About time she speaks up. The Board of Supervisors are responsible for public transit safety, yet they’ve done nothing to make the rails or buses safe for riders or operators. Barger is all talk.

Time to just crank down on security. When we had LASD at every platform, incidents were way down. They need to add gates at every station too

The ambassadors are useless and the private security as well. I see them hanging out all together smoking and doing absolutely nothing. They are getting paid to hang out.

It really sucks that it's taken so much violence for so many years for it to reach this point. So, so many Metro riders have been speaking about this both in person at unrelated community meetings (mostly those are done for anticipating construction), as well as of course online. Politics or not, it simply baffles me that it took this long. What I have seen riding on Metro rail and buses throughout my life is unacceptable to be seen in a "first world country". As a woman that often rides by myself, I've avoided it as much as possible for the past several months, opting for Uber or only using it in the middle of the day. I really hope these get implemented ASAP, and aren't forgotten about or put on a waitlist. Things like (un-hoppable) fare gates, a police button on call similar to a bank, that can be authorized by the driver.
I used to believe that if someone is homeless and doesn't cause the entire car to smell like bodily waste, or is sleeping and minding their business-- that it isn't a problem. Especially if the weather is unfavorable outside like a heatwave, or a rainstorm. However those lovely people are almost never present, and it's always the isolated, mentally ill grown men that could also be drunk/high as a bonus.

By not controlling the situation with mental health patients, not only are passengers at risk, but metro bus drivers are most at risk. These drivers are not clinical psychologists to be able to deal with this population.

Whats there to discuss? Pay criminals 1k so they wont commit crimes again? Create another legislation and stack the langauge in bolder letters not to commit violent crimes? Catch and release, inform the the criminal they have to appear on dated court day? Fund the lost billions more and double down on homeless mental illness?
