ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

The data doesn't indicate a climate crisis.

and yet people die of heat waves and countries like bangladesh and maldives are at risk of getting submerged

@@nimratmand3318 Please look up the tide gauge for Maldives. Your claim is false.
Same goes for heatwaves in Bangladesh; its been 'hot' since God made little green apples.
Start looking at the data and stop believing every scare monger. There is no science basis for AGW hypothesis. Your were given a copy of Chicken Little for a reason.

@@nimratmand3318 yes, people die during heat waves, that has always been unavoidable, unless we have cheap, reliable and secure energy for things like air conditioning units. The Maldives is not sinking, if it was, why would it be building runways, hotels, houses, businesses and why would its GDP be increasing year on year? Every prediction about the sea level at the Maldives has been shown to be wrong. There is a god rebuttal here. ruclips.net/video/Ac6TvN1hvKA/видео.html

Not one young adult here questions if there really is a climate crisis. Tutors must be given credit for churning out closed-minded young adults, unable to think for themselves.

I am from one of those "poorer" countries
    Our society
    Our economy
    Our lively hood
Is built on the back bone of crude oil, we are indeed the generator Capital of the world
Its absurd to tgink this helps anyone except rich countires who can afford to burn money on dreams

    • @nimratmand3318
      @nimratmand3318 22 дня назад

      yes true
Of course no one is propagating that we should stop using crude oil altogether, but we do have to recognise the costs. As he mentioned the example of Delhi, there are multiple such cities around the world which are facing such crises, and then there are countries like Bangladesh and Maldives which are at risk of getting submerged
So, personally I think it would be a good time to think about alternative sources of energy

What does crude oil have to do with crises in India or submerging of the Maldives
Also, again, you most likely don't know the extent at most countries depend on crude oil
      You can talk about it
      It's not happening

Ok ... quite good quality, despite the distance between India and Europe (at the earliest occasion it would be advisable to explain to the participants of the discussion, about the role of a microphone). I am eagerly awaiting the English version!.
