The Dak has the look and feel of everything 1970s retro. I was there! I'm 61 and will be a new first-time rider soon. I will never attempt to ride a motorbike on American Interstates with 18-wheeler truck traffic and crazy distracted drivers. I will only ride in my town with its suburban streets. The max speed here for these streets is 45 mpg (72 km/h). All of the Honda 125 mini-moto bikes are perfect but that Dak takes me back to being a kid and watching the teens on their Honda CT70 “Trail 70”.
Loved the intro to this piece! Totally pro stuff. And supports my theory that the Motorcycling Marketing Arms race is over: we've rumbled the buggers & remembered what riding's supposed to be about.👍 (I caught the sneaky inclusion of a "confident click" there...)
Crikey I sold my 1977 CD175 recently and with the money ordered a RE Hunter due in March. I feel a bit of a traitor as I always had Hondas (dad was a 5* Honda dealer back in the 70's) its nice to know I have the option to get back on such a cool Honda as this if the Hunter doesn't work out, great video Freddie as always!
I just passed one year of riding in the south central U.S. on a 2015 Honda NC700x, my first and only motorcycle. While I know the small Honda bikes would be pushed to the limit on the interstates I ride and the touring I plan to do this year, I can't help but yearn for a monkey or trail 125. The lovely blend of retro and modern styles combined with Honda design sense and practicality makes them some of the most attractive bikes on the road. Sadly the dealerships in my area don't keep any ready for test drives, so I'll have to wait till I have the money and garage space for a companion to my NC, before I can dip a toe in the 125 market. Your video just added the Dax to my list, here's hoping it hits the U.S. market!
I've been so looking forward to this bike being released. I have a Triumph Street Scrambler Sandstorm (which you also tested), and at some point this year I will have a Dax sitting next to it in the garage. I'll bet these will fly out of the showrooms.
The gear change is exactly like the old C90. I think the basic engine in this has been around for about 50 years now in one form or another. It will likely run forever with minimal maintenance and get great fuel consumption. As you say simplicity is king. I hope they bring it over to North America (Canada for me) - We have Grom's and Navi's and Monkey's but not too much else. 160 mpg - my jaw just dropped. I would certainly get one as an around town bike.
This bike is just brilliant in all ways and it will be another classic..last year I bought a grey one and last month I bought the red one..just a brilliant little bike ..honda nailed it perfectly when they made this
It's lovely 🤗 I'd buy one. Ideal 2nd bike to my T100 👍 Is it just me or does it seem crazy that the first IC bikes to be banned will be small capacity machines up to 125cc? Surely they should be the last? They sip fuel, they're small, can filter and keep moving in town traffic and represent the ideal form of environmentally sympathetic transport. Madness 🙄😠
Great video Freddie 👍 love yr enthusiasm! Totally get it...I've got a Royal Enfield Classic 350 and out of all the bikes I've ever owned it gives me the biggest smile 😃
I swear Freddie is THE BEST salesman for motorcycles. LOL I have a Monkey and Trail125. Had a SuperCub for a few years that I rode From California to Maine back to Cali. Sold the SuperCub a few months after I got back from my cross country road trip. Of the three mini bikes, my favorite is the Monkey. Most fun to ride and oddly being the smallest most comfy too. The fuel filter on Hondas with fuel injection is attached to the fuel pump inside the gas tank.
This video brings back memories..the Honda Dax appears to be an updated reissue of the Honda 'Mini Trail' series of bikes from years ago. My uncle had a Honda 'Trail 70' which as I recall looked almost exactly like the Dax. He had his 'Trail 70' on the pretense of having a small easily transportable bike to use for camping and hunting trips. I remember he brought it along on a deer hunting trip..nothing happening on that trip so we spent the afternoon zipping about on trails and backroads..two grown men and a teenager taking turns on that bike having a ball. I am so glad Honda reincarnated that concept..hope it's available in the US I might be tempted to grab one.
Ohh Freddie, now that you’ve thrown in the Hunter… this decision definitely won’t be easy. The little DAX is a great cool little bike however so is the modern retro Hunter 350! Glad you both enjoyed Cornwall ❤️
I can’t share your enthusiasm for this bike Freddie. You just look right and more at ease on your Bonnie. After all that’s what a proper motorcycle should look like, and sound like! 👍😎
It’s a cracking little bike. I can see this bike bringing people who would have never dreamt of riding a bike to work on to two wheels. That mpg mileage is insanely good. With the price gouging by the fuel companies this is a good answer. Great bike and great points raised in your video.
We had 2 Honda Ct 70s from the early 80s on our farm in Canada for years . These things were bulletproof and could carry a 160 lb adult up steep off-road hills easily. We could ride all day and use 1 Lt of gas ! Nice to see this out now .
Very cool. Going to have to take a serious look come spring. I have a 2015 Honda Grom that I bought new and still absolutely love it. Always starts and runs perfectly. Still has the original battery.
I've been riding 53+ years have four bigger and more powerful bikes but I am hoping to purchase one these this summer if I can find one. I just returned from a large motorcycle auction in Las Vegas where this bikes great grandaddies were also up for sale. A 1977 CT70 sold for $2,750 and a 1971 CT70 sold for $1000 . Same silhouette as the Dax 125 just a smaller engine.
Looks a fun little bike. MPG is amazing, especially compared to my MT10. I will keep a look out for one appearing in your garage. Freddie & Monika may fit on the Dax. Carol & myself probably not!
We took our CT125 "Trail", put it on a hitch carrier behind our Toyota Sienna minivan, drove it from California to Texas for a hang gliding comp, where we used it as a general runabout. Then we went from Texas to the world's biggest airshow at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where again we used it as in-event transportation... and we weren't the only ones. A virtual pletora of people were running around in recreational vehicles with Honda Minibikes (Cub, Monkey, Trail, and Grom) on their hitch carriers. You should totally haul the Dax on your Defender. I'm looking at a Dax for the wife to ride.
A great review. Thank you. It is awesome that Honda has brought back the retro minibikes, but in 125cc. 125 is pretty well the perfect size for fun and practical bikes for around town and on the trail. And the icon Honda engine layout is awesome👍 When I was a kid back in the 70s we all had minibikes. Most had lawnmower style engines, with a few QA50s and Z50s, but the king of the roost was the CT70. Cheers from Canada :-)
In the early 70s doing my apprenticeship I Worked with a guy who brought one of these second hand he was going on to Uni to study math’s and wanted cheep transport. He thought he was going to view a Honda cub, he said that’s too small the man selling it got him to test ride it and explained the seat is the same height as the cub. Cut a story short he brought it and went every where on it and it did him well thorough his Uni years if he was in London he would meet for lunch all ways riding the Honda- we have lost contact now but I bet he has fond memories of it.
As an owner of a '22 Monkey I can testify to how great these bikes are. Great quality, huge fun, exceptional value and residuals, and so cheap to run. I get 130mpg out of mine. I think environmentalists need to step back from 2 ton EVs and take a look at these.
When I was 9 years old in 1973 I got a Honda Trail 70 which looked almost exactly like the Dax. Differences being 70cc engine, fold down handlebars and 3 gears clutchless
Excellent video Freddie! I really enjoyed this one and absolutely agree with all your points surrounding the Dax! Prior to you mentioning it, I had never heard of a Honda Dax however I only started riding a few years ago so I'm not that well versed with all of the vintage street motorcycles. That being said, I can definitely see the appeal in one of these and I could certainly see myself wanting one as a second option to whiz around town with on vacation or doing a day trip to a remote location any other time as well! Thanks for the great video and ride safe my friend! 👍👍👍
Delighted you enjoyed it!🙂 I don’t know if I’ve ever knowingly seen one in the UK before, so my knowledge on them was very small too. One of these in the back of a Defender- that suits me very nicely!😃
The advantage of the Honda Dax over the Honda Monkey is it has foot pegs and a big enough seat for a pillion and what also might appeal to some is the clutchless gearbox.
I've owned all sorts of bike's but for some stupid reason it's the underpowered one's that force you to relax, chill and enjoy being on the road. I've got a WR 250 to put down the serious miles but it's the postie bike that I enjoy most. Same engine as this dax, big plush seat. Gutless on the steep stuff but what's the rush ? When it gets tired I will put in a big bore kit though.
Nice video Freddie. Keep them coming. I wish Honda could bring the hunter cub 125 to europé. I dealer told me that it was supposed to be sold in small amount this year but due to difficulty to delivere it was canceled.
Great review, great video, Freddy. Glad to see Honda still making great bikes at the 125cc size and reasonable price point. Am based in Singapore and am considering a newer Super Cub but have a CG125 back in London and have always found it reliable and good on fuel. Used to ride two different BMWs but at the end of the day I just found I didn't need them in London nor could I afford to maintain them as a student back in the day. The CG125 took a fair bit longer to ride Europe the several times I did it but easily more fun and gets people talking than my GS ever did. I imagine the Dax would be similarly good fun for a longer trip on smaller roads abroad, and a great way to see a new place.
I am now a man of age 72. Here in rural northern New York state, USA, when my sons were growing up I revisited my childhood and had my own good used Honda CT70 Mini Trail to ride with my sons as they rode small Hondas.
Loved my uncles ct90 in the eighties in Oz. Brilliant, toughbike. Broke my heart when I stripped the kick starter spline by putting bolt in backwards. Ugghh Roll started it for a year. Kid u not.🤣👍
Love love love this...I also ensure your feed is one of the first ones I watch - you're a natural Freddie. - by the way your video in the MotoGuzzi V85TT was also top drawer - i now have one in my garage and will be Euro touring it in May ( North Spain ) via a slow pootle down west coast of France ( i need to rewatch those videos of you going down to Barcelona again ) - more strength and success to you Freddie - BW Maf in Brighton
I can believe the mpg. I got 150 out of my CBF , running in and bought during the 2009 credit crunch brand new for £1500. The Dax does appear more nickable however and this should be borne in mind by commuters in particular.
Hi Freddie I have 20 plate honda monkey doing 150 mpg fantastic machine love it. I also run a November 21 honda cb125f it's currently showing 179.6mpg it's a lovely bike and super frugal the handbook says it should go to 188 mpg when run in and it's not run in yet love all your reviews avid follower of you
One of the first bikes I learned to ride was my friends Honda Trail 70's. It was fun to ride and easy to handle. The Dax looks just like that accept for the 125. I like the Dax better than what Honda is calling the trail version.
I agree with you Freddie about the 125cc sector & Honda! Honda make great 125cc bikes,I’ve kept my Honda CB125F I use it for work(25mile round trip) it cost me about £15 month on fuel! Tax is £20 year! I no longer have a car(Granted the wife has one & uses it primarily for shopping!) It’s the best decision I made not keeping a second car WHY HAVE 2? Am now in the process of getting a Royal Enfield Hunter for weekend fun! Am also a All weather rider my investment is in quality waterproof gear(still a hell of a lot cheaper then the running cost of a car!) Oh,I don’t pay congestion charges or parking fees if I go into central London! Traffic Jams WOTS THAT?? My advice to anyone thinking of getting a Motorcycle DO IT!! Your love it! Just wish I did it years ago! I have No Regrets!!
Wow, thank you for sharing this, Mick!
And this has to be one of the coolest sounding setups I’ve heard of🔥🔥
Oh that's just brilliant!!😁 Love it!!
@@FreddieDobbs I may have to consider that myself🤔😀
A green Dax on the back of a defender! Haha….
My wife owns an orange Fiat Panda 4x4 wild, is there an orange Dax/present model? ;-)

My CT70 is 52 years old and 2 months today, Feb 25. Santa made my day back then….
I hope they bring it to the States.
Yes, bring it over!
Cracking little bike there. One point I would mention, they're good for putting into a motorhome or on the rack at the back. Try doing that with Enfield, and it may end in grief.
I was thinking exactly this as a genuinely big Dax selling point, so glad to hear you mention it, Nicholas🙂
I can second that , but man the weight increase . I have a Dax 125 , produced by Skyteam , and that weights 72 kgs . Exactly the same bike , except Chinese . And yes , it does sit on the back of my motorhome , that's why i brought it .

The DAX is, in my opinion, the finest small motorcycle ever built in the history of the world!
I am hoping they become available here in Canada, as I will get the first one available here...
What an insight! The little unofficial races sound just as fun as the real deal!😃 Thank you Ric🇨🇦
Oh, and I accidentally wheelied it- I went white with fear!😃😳
I love them all… Monkey, Super Cub, Trail and Vespa. I’ve always owned 650-1200cc bikes but am definitely in the market for a mini moto. Work, shopping, farmer’s market, etc. are all within a five mile radius.
Brought back great memories of the CT70 I learned to ride on in the US. Exact same shape and build but with folding handlebars that made it possible to put it into my dads station wagon. Thank you so much! All my best to you🙂
This model was not just carried in Europe in the late 60’s early 70’s, it was also in the U.S. as a Honda Trail 90, and a Honda Trail 50..they were the most reliable, longest lasting bikes made..but back then all Honda’s were. This looks like the original Honda Trail 90..
@@jerryodom7358 70 and 50, I believe. The Trail 125 is the retro of the CT (Trail) 90. The 90 had a step-through frame based on the Cub/Supercub.
Trail cub Freddie; that's 125 that puts out the biggest smiles.
For those of us into the modern retro’s, it’s great Honda are still there with the likes of RE and Triumph. Thanks for the review Freddie, now looking forward to your next Podcast!
Thanks! Podcast coming Saturday I think🙂🎙️
As a owner of a honda cb 125 twin which has just turned 40 years old your right Honda have always done it right
Great video guys
They know their stuff- they really do it so well! Glad you enjoyed it🙂
The Grom, the Dax, the Monkey, and the Trail.
Enjoy the ride as every mile per smile turns you into the eternal Peter Pan!
Love it Freddie. From Superbikes to Cruisers, biking is about having fun. The Dax is just about the epitome of fun! Don’t know if you’ve tried them, but the Grom and the Benelli TNT are also such fun.
The Benelux TNT can also be found for £2k used- this is really tempting!
I've still not got round to taking it for a spin - but am tempted to see if me and Lisa (Mrs SteveW) can ride it into town after seeing Freddie and Monika on the Dax - just for a laugh 🙂
Here's a quick clip of Cameron (stepson) trying to race me on my Interceptor on a day trip last year...... ruclips.net/video/3YrPp8-IFGY/видео.html
Great video, I remember the originals in the 70’s. Always wanted one. It’s timeless and a Honda!
Same issue with brake pedal paint btw, but perhaps a powdercoat to fix it ;-)
FUN FACT: You can easily push the bike to turn it on in first gear!! (When my battery was empty I just was able to push it!)
I love how you glamorize a tiny motorcycle! Of course I want a real motorcycle but all I can afford is this thing!
I agree the small bikes are great fun
I have been riding since i was 16 and am now 63, i run a couple of big bikes but the most fun i have is riding my little yamaha YB 100 stroker around the lanes. Bunches of smiles every time
I love the small capcity machines, maximum grins, nothing better than a warm sunny morning, trying to get 50mph out of a 100cc smokey single LOVE IT 😊😊😊
Thank you Freddie and Monika for a great video that brought back many happy memories.
Honda needs to bring the CT125 to the UK in my opinion rather than this.
100% yes!! A lot of people agree with you on this- I’ve heard so many people saying exactly this🙂
I’d love to get a Dax as a runaround. Slightly off-topic what jacket is that please?
Absolutely... Yes Honda should have brought the CT 125 to you guys.
...
I personally, would absolutely LOVE if Yamaha would bring the AG200 farm bike to the states.. I'd buy two.
The CT125 , from watching reviews, has less than perfect suspension and is not as comfortable.
Sevenseas motors import them for around £4800.
Small bike sales doing well is good news, it means new riders getting into bikes.
Totally agree!
Looks sooo fun!!! Honda needs to bring these to the States!!!!!
The best Dax review on RUclips
Absolutely love the dax. I have an original one which was my very first bike dad bought me when I was 8. I'm now 58 and would love a new dax to complete the set. Well done Honda.
50 years of ownership- this is an incredibly rare thing!😳🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I started on a gold CT70 at 11 years old and rode the wheels off it! Glad to see Honda still making these.
Two mins into the video and I subscribed. Great audio, nice voice, script and good camera work
Great video per usual - always top shelf. IMHO these bikes are overpriced for what you get, especially when compared to the price of the RE 350s - you get so much more in the 350s for a modest increase in price. Safe riding from Ohio USA! 😎
Be thankful you're not paying the UK price - we usually pay more than you for the same bike
I need that in my life, i used to have one, an ST50 used it from the mid 80's up to 2002, my favourite city commuter, in 125 must be more fun to ride
My dear mum had a Honda C50. That had a centrifugal clutch and heal and toe gear change as well.
Again another fantastic video, great detail, great review of this bike, I actually think you do the best bike videos on RUclips compared to the others who just show them riding from a handle bar view and talk rubbish. Keep it up freddie, I'm already looking forward to the next one 👍
That’s incredibly kind of you to say so, thank you Chris🙂
A perfect city commuter and run around, iconic, fun and stylish
Loved the intro to this piece! Totally pro stuff. And supports my theory that the Motorcycling Marketing Arms race is over: we've rumbled the buggers & remembered what riding's supposed to be about.👍
(I caught the sneaky inclusion of a "confident click" there...)
I had to squeeze in the “confident click” somewhere😆
Crikey I sold my 1977 CD175 recently and with the money ordered a RE Hunter due in March. I feel a bit of a traitor as I always had Hondas (dad was a 5* Honda dealer back in the 70's) its nice to know I have the option to get back on such a cool Honda as this if the Hunter doesn't work out, great video Freddie as always!
I’llAlthough I’ve never ridden one, I’m certain you’ll love the Hunter!🙂
It’s really cute. Grows on me the more I look at it.
For better slow speed control try using your rear brake while throttling and steering , makes it far more controllable
This bike is just brilliant in all ways and it will be another classic..last year I bought a grey one and last month I bought the red one..just a brilliant little bike ..honda nailed it perfectly when they made this
Excellent as always, great communicator and infectious enthusiasm!
I have been an avid collector of the coveted CT70 K0’s and early Z50’s for years. Honda’s engineering is stellar.
It's lovely 🤗 I'd buy one. Ideal 2nd bike to my T100 👍
Is it just me or does it seem crazy that the first IC bikes to be banned will be small capacity machines up to 125cc? Surely they should be the last? They sip fuel, they're small, can filter and keep moving in town traffic and represent the ideal form of environmentally sympathetic transport. Madness 🙄😠
I’ll share this thought in this week’s podcast because it’s such a good point. You’re right- it is total madness!!!
Liberalism is a mental disorder!
Great video Freddie 👍 love yr enthusiasm! Totally get it...I've got a Royal Enfield Classic 350 and out of all the bikes I've ever owned it gives me the biggest smile 😃
Thanks🙂🙌🏻 The Classic 350- I still love them so much. Possibly (probably) still my favourite bike🖤🏍️
Absolutely brilliant video Freddie your passion for anything with two wheels is awesome
Thank you Graeme🙂🙌🏻
I swear Freddie is THE BEST salesman for motorcycles. LOL
I have a Monkey and Trail125.
I have a 1974 Honda ST90 that looks just like the Dax and it’s a blast. Fun little bikes
Litre bike rider here - I REALLY need to get my hands on one of these ‘Dax reissues’ - looks like a blast to ride.
Great review and nicely done vid.
LOOKS GREAT FUN . Freddie , food for thought . Thanks for the video .😉
In the early 70's here in the US all the cool kids rode the CT70. Always wanted one. I could get one for my grandson. He's only 2 tho.
It’s a tough choice because each bike offers something quite different. I loved every second in Cornwall🙂
If you're taking about US fuel pricing you're mistaken about the source of the high cost - it is NOT the fuel companies causing the problem.
Excellent review Freddie. Looks an economical solution. Good fun too ! 🏴
Fantastic, just beautiful, thank you so much. Love the tiny house.
I wish everybody road bikes instead of driving in cars.
Fascinating to hear how they do in the US, thank you for sharing this!🇺🇸
@@Banditmanuk 😄😄😄 I think both you and Carol should have Dax.
125cc bikes are so useful and make so much sense that the Govt is proposing to ban the sale of new ones in 2030.
I would definitely consider it as a wee shopping tool👌
The advantage of the Honda Dax over the Honda Monkey is it has foot pegs and a big enough seat for a pillion and what also might appeal to some is the clutchless gearbox.
Agreed on all points🙂👌🏻
I've owned all sorts of bike's but for some stupid reason it's the underpowered one's that force you to relax, chill and enjoy being on the road. I've got a WR 250 to put down the serious miles but it's the postie bike that I enjoy most. Same engine as this dax, big plush seat.
Gutless on the steep stuff but what's the rush ?
When it gets tired I will put in a big bore kit though.
Another cracking video Freddie what a lovely little machine to buzz around on a sunny day
Nice video Freddie. Keep them coming. I wish Honda could bring the hunter cub 125 to europé. I dealer told me that it was supposed to be sold in small amount this year but due to difficulty to delivere it was canceled.
That is such a gigantic shame!!🤯
Well done Honda, it’s great seeing the Dax back on the market. Now can you please just bring back the 400/4 and NS400R? 😉
Chucking in the back of the van is exactly why I'm interested in it! plus it's super cool.
I am now a man of age 72. Here in rural northern New York state, USA, when my sons were growing up I revisited my childhood and had my own good used Honda CT70 Mini Trail to ride with my sons as they rode small Hondas.
Congratulations on sailing through 75k subs Freddie and Lady M 👏
Thank you so much Alan🙂
Any chance you and Lady M might attend the ABR festival this year Freddie? Be great to see you there!
Loved my uncles ct90 in the eighties in Oz. Brilliant, toughbike.
Broke my heart when I stripped the kick starter spline by putting bolt in backwards. Ugghh
Roll started it for a year.
Would definitely consider this as a 2nd bike! Great video.
Hi Freddie I have 20 plate honda monkey doing 150 mpg fantastic machine love it. I also run a November 21 honda cb125f it's currently showing 179.6mpg it's a lovely bike and super frugal the handbook says it should go to 188 mpg when run in and it's not run in yet love all your reviews avid follower of you
That is INCREDIBLE!⛽️😳🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
