Do I have to use a sump pump or can I discharge below footer and allow gravity to work?

If the soil level in your crawlspace is lower in elevation than it is outside in the yard, you'll find a sump pump works better!

@@americancrawlspacesolutions Thank you. Does a pump work better because it is easier to mechanically discharge rather than physically grading the discharge line which will take more labor?

@@marwin4038 it is way less labor (IMO) to install a pump, not to mention the exterior length of a gravity discharge line is often misunderstood. For example, if a 65' exterior gravity drainage trench is required, but you don't own that much property, you'll have to use a pump.
