Bev is a must with my am coffee . If she hasn't a new video out i just pick a very old one that i think i haven't seen or don't remember . All her videos are a learning experience ! have a great day !!!
I just wanted to let you know you are a genius. I made an apple pie for thanksgiving. I had made apple pie filling this summer and I used it with dehydrated apples. It wasn't runny and the flavor of the dehydrated apples.
What a great idea for using pantry stock! I want to try this as soon as I create "pantry stock"! I'd better get busy because those apple pies looked great! It's apple season here in Vt.
I followed an Amish canning recipe for Apple Pie Filling that uses corn starch, but later learned the USDA recommends using Clear Gel instead. Clear Gel isn’t easy to find, so yes - now I can apple slices in simple syrup. Use to make pies, or chop for muffins, or cake or whatever. Much more versatile. 👍🏼😊
Beautiful pies Bev! I totally agree, on both accounts, the mix of the two apples are the way to go and, I like the apples canned just in light simple syrup definitely more options that way. Enjoy!
Oh Bev, thank you so much for these ideas! I am going to pick up some apples this weekend and will just dehydrate these ones, then can the next batch. You are fantastic!
What an amazing fabulous cook you are!!!!! I have been so blessed to find you channel. I am learning a lot and I am grateful that you do this to help so many, I am among the many that are appreciative of your talent, and knowledge. May God continue to bless you and your family. Thanks for being you!!!
Genius!!! Pure genius! I would have never thought to do the dehydrated apples on the bottom. Oh and the egg white in the left over syrup and cinnamon. Wow! You never cease to amaze me Mrs. V with your knowledge. Thank you ever so much for sharing this recipe. And now after watching this, definitely going to go and make my very first Apple pie. Blessings, Michelle Jolley
As usual you made that look beautiful! I'll bet they were delicious. I always dot the tops of my apples with butter before I put on the top crust. Love from Iowa ~ Lori ~
Wow Bev, I loved this video. Because of you I dehydrated a lot of apples and they are beautiful! We bought two bushels of apples in the fall and my husband is proud that he is able to keep apples covered in double black plastic at the bottom of the refrigerator he has in the garage. His father raised apples and bees along with sheep when he was a child. He says he hates strawberries because his mother made him pick them! Ha! It's not that he hates strawberries it's because he hated having had to pick them! When I watched this video I had forgotten that I have several 1/2 gallon jars of dehydrated apples. I'm going to make an apple pie but since I don't have apples in syrup I was wondering what would happened if I peel, core, and cut up some apples with a little water and some brown sugar and run that through the Bullet Food Grinder and then add some cornstarch to this with cinnamon. Do you think this would work to make a sauce for the apples/dehydrated and fresh. Do you think this could work? I love to experiment. Your pies are just beautiful. One thing my husband loves is "ANYTHING MADE WITH APPLES"! I guess I'll have to surprise him. Thank you for sharing you videos. I never miss one!
Just put the apples ( dehydrated) in the bottom of the pie shell, then fresh apples..whisk together 1/2 cup apple juice ( or water) with 2 tbs starch 1 cup sugar, cinnamon and pour the mixture over the apples..dot with butter, put the lid on and bake..you WILL get some juice from the fresh apples! Hope this helps! And I am VERY sorry..for some reason I just got e-mail notification of this comment TODAY..that is why I tell people to e-mail me with QUESTION in the subject line!
Oh wow! Bev those apple pies look amazing and who would have thought about using dehydrated apples in there. How awesome and the crust looks magnificent.
I used an apple corer/peeler for my apples and canned them. I opened the jar and they are applesauce when you take them out. I guess I need to cut them into large chunks from now on!
Hello Mrs. V ! I am going to make your canned apple recipe soon and I can hardly wait to make a pie! I still need to also dehydrate some apple slices! Oh I can hardly wait! Thank you, thank you for your knowledge!
Has anyone tried apple pic with cheddar cheese slivers? That was my father's favorite. I like either way, ice cream or cheese. It's gotta be cheddar, no cheap stuff.
I just watched this video. Great idea. One quick question The sugar cinnamon recipe is that for one pie or for the two pies. Wondered if you double it for the two pies
Gorgeous pies, Bev! I haven't tried to make pies (minus cheesecake) for a long time. I'm just no good at crust. Of course, if I practiced more, I might get better, huh?! Great job!
I have watched it. Like all the other videos. Trying to build my confidence up to do it! Thanks for the prep talk though. One of these days I will just do it. Hugs!
Hi, Bev-We just pickwd our trees and we have been peeling away. We got about 7-8 5 gal. buckets so I will have apples for a very long tine. I am definitely going to dehydrate some now for storage. Can you show us what they look like when you slice?
Those look wonderful! I have never thought to put dried apples in a fresh apple pie. How do they taste and how is the texture of the apples? I hope you get to video not only the cutting of the pie, but a picture of the whole spread. I know it will be fabulous. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
A dried apple schnitz pie ;-)...... I got to try that but I don't have canned apples. I have dried schnitz though.Use it for oatmeal and muffins. Would fresh pie apples work? I usually just toss fresh apples with a bit of sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch in pie shells. But if I omit the cornstarch and add some dehydrated apples instead? I will have to try and see I guess.
Good morning ShalimarPerfume what is schnitz ???? Hope you are doing well my Windsor neighbor n enjoy the rest of this rainy week , yuck . lol .......thats fall for sure for us 2 being so close from each other {25-35 minutes bridge or tunnel }.
@@OurHalfAcreHomestead Bev I am binge watching your videos. I scrolled thru your video list, added the ones I am looking for info on to my watch later list and bingo, nonstop tips from you. Maybe mention this as a suggestion. I was sick of the garbage on TV.
YES! Just soak your dried apples in some boiling water until that are partially swelled, spoon them into the pi shell wet and cover with canned filling! If it is home made pie filling..do it the way I did Originally!

Oooh(shiver of pure delight) that Mrs V is food porn! I have never thought of using dried apples but it's a genius idea for soaking up the excess juice that kind of spoils the bottom pastry if you don't eat it all fresh.
My day is always better after I have my morning visit with Bev!
+Sheri Curry awww Thank you Sweetheart!

I just wanted to let you know you are a genius. I made an apple pie for thanksgiving. I had made apple pie filling this summer and I used it with dehydrated apples. It wasn't runny and the flavor of the dehydrated apples.
