Always good when you do something to your bike that makes a difference. Yes it cost a few quid but if it makes the ride better then it's worth it. Enjoy👍
They look great, and 100% you have to have bars nice, back and shoulder pain is not fun when they don't suit!! I'm glad you went ahead and re routed those cables, whatever is "correct" it still needs to be comfortable, if it works the other way then what's the harm eh! Fair play to maybe Steve!! I'm so happy more people are accepting Strom life and the comfort it brings :P The bars do look great in black! I wonder how you'd find the vibeyness of my Vstrom, I've never had any issues on any bikes but maybe I'm just numb to all emotions and feelings :D I wanted to see the food :'( Hello Daffy.
I love how they look, and I think now I have managed to get the bars straight, but not tested it yet... makes a huge difference having the right bars for the individual. If I really get on well with this set up, I may do a bar swap on the Tuareg too to fit slightly narrower and maybe lower bars. "Steve" done good, I so prefer it the way it is now and it makes so much more sense than with the cable blocking the kill-switch. Strom Life is the way... Folk who deny this are missing out! 😀 TBH, this is the only bike in modern times that has vibed like this did, so maybe it has an underlying issue from it's time as a dealerships demo bike? Other owners have said that they don't have bad vibes, although most admit it does vibe to some extent or other. Being numb to emotions and feelings has it's advantages! 😀 Food goes on Instagram (except when it makes it into a video...) 😛
Of course I stayed til the end, how dare you ?!?!?!? I was actually really looking forward to seeing your food. I get nostalgic for UK greasy spoons, don't you know ?!?!?! The new bars look super smart, a really tidy job there Pete. Looks so much better with black bars Kudos to you for tackling a relatively big job like that and doing it so well. If I'd attempted something similar, I'm pretty sure that there would have been more duct tape, BluTac and cable ties involved 😂 Just show us the food next time ! 😜 Take care Pete, Garry & Ruby
@@economicalrides haha, food pics are for Instagram 😁 although I will try and put more in the vids... saying that, Rykas is not great at the food presentation... the West Beach Cafe is much better for food pics 📸 I'm really pleased with how nice it looks, love the narrower bar for comfort too. I'd have liked the vibes to have been eliminated for this price, but overall I am happy 😊 Haha... funny you should mention cable ties and spannering... Sundays short has a bit of that! 🤣
Man of all the things to do, handlebars is not one that I want to do on purpose. There is a lot more to do than one would expect when changing them out. Hey I like those mirrors. I have the same kind on my T7. They work just as good as the expensive brands.
Am lucky in this instance that the heated grips had already come loose, so span on the bar... made it hugely easier to swap the bits over. I have to honestly admit, they are very much not as solid as the OG DoubleTake mirrors I have on my Aprilia, and would swap them in a heartbeat if I was able for some real ones.... they vibrate and also don't stay in position at speed annoyingly.
@@HippoDrones Easier is always better. I don't notice any vibes but it is on the T7 so maybe a little smoother i suppose. I do have to crank them down a bit when on the road and when I'm on the trails I slightly loosen them, they do a good job of not breaking when the bike wants to take a nap😆. I may get the real double take for the 1290 so I can really see the difference.
Having the cables for those grips over the top seems daft really. Far better out of the way. I always spend ages tinkering with grip angles. I almost always get it wrong then have to warm the glue and move them 😀
Nowt worse than riding for too long with bar vibrations. Shame it didn't cure it fully, especially at that money. I was here at the end mate, was looking forward to the food shots!🤣🤣
Aye, it does an ok job, but would have loved it if they removed the vibes totally. I think next on the vibe reduction is to check all the engine mounts... I can't imagine thay are loose but so many people have said their V-Strom 800 does not have bad vibes. so def worth me investigating further. Haha... Unless the food is good, I'll not add them to the vids... and Rykas food can never be classed that highly! 😀
My 8S had some vibration, but not as bad as this. Other owners are split, some say their bikes vibe, others say they don't... So I think it luck of the draw... I will be looking at bolts and torques to see if stuff is causing it that can be fixed

@@mellowr1 Might be worth a try, think they are only around £10 for a set, might make the bars a bit more comfy for you which could help with the neck as a side effect 🙂
Partial win mate, but oh my, those risers aren’t cheap ay 😮…the black bars look much better. Given your colour scheme, makes you wonder why Suzuki didn’t fit black bars like ha ha..maybe you could get a job on their design team mate, you seem to be a better judge 😀😆

Not going to show the food! You see, there at the end. There’s good characterful vibrations, and there's annoyingly vibrations. Everyone's interpretation is different. Hopefully, your mods have helped, and the routing of the heated grip is now in the sensible place.

Thankfully these went on without new glue on the left bar. The right comes attached to the throttle tube direct from Suzuki 🙂
