She didn't use advanced placement. The reason you probably couldn't place some objects in the same places she did is because your grid was probably 4x4. On the side of the screen when in build mode where you adjust the lighting and stuff, there should be a picture of a grid and if you click it, the picture changes and that means you can place objects closer together. If you click it two (2) times, you should be able to place an object ANYWHERE unless two objects don't collide.

If on phone or iPad or something press the three lines then do the same thing in settings

I just put pyramid roof for the front of the house. Then I added flat roof for the rest of the house. You can always slow down the video if its going too fast.
